After 20 rounds of counting, the incumbent Chief Minister of West Bengal lost in the Bhabanipur seat by a margin of over 15,000 votes to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari.
BJP secured a thumping majority in West Bengal. BJP won 192 Assembly seats and is leading in 15 seats out of the total 293 seats. According to the latest trends, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won 68 Assembly seats and is leading in 12 seats.
According to the final results published by the ECI after all 13 rounds of vote counting, Debnath received 87,977 votes, comfortably defeating Tirthankar Ghosh of the TMC, who managed to secure 59,141 votes.
