DNC apparently snubs Teamsters president following his historic RNC speech

CHICAGO – The Democratic National Convention reportedly snubbed Teamsters President Sean O’Brien’s request to speak during the convention, just weeks after his historic address before the Republican National Convention.  “We have not received a response to our request to speak,” the Teamsters told the National Desk on Monday of O’Brien’s previous request to address the audience in Chicago.  O’Brien had requested to address both the Republican National Convention and DNC around the same time earlier this year, ABC News reported last week, but only received a reply from the RNC. The Teamsters have historically endorsed Democratic candidates, but have remained neutral in its endorsement this election cycle.  The labor union chief joined the RNC last month in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he did not offer an endorsement to former President Donald Trump, but spoke to the audience about “reaching across the aisle.”  UNION LEADER’S PROVOCATIVE RNC SPEECH DRAWS IRE FROM SOME IN ORGANIZED LABOR “Now, when I won the presidency of the Teamsters in a national election two and a half years ago, we started reaching across the aisle,” O’Brien said during his speech. “In the past, the Teamsters have endorsed GOP candidates, including Nixon, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush.” “But over the last 40 years, the Republican Party has really pursued strong relationships with organized labor,” O’Brien said. “There are some in the party who stand in active opposition to labor unions. This, too, must change.” O’Brien was the first Teamster in the organization’s 121-year history to speak at the RNC, which he underscored when he said during his speech: “Teamsters are here to say we are not beholden to anyone or any party.” PLANNED PARENTHOOD OFFERING FREE ABORTIONS, VASECTOMIES AT DNC The speech, despite its lack of endorsement for Trump, sparked the ire of some liberal union members, as well as others within the Democratic Party.  Teamster Vice President At-Large John Palmer, a member of the union since 1987, lambasted O’Brien’s decision last month, calling it “unconscionable for any Labor leader to lend an air of legitimacy to a candidate and a political party, neither of which can be said to have done or can be expected to do anything to improve the lives of the workers we are pledged to represent.”  DEMS’ SENATE CAMPAIGN CHAIR SAYS DEMS SKIPPING CONVENTION ‘KNOW WHAT’S BEST’ FOR THEM  A handful of other union leaders are slated to speak during the DNC, with United Automobile Workers President Shawn Fain the only union chief addressing the audience in a solo speech.  The Harris campaign and DNC leaders did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on reportedly snubbing O’Brien and his request to join the convention. Retirees of the union were invited to the DNC, and Harris is slated to hold a roundtable with the union ahead of Election Day, Axios reported.  The DNC kicked off in Chicago on Monday, where the audience heard from a handful of high-profile Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and surprise remarks from Vice President Kamala Harris.  As elected officials began filing into the convention center Monday, left-wing and anti-Israel protesters just blocks away from the United Center slammed the party for its support of Israel as the nation continues battling Hamas since October. The protesters demand the U.S. end funding to Israel, in addition as well as “Immigrant Rights and Legalization for All!” “Defend LGBTQIA+ & Reproductive Rights!” and “Stop police crimes! Community control of the police now!” according to the “March on the DNC 2024” website.  Fox News Digital’s Peter Aitken contributed to this report.  Get the latest updates from the 2024 campaign trail, exclusive interviews and more at our Fox News Digital election hub.

AOC unleashes on Trump in fiery DNC speech: Sell the US for ‘a dollar’

AOC unleashes on Trump in fiery DNC speech: Sell the US for ‘a dollar’

CHICAGO – New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed former President Donald Trump in her DNC speech as a man who would “sell” the U.S. “for a dollar” if he’s re-elected come Election Day.  “We have to help [Vice President Kamala Harris] win because we know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends,” Ocasio-Cortez said Monday evening from the convention’s stage at the United Center.  “And I, for one, am tired … of hearing about how a two-bit union buster thinks of himself as more of a patriot than the woman who fights every single day to let working people out from under the boots of greed trampling on our way of life. The truth is done. You cannot love this country if you only fight for the wealthy and big business. To love this country is to fight for its people. All people. Working people. Everyday Americans like bartenders and factory workers and fast food cashiers who punch a clock and are on their feet all day in some of the toughest jobs out there,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.  COMMUNIST ACTIVIST SLAMS DEMS FOR ‘DECEPTIVE’ MESSAGING AT DNC: ‘THEY NEED VOTES’ The DNC kicked off on Monday in Chicago, with a handful of high-profile Democrats addressing the convention, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Ocasio-Cortez and brief remarks from Harris before her full address on Thursday evening.  “I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible President Joe Biden who will be speaking later tonight,” Harris said of President Biden, adding “we are forever grateful to you.” PLANNED PARENTHOOD OFFERING FREE ABORTIONS, VASECTOMIES AT DNC “This November, we will come together and declare with one voice as one people, ‘we are moving forward with optimism, hope and faith,’” she said. “When we fight, we win.”  Ocasio-Cortez made similar remarks amid her speech, arguing the country has been presented with a “rare and precious opportunity” with Harris’ run, and that Democrats must “pour every ounce” into “making history” by electing Harris.  “Over the next 78 days, we will have to pour every ounce, every minute, every moment into making history on November 5th. But we cannot send Kamala and Tim to the White House alone. Together, we must also elect strong Democratic majorities in the House and in the Senate so that we can deliver on an ambitious agenda for the people,” she said.  HARRIS PROPOSES MAJOR CORPORATE TAX HIKE, REVERSING TRUMP ERA CUTS The DNC has included massive protests from anti-Israel activists who held a march just blocks away from the convention center earlier Monday, demanding Democrats cease funding Israel as the country continues battling Hamas.  “We expect just empty phrases, lip service, lies and deception,” a communist protester told Fox Digital Monday of what he anticpates from President Biden’s anticipated speech Monday evening.  “We don’t, you know, necessarily believe the Democrats are capable of doing anything for the Palestinian people,” the group’s co-founder added. DEMS’ SENATE CAMPAIGN CHAIR SAYS DEMS SKIPPING CONVENTION ‘KNOW WHAT’S BEST’ FOR THEM  The protests escalated Monday evening as the convention center began to fill with high-profile elected officials, delegates and supporters of the Harris-Walz ticket. Protesters managed to dismantle at least three panels of fencing surrounding the convention early Monday evening before police detained a handful of protesters. GOP senators kick off Trump campaign DNC counter-programming: Harris ‘doesn’t have a clue’

GOP senators kick off Trump campaign DNC counter-programming: Harris ‘doesn’t have a clue’

Former President Trump’s campaign launched a counter-programming effort in Chicago, Illinois with two big-name surrogates who hammered Vice President Kamala Harris on inflation and the economy as the Democratic National Convention gets underway in the city.  “You can tell right now by what very few proposals that Kamala Harris has put on the table,” began Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., “She doesn’t have a clue.” Johnson and Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., stood in front of several charts that demonstrated rising prices on food and necessities at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago on Monday.  STRATEGISTS PIN GOP SENATE HOPES ON TRUMP BASE COMING ‘HOME’ AHEAD OF ELECTION Both men highlighted their own experience running businesses in the private sector, also pointing to Trump’s history of doing so. “Donald Trump is a business guy who understands how businesses work,” said Scott. “Harris has no earthly idea how businesses work. Her vice president pick has no idea how businesses work.” The senators slammed the current state of the economy, specifically hitting Harris and President Biden and their administration for facilitating inflation increases.  Last week, Harris’ campaign announced a sweeping economic platform, which included a crackdown on corporate “price gouging” in the food industry. Harris revealed she plans to implement the first-ever federal ban on the practice.  She would also drastically expand the child tax credit, allowing up to $6,000 during a child’s first year. Under a Harris presidency, she also said she would extend prescription drug price caps to everyone, rather than just senior citizens.  Further, her plan included the establishment of a $40 billion fund for assistance to local governments to build more housing, as well as taking on landlords. DEM SOCIALIST SENATOR RALLIES BEHIND HARRIS’ PRICE-FIXING PLAN: ‘IMPORTANT STEP FORWARD’ “Her idea of having basically price controls—It’s never worked anywhere. This is pure socialism,” said Scott. “I want a free market. I want a bottom-up economy. I want capitalism. That’s what Trump stands for.” Johnson blasted Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., for their misconceptions of how businesses operate in the private sector. “It’s very hard to run a successful business,” he said.  According to Johnson, governmental leaders should have both an understanding of what it takes to run a business, as well as a sympathy for Americans creating and running businesses. “That’s why there’s such a stark contrast in terms of the vision that President Trump has for this country versus Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” he said.  “Under Harris, here’s what’s going to happen: We’re going to see more inflation with her price control idea. We’re going to see a lot of shortages,” said Scott in an interview with Fox News Digital.   DEM-ALIGNED GROUP HAMMERS HARRIS’ FORMER VP SHORTLISTER FOR TURNING ‘HIS BACK’ ON BLACK STUDENTS The Trump campaign previewed their intention to sap attention away from the DNC and provide their argument against Harris while she gets officially recognized as the Democratic nominee. “While we’re here at the DNC each day, president Trump and Senator Vance are doing battleground states,” said Trump campaign Senior Communication Advisor Brian Hughes. He revealed the campaign will be hosting daily press conferences at the Trump hotel with various campaign surrogates, in part to demonstrate the contrast with Harris, whose campaign has made her nearly inaccessible to all media.  “We’re not hearing a lot from Kamala Harris about these policies that she’s talking about,” Hughes pointed out.  Johnson further told “the mainstream media, the legacy media, the corporate media, you better start asking questions because the American public deserve answers from Vice President Kamala Harris.” In an interview with Fox News Digital, he predicted Harris will not hold any press conferences ahead of election day if she can get away with doing so. “The American people need to demand it. You’re running for the highest office in the land,” Johnson said.  TOP CONSERVATIVE THINK TANK EXPOSES HOW DEMS HAVE ‘ABANDONED ORDINARY AMERICANS’ WITH MAJOR SHIFT TO LEFT “It’s the bare minimum,” he added. “She didn’t go through a primary. She wasn’t vetted by the American people through that democratic process. She’s just been crowned the nominee, and now the mainstream media are going to just give her a free pass.” “That’d be a travesty,” the Wisconsin Republican said.  The two Republican senators further remarked on the noticeable absences of vulnerable Democratic senators from the DNC. “They know she’s toxic,” Scott told Fox News Digital of Sens. Jon Tester, D-Mont., Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Jacky Rosen, D-Nev. He claimed the senators are aware it would not help their campaign efforts to be pictured besides Harris.  “If you look at the ads they’re running, those senators act like they were their best friends with Donald Trump. Because they know that Harris’ ideas are horrible for their state and for their families,” the Florida senator said.  Johnson agreed, explaining the Democrats don’t want to be associated with Harris’ controversial policies. However, he said, “we can guarantee you that if they’re re-elected and Harris becomes president, they will vote with her virtually 100% of the time.” The Harris campaign did not immediately provide comment to Fox News Digital. VP Harris praises Biden in surprise remarks at DNC’s opening night: ‘We are forever grateful to you’

VP Harris praises Biden in surprise remarks at DNC’s opening night: ‘We are forever grateful to you’

CHICAGO — Vice President Kamala Harris delivered surprise remarks at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday night and praised President Biden calling him “incredible” and saying “we are forever grateful” to him. “It is so good to be with everyone this evening in this hall and everyone at home,” Harris told the crowd at the United Center on the convention’s opening night.  “This is going to be a great week. And I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible president, Joe Biden, who will be speaking later tonight. Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation and for all you will continue to do. We are forever grateful to you. Thank you. Joe.” Harris told the crowd that she sees the “beauty of our great nation” when she looks at everyone in attendance. ‘PUTRID’ DNC ANTISEMITISM DENOUNCED BY COUNTERPROTESTER WHO SAYS DEMS HAVE ‘LOST THE JEW VOTE’: ‘WE’RE DONE’ “People from every corner of our country and every walk of life are here, united by our shared vision for the future of our country,” Harris said. “And this November, we will come together and declare with one voice as one people, we are moving forward.” Harris said in closing, “With optimism, hope and faith so guided by our love of country, knowing we all have so much more in common than what separates us, let us fight for the ideals we hold dear and let us always remember when we fight, we win. God bless you. God bless the United States of America. Good night everyone.” COMMUNIST ACTIVIST SLAMS DEMS FOR ‘DECEPTIVE’ MESSAGING AT DNC: ‘THEY NEED VOTES’ Harris’ prime time remarks came at around 8 PM CST leading up to the planned speech of President Biden who will be addressing the convention weeks after he dropped out of the presidential race and Harris took his place as the nominee. Just over a month ago, Biden was considered the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, having won each Democratic primary race unchallenged.  But after a disastrous debate performance against former President Trump in June, Democrats began mounting a pressure campaign for Biden to suspend his re-election bid.  Axios reported earlier this week that Biden is “stunned” about the circumstances and pressure from within his own party to drop out of the race. Communist activist slams Dems for ‘deceptive’ messaging at DNC: ‘They need votes’

Communist activist slams Dems for ‘deceptive’ messaging at DNC: ‘They need votes’

CHICAGO — Communist protesters outside the Democratic National Convention in Chicago slammed Democrats’ message of “unity” this week, saying it’s a narrative commonly revived by party leaders when they “need votes.”  “They ask for unity when they need votes. But when you’re struggling, when you can’t pay rent, you know, it’s hard to afford groceries, then there’s no unity. Then you’re on your own. Then they’re all just like, ‘It’s your fault. You don’t make enough money, you’re just poor and dumb or whatever.’ Then there’s no talk of unity,” a co-founder of the Revolutionary Communists of America told Fox News Digital in an interview outside the United Center. “And then when they need votes and just get rich off their career in politics, then there’s unity. So, completely false, completely deceptive. Our task is to kind of expose that to everyone,” he continued.  Thousands of protesters descended on Chicago this week to rail against the Biden administration’s handling of the war in the Middle East and its support of Israel after Hamas’ attack on the nation last year. Protesters ranging from socialist, feminist, communist and environmental groups gathered at Union Park on Monday morning, which is located just blocks from the DNC’s campus, before marching in the city. PLANNED PARENTHOOD OFFERING FREE ABORTIONS, VASECTOMIES AT DNC The DNC kicks off in earnest Monday evening, when it will spotlight high-level Democrats in speeches, including President Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.  The Revolutionary Communists of America told Fox Digital that they anticipate Biden’s speech on Monday evening will be riddled with “lies and deception,” noting he’s unsure if Democrats overall can quell the war in the Middle East.  HARRIS PROPOSES MAJOR CORPORATE TAX HIKE, REVERSING TRUMP ERA CUTS “We expect just empty phrases, lip service, lies and deception,” the communist activists continued. “We don’t, you know, necessarily believe the Democrats are capable of doing anything for the Palestinian people,” the group’s co-founder added. Signs reading “Democrats fund the genocide of Palestinians” and “End U.S. aid to Israel” dominated the protest on Monday as dozens of left-wing groups joined the “March on the DNC 2024.” The protest demands U.S. leaders cut all funding to Israel as well as “Immigrant Rights and Legalization for All!” “Defend LGBTQIA+ & Reproductive Rights!” and “Stop police crimes! Community control of the police now!” according to the group’s website. DEMS’ SENATE CAMPAIGN CHAIR SAYS DEMS SKIPPING CONVENTION ‘KNOW WHAT’S BEST’ FOR THEM “The Democratic Party is complicit in the surging right-wing attacks on women, workers, and the LGBTQ+ community. In spite of their lip service to the women’s and LGBTQ+ movements, the Democratic Party has not backed their words with actions,” the protest website reads. The protests escalated Monday as the convention center began to fill with high-profile elected officials, delegates and supporters of the Harris-Walz ticket. Protesters managed to dismantle at least three panels of fencing surrounding the convention early Monday evening before police detained a handful of protesters. DNC policy platform slammed over ‘explicit’ Title IX protections for LGBT students: ‘Flagrant lawlessness’

DNC policy platform slammed over ‘explicit’ Title IX protections for LGBT students: ‘Flagrant lawlessness’

Delegates at the Democratic National Convention are set to vote Monday on the Democratic Party’s 2024 policy platform, which includes “explicit” Title IX protections for LGBT students that were just blocked by the Supreme Court.  The Democratic National Convention released the final 2024 Democratic Party platform Sunday night, after the one created during President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign was eventually scrapped. Vice President Kamala Harris announced her own presidential bid shortly after, generating a need for revisions that would better align with her own policy positions and a new vision for the party. The latest party platform mimics the Biden administration’s attempted rule making on Title IX to widen the definition of sex discrimination to include gender identity.  “After Friday’s SCOTUS order, the Biden-Harris Title IX rules are in effect in less than 50% of the country — underscoring the flagrant lawlessness of this policy, as well as the deep unpopularity of this issue,” Nicole Neily, the president and founder of parental rights group Parents Defending Education, told Fox News Digital. “Americans agree on relatively little these days, but opposition to progressive gender policies is one of the few issues that transcends racial, political, and socioeconomic lines — so doubling down on this issue is a risky move.” Matt Sharp, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian nonprofit that also focuses on parental rights issues, said the decision to include transgender protections in the Democratic Party’s platform “flies in the face of growing opinion” about expanding the definition of sex discrimination to include gender identity. “I think it’s really concerning to see the DNC platform sort of keep going down this same path that courts time and time again have pushed back on, have not allowed to move forward, and that ultimately the American public is not in favor of,” Sharp said. CAITLYN JENNER SAYS SCOTUS RULING AGAINST BIDEN-HARRIS TITLE IX CHANGE IS ‘GREAT NEWS’ FOR WOMEN’S SPORTS Sharp pointed out how efforts to redefine sex and sexual discrimination go all the way back to President Barack Obama’s administration. Once Trump took office, he rolled back the rule, but then it was put back in place by Biden.  “This has been a continuing pattern for several administrations to push this, but not only are the courts rebuffing it, but that the American public themselves are too, and we’re seeing it through more and more courageous female voices standing up against this,” Sharp said. Reed D. Rubinstein, senior vice president at America First Legal, the right-wing legal organization founded by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller, called the move to add protections for transgender students under Title IX “old news.” “The left has fought this reality for well over a decade — it has repeatedly attempted and repeatedly failed to amend Title IX in Congress. Twice, it has attempted to change the law by administrative fiat. To protect girls’ sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms, the Trump administration reversed the Obama administration’s ‘Dear Colleague’ letter that asserted ‘sex’ and ‘[gender identity’ are coextensive],” Rubinstein told Fox News Digital in a statement. “The Trump administration issued a Title IX rule that survived every single left-wing court challenge. Now, the courts have stopped the Biden-Harris administration’s attempt to rewrite the statute by regulation. But the Supreme Court, unanimously, has made it clear the word ‘sex’ in Title IX does not mean ‘gender identity,’ but rather, biological sex, male or female. Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment but did not receive a response. In addition to Title IX protections for transgender students, the DNC party platform also contains language that states Democrats will continue “to relieve the crippling burden of student debt” in 2024 — another policy effort under Biden that was rolled back by the Supreme Court. The platform blames Republicans for “block[ing] our student debt relief.” The Supreme Court ruled against the Biden administration’s plans for student debt cancelation last year, arguing the president stepped outside the bounds of his authority when he announced a plan to cancel up to $400 billion in student loans through executive action.

‘Putrid’ DNC antisemitism denounced by counterprotester who says Dems have ‘lost the Jew vote’: ‘We’re done’

‘Putrid’ DNC antisemitism denounced by counterprotester who says Dems have ‘lost the Jew vote’: ‘We’re done’

CHICAGO — A counterprotester outside the anti-Israel march on the Democratic National Convention told Fox News Digital the event represented “Jew hatred” and that the message will push Jewish voters to support former President Trump in November. “It is putrid Jew hatred under the guise of a political movement,” Anna Steinberg, director of Israel365, told Fox News Digital on the perimeter of the city’s Union Park as anti-Israel protesters were gathering before their march on the DNC on Monday. Steinberg, a Ukrainian Jewish refugee, told Fox News Digital that she believes the Democratic Party’s position on the war in Gaza will lead to a massive shift in Jewish voters backing Trump. “I think the Democratic Party has lost the Jews,” Steinberg said. “I think we’re gone. I think we’re gone. Eighty percent of Jews stayed in Egypt. 80% of Jews supported Obama. We are not voting for the Democrats anymore. We are not. We are done. We are not that stupid. We have broken that trauma cycle. We are done.” JOSH SHAPIRO DENIES ANTISEMITISM PLAYED ROLE IN HARRIS’ VP PICK Recent polling in deep-blue New York state suggests that Trump has taken the lead against Democrat presidential candidate Vice President Harris when it comes to Jewish voters, which Steinberg told Fox News Digital is a sentiment she has seen firsthand. “More people than I ever thought in my life, Jews have historically voted Democrat … all voted Democrat, they were part of the Democratic Party, they are now voting for Trump, vocally voting for Trump.” Steinberg said. “Thank God, we’ve woken them up.” HARRIS MEETING WITH ANTI-ISRAEL ‘UNCOMMITTED’ MOVEMENT OPENS SPECULATION ABOUT ARMS EMBARGO Steinberg continued,” It only took Oct. 7, 12,000 innocent babies, men and women for us to realize the predicament we are in, and we are finally voting for the party that has our back: the Republican Party and President Donald J. Trump.” Jewish voters have traditionally supported Democrat candidates for decades. According to an analysis by the American Enterprise Institute, Jewish voters have on average supported Democrats over Republicans by a margin of 71% to 26% since 1968. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Jewish voters supported Biden over Trump 68% to 30% in 2020, while in 2016 the same group chose Clinton over Trump by a margin of 71% to 26%.
