Democratic Socialists group boasts it helped make Walz Harris’ running mate: ‘Force that cannot be ignored’

Democratic Socialists group boasts it helped make Walz Harris’ running mate: ‘Force that cannot be ignored’

The Democratic Socialists of America took a victory lap on social media after Vice President Kamala Harris named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her 2024 running mate.  “Harris choosing Walz as a running mate has shown the world that DSA and our allies on the left are a force that cannot be ignored. Through collective action, DSA and the US left more broadly have made it clear that change is needed. DSA members organized in our workplaces and unions to realign the labor movement to support Palestinian liberation,” Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist group in the U.S., posted to X on Tuesday.  DSA went on to take credit for pressuring Democrats to allegedly snub other candidates in the running, including one “with direct ties to the IDF.” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro was reportedly one of the top contenders on Harris’ list of potential veeps and was a volunteer in the IDF in his youth.  The Democratic Socialists of America has long called for a ceasefire after Hamas launched its attack on Israel on Oct. 7 of last year, with the group failing to condemn Hamas and instead saying the attack was a “direct result of Israel’s apartheid regime.” HARRIS’ RUNNING MATE FACES RENEWED SCRUTINY AFTER HIS ‘WEIRD’ SOCIALISM COMPARISON RESURFACES “The Uncommitted movement, in which DSA members played crucial roles nationally and in multiple states, pressured the Democratic establishment into choosing a new candidate and backing down from a potential VP with direct ties to the IDF and who would have ferociously supported the ongoing genocide in Palestine,” the DSA continued in its X thread.  While celebrating Harris’ choice of Walz, the socialist group hammered that their “demands remain the same” regarding the war that has continued raging in Israel.  BLACK MALE VOTERS HAVE SURPRISING REACTION DURING MSNBC ROUNDTABLE WHEN ASKED ABOUT COMMUNITY TRUMP SUPPORT “Harris must call for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine and put in place an embargo on all arms to Israel,” the group wrote.  Walz is not a member of the DSA, but has made favorable comments regarding socialism, including last week during a “White Dudes for Harris” campaign call last week that was slammed by conservatives.  “Don’t ever shy away from our progressive values,” the Minnesota Democrat said. “One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.” LAURA INGRAHAM: WALZ HAS HELPED TANK LAW ENFORCEMENT IN HIS STATE AND IS ON HIS WAY TO TANKING EDUCATION Following Harris announcing Walz, former President Donald Trump said he was “thrilled” by the choice, due to Walz’s left-wing policies that he says American voters reject.  ‘NEVER HEARD OF HIM’: HARRIS VP PICK WALZ HAS LITTLE NOTORIETY AMONG TRUMP-VANCE VOTERS IN PA “If you look at his record with no walls, no security, let everybody in, he’s worse than they are,” he said. “Nobody knew how radical left she was, but he’s a smarter version of her, if you want to know the truth,” “Fox & Friends” co-hosts during an exclusive interview on Wednesday morning.  “There’s never been a ticket like this,” he continued. “This is a ticket that would want this country to go communist immediately, if not sooner. We want no security. We want no anything. He’s very heavy into transgender. Anything transgender he thinks is great, and he’s not where the country is on anything.”

‘She did that’: Harris hit with blistering 7-figure ad targeting her on key issues haunting VP tenure

‘She did that’: Harris hit with blistering 7-figure ad targeting her on key issues haunting VP tenure

FIRST ON FOX: Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris in a new ad that ties her to ongoing issues across the U.S. – including inflation, the border crisis and “death to America” protests. The seven-figure TV ad, called “She Did That,” plays off Harris’ congratulatory call to President Biden in November 2020, where she stated, “We did it, Joe. You’re going to be the next President of the United States.” “Yep, they did it all right. Now everything is more expensive,” Scott says in the ad, referencing inflation during the Biden administration. HARRIS TAKES 3-POINT LEAD OVER TRUMP AS SHE GAINS ON KEY ISSUES: POLL The ad then has Harris repeating “We did it” as Scott highlights images of campus protests that broke out in response to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. “Yep, now protesters are chanting ‘Death to America’ and burning our flag,” Scott says, before referencing the ongoing crisis at the southern border.  “They gave money, housing and health care to criminals bringing drugs into our country,” he says. ‘DEATH TO AMERICA’ RAPIDLY EMERGING AS KEY SLOGAN OF ANTI-ISRAEL AGITATORS IN US  “I’m Rick Scott, they did it, we’re going to undo it,” he said. The ad will run across Florida in every media market, his campaign said. “Senator Scott is fighting to undo the destruction of the Biden-Harris administration’s socialist agenda and is leading the fight to hold Biden and Harris accountable for their litany of failures,” his campaign said. “He will continue to remind Floridians how disastrous four more years of Kamala Harris would be for the state and the country.” The ad represents the latest effort to tie Harris to the policies of the Biden administration, during which she has served as vice president. In particular, Republicans have dubbed her the “border czar” over her role in handling root causes of migration – an assignment she was given in 2021.  Harris’ campaign has rejected the border czar title but have embraced what it sees as the successes of the administration, pointing to a strong economy and a recent sharp drop in encounters at the southern border, and promising to do more if she is elected president. “We fight for a future with affordable housing, affordable health care, affordable child care, paid leave. We fight for a future where we build a broad-based economy, where every American has the opportunity to own a home, to start a business, and to build wealth,” Harris said in a speech in Philadelphia on Tuesday. “We fight for a future where we bring down prices that are still too high and lower the cost of living for America’s families.” Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment. Walz slammed for ‘hesitating’ to send in Guard as his daughter tipped off rioters via social media

Walz slammed for ‘hesitating’ to send in Guard as his daughter tipped off rioters via social media

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey was critical of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s response to the unrest in his city in May 2020, saying later that year that the governor hesitated to send the National Guard as the city burned in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death. Frey spoke out about Walz’s response during an August 2020 interview with the Star Tribune, telling the outlet his office made multiple dire requests for National Guard resources to the governor that were not granted until after the city was forced to abandon a besieged police precinct. Texts and emails obtained by the Star Tribune for the story seemingly corroborate Frey’s claim, showing that Frey first placed a call to Walz on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, the second day of the unrest in Minneapolis, at 6:39 p.m. and asked the governor to call in the National Guard. KAMALA HARRIS TORN APART BY PRO-LIFERS FOR HISTORIC TRIP TO ABORTION CLINIC: ‘NORMALIZATION OF EVIL’ Walz, who has served as Minnesota’s governor since 2019, was selected as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate Tuesday, reopening old wounds about his handling of both the COVID-19 pandemic and the riots that spread across Minneapolis in May 2020. Frey’s May 27, 2020, call to the governor came after the mayor received a call from Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo just six minutes earlier, with Arradondo informing Frey that a Target near the police station was being looted and that he needed the National Guard. “We expressed the seriousness of the situation. The urgency was clear,” Frey said of his call with the governor. “He did not say yes,” Frey added. “He said he would consider it.” Frey also told the Star Tribune that he explicitly asked the governor if his verbal request constituted a formal one, with the governor’s office confirming that it did. Walz’s office would later dispute that claim. But the texts and emails obtained by the Star Tribune backed Frey’s story, showing the mayor’s spokesperson texted a small group of city employees at 6:28 p.m. that Wednesday that said Frey “just came out and said the chief wants him to call in the national guard for help at Third Precinct. Mayor appears intent on doing.” Frey’s policy director later updated the group, texting that Frey “called the governor just now.” Frey’s spokesperson updated the group again later that night, telling the employees that “Walz was hesitating.” The mayor told the Star Tribune that he never received confirmation the National Guard was coming the rest of Wednesday night or the following morning. VP KAMALA HARRIS PICKING GOV. TIM WALZ AS RUNNING MATE MET WITH MEDIA SCORN: ‘SUCH A WEIRD CHOICE’ The Minnesota Senate’s Joint Transportation and Judiciary and Public Safety Committee would later release its own findings of the sequence of events that night, with the Republican-controlled committee alleging that Walz “failed to act” as the unrest in Minneapolis continued to spin out of control, according to a report from the New York Post. “It was obvious to me that he froze under pressure, under a calamity, as people’s properties were being burned down,” Republican state Sen. Warren Limmer told the New York Times of the report while also suggesting that the governor may have had “personal sympathies” toward the rioters. The Senate report found that the request for the National Guard “was sent for at least 600 guardsmen at 9:11 p.m. Wednesday, May 27,” yet “Governor Walz eventually produced 100 guardsmen for the City of Minneapolis late in the evening on Thursday, May 28.” The mayor’s office did make another plea for National Guard troops the next morning, May 28, this time with a written request for the National Guard that noted “widespread looting and arson” and that both protesters and first responders had been injured in the unrest. “The ongoing situation is well-beyond the capability of our police and fire departments to respond,” Frey wrote in the request. A spokesperson for Walz told the Star Tribune that the governor “knows how much planning goes into a successful” National Guard mission, noting Walz was a “24-year veteran of the Minnesota National Guard.” “That’s why he pushed the City of Minneapolis for details and a strategy. He ordered the Minnesota National Guard to start preparing Thursday morning which allowed them to deploy to both St. Paul and Minneapolis that evening, per the Mayors’ requests,” the spokesperson said. HARRIS LEANING INTO ‘PRO-HAMAS,’ ‘PROGRESSIVE’ WINGS OF DEMOCRAT PARTY WITH WALZ VP PICK: GOP STRATEGIST Walz’s office also accused Frey of not being specific enough in his request and argued that the mayor never mentioned a need to protect the city’s Third Precinct, which would later burn to the ground. Walz eventually activated the National Guard at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, roughly 18 hours after Frey’s first request over the phone. The Star Tribune report notes that only about 90 soldiers were on the ground in the city by 10:30 that evening, though police officers had already evacuated the Third Precinct. According to the Senate committee report, around the same time the National Guard was being mobilized and starting to arrive in Minneapolis, the governor’s daughter, Hope Walz, was given “access” to “confidential information that she then disseminated to the general public and rioters.” Hope would go on to send multiple tweets that night seemingly tipping off protesters to the location of the National Guard. “Could someone who actually has followers rely [sic] to the masses that have gotten ‘national guard’ trending that the guard WILL NOT be present tonight??” Hope, who the New York Post noted was born in 2001, tweeted on May 28, 2020. “The guard can not be sent in within minutes,” she wrote in another tweet, adding that “it takes time for them to deploy because they come from all over the state.”  “To be clear, the national guard will not be present tonight,” she added.  KAMALA HARRIS PLAYED ‘CRITICAL’ ROLE IN CALIFORNIA CRIME LAW NOW ON CHOPPING BLOCK “Just because someone asked for something

‘Be afraid’: Bush threatens pro-Israel group in bizarre rant after wide-margin loss

Democratic Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri used her concession speech this week to blast the nation’s largest pro-Israel group, warning them to “be afraid.” Bush — who lost her primary election this week to a pro-Israel Democratic rival financially backed by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) — warned that the group’s influence on the election has “radicalized” her. Bush called out AIPAC in her concession speech — “All they did is radicalize me, so they need to be afraid,” she said.  ‘SQUAD’ REP CORI BUSH LOSES HIGHLY CONTENTIOUS PRIMARY AGAINST PRO-ISRAEL DEMOCRAT “AIPAC, I’m coming to tear your kingdom down,” Bush declared. “And let me put all of these corporations on notice, I’m coming after you too!”  Bush, a controversial lawmaker who rose to prominence in the Black Lives Matter movement, was denied a third term when Democratic voters nominated St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell for the seat that represents St. Louis City and part of St. Louis County.  Pro-Israel groups spent millions to unseat Bush, a vocal critic of the war in Gaza and the Jewish state.  ‘SQUAD’ REP CORI BUSH’S LOSS CHEERED BY RIGHT, LEFT SOUNDS OFF ON AIPAC SPENDING Bush said in her concession speech that leaving the legislature will strip her of “strings” holding her back from fighting AIPAC in earnest. “Because now, there are some strings that I have attached,” Bush said. “And as much as I love my job, all they did was radicalize me, and now they should be afraid.” Bell’s campaign received a big boost from the pro-Israel super PAC, whose super political action committee, United Democracy Project, spent $8.5 million to oust Bush. AIPAC targeted Bush as a weak candidate after her repeated criticism of Israel’s response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. It was a game plan that worked earlier this year in New York.  In June, United Democracy Project spent $15 million to defeat another Squad member — Bowman, who lost to George Latimer, a pro-Israel centrist. ‘Unacceptable’: Bombshell report on terrorists crossing border prompts outcry from top House committees

‘Unacceptable’: Bombshell report on terrorists crossing border prompts outcry from top House committees

The chairmen of two top House committees are blasting the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) over a lack of answers after the release of an alarming report on potential terror threats at the border. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chair Mike Turner, R-Ohio, and House Homeland Security Committee Chair Mark Green, R-Tenn., were responding to findings by the House Judiciary Committee that nearly 100 illegal immigrants on the terror watch list were released into the country during the Biden administration. “It’s unacceptable that the Biden-Harris Administration has left our southern border open and that they don’t know who is coming into our country or where they are once here – including potential terrorists,” Turner and Green said in a joint statement. The two Republican lawmakers wrote to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in April asking about what, if any, processes were in place to detect individuals on the terror watch list trying to cross the U.S. border and finding where they are if released. BIDEN DHS REVEALS 50 MIGRANTS STILL AT LARGE AS ISIS-AFFILIATED SMUGGLING NETWORK BRINGS HUNDREDS TO US “The FBI and DHS have yet to answer these most basic questions,” they said. “Since the Biden-Harris Administration’s failed open border policies have welcomed potential terrorists into our nation, we’re working to combat these threats and safeguard Americans in their own backyards. The FBI and DHS must answer our requests.” The FBI declined to comment on the statement. Fox News Digital also reached out to DHS for comment. FBI Director Christopher Wray has himself warned about potential terror threats emanating from the southwestern border in multiple public congressional hearings.  He told the House Judiciary Committee recently, “I have warned for some time now about the threat that foreign terrorists may seek to exploit our southwest border or some other port of entry to advance a plot against Americans. Just last month, for instance, the Bureau and our joint terrorism task forces worked with ICE in multiple cities across the country as several individuals with suspected international terrorist ties were arrested using ICE’s immigration authorities.” AUTHORITIES NAB 8 SUSPECTED TERRORISTS WITH TIES TO ISIS IN MULTI-CITY STING OPERATION “Leading up to those arrests, hundreds of FBI employees dedicated countless hours to understand the threat and identify additional individuals of concern,” Wray said. “As concerning as the known or suspected terrorists encountered at the border are, perhaps even more concerning are those we do not yet know about because they provided fake documents or because we didn’t have information connecting them to terrorism at the time they arrived in the United States.” The report, released earlier this week and obtained first by Fox News Digital, claimed that at least 99 illegal immigrants on the terror watch list were released into the U.S. by DHS after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border between fiscal years 2021 and 2023. At least 34 others are in DHS custody but have not yet been removed from the U.S., the report said. ICE SOUNDS ALARM ON WHAT MIGRANTS ARE FAILING TO BRING TO BORDER AS FEARS MOUNT AFTER ISIS ARRESTS The staff interim report also found that immigration judges granted bond to at least 27 migrants on the watchlist who entered illegally, and that Border Patrol has encountered tens of thousands of migrants from countries that could present national security risks – including 2,134 Afghan nationals, 33,347 Chinese nationals, 541 Iranian nationals, 520 Syrian nationals, and 3,104 Uzbek nationals. “That does not include the untold numbers of potential terrorists that evaded Border Patrol to enter the United States as part of nearly 2 million ‘gotaways’ since the beginning of the Biden-Harris Administration,” the report says. The report, citing information provided to committee staff in June, also found that Border Patrol had encountered migrants on the terror watchlist from 36 different countries – including places with active terror presences. Those countries include Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Tajikistan and Yemen.

‘Never heard of him’: Harris VP pick Walz has little notoriety among Trump-Vance voters in PA

‘Never heard of him’: Harris VP pick Walz has little notoriety among Trump-Vance voters in PA

Voters in Pennsylvania in attendance at a campaign event for Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, reacted to Vice President Kamala Harris’ announcement of her running mate on Tuesday, with many of them having never heard of him before.  “Never heard of him,” Sheila Armstrong from Philadelphia told Fox News Digital in response to Harris’ choice of Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn. “Not before today,” she explained.  She even joked, “I was looking on the map where Minnesota was at again.” TRUMP-ENDORSED MIKE ROGERS WINS REPUBLICAN SENATE PRIMARY IN MICHIGAN Thomas Quinn from Downingtown also hadn’t heard of Walz prior to his inclusion on the vice president’s short list.  “Which is why I have not done any homework,” he said. “I don’t really know much about him. I understand it takes a lot to be a governor. And I also understand that he’s a veteran… So I really don’t know that much about it, but I’ll do my reading.” Cliff Skinner, also from the Keystone State, said he had “never” heard of Walz either. He added that he was “not really too impressed” by the selection.  “I had not. I have to be honest,” replied Kaitlin Derstine from Montgomery County when asked by Fox News Digital if she had known who Walz was before he was being vetted as a potential running mate for Harris.  She remarked that the news she was already seeing about him was “not very good,” and suggested, “I think that [Harris] probably chose him based on his appearance and what she needed to complement her on her candidacy.” Perry Petrongola from South Philadelphia had similarly known “not a whole lot” about Walz.  “I believe he’s the governor of Minnesota. He’s very liberal and against guns.” He summarized Walz as having a “typical liberal agenda.” “Two liberals, birds of a feather, flock together,” he claimed.  DEMOCRAT REP ELISSA SLOTKIN WINS SENATE PRIMARY IN MICHIGAN Those who had heard of the relatively unknown Walz were not happy with what they knew. “I know that he is extremely left, and he also is in agreement with sexual reassignment of, and mutilating young kids,” said Leah Hoops from Delaware County. “And he is also allowing illegals to vote in our elections.” “I think he’s more socialist, going toward her agenda,” explained Linda DellaPia from South Philadelphia. “Look at the raids that happened in his home state, that he allowed it, and he actually bailed people out,” she said, referencing the 2020 riots in Minnesota following the death of George Floyd.  “Why didn’t he bring in the national services – the National Guard – to actually help alleviate some of those tensions?” she asked.  ‘HIS RECORD IS A JOKE’: VANCE TEARS INTO HARRIS VP PICK WALZ AT PHILADELPHIA COUNTER-RALLY “He was a part of the conversation when the George Floyd riots and all of that came about,” DellaPia recalled.  Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., told Fox News Digital at Tuesday’s rally, “I think that the Harris campaign and the DNC has decided to go with someone who more matches with Kamala Harris.” “Gov. Walz is a self-proclaimed socialist, so clearly they feel comfortable with someone who’s a self-proclaimed socialist, as opposed to someone like Josh Shapiro, who’s quite liberal and quite left-leaning, but, apparently a little too rational and sane for them,” he said, referencing the speculation that Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro would be chosen as her running mate.  “The fact that Gov. Josh Shapiro was very supportive of the state of Israel – I can’t help but think that that weighed in, because there’s really no other reason, when Pennsylvania is such a swing state and so meaningful to this race, that they didn’t choose someone from Pennsylvania,” the congressman said.  According to Meuser, “We would have lost some votes. I mean, that’s the reality. And it would have been a little closer” if Shapiro had been chosen. BIDEN, DEMS RACE TO BEAT TRUMP’S RECORD ON CONFIRMED JUDGES AS ELECTION LOOMS “It just shows what the DNC and the Harris campaign is about. They are about socialism. They are about sanctuary cities. They’re about open borders. They’re about big government, small economy. And they have the most anti-American energy ticket that you can imagine,” he said.  “Outside of that, they’re wonderful,” he joked.  On the Shapiro running mate snub, Trump-Vance supporters were thankful that Harris chose Walz. DellaPia claimed Shapiro would have been “the smarter move.” “I’m glad she didn’t pick Shapiro,” she said.  Armstrong echoed this sentiment, remarking, “I’m just happy she didn’t pick Josh Shapiro.” “Pennsylvania is already a messy state when it comes to elections and voting. By picking Josh Shapiro, it would have made the process even more messier,” she claimed. “And I would say it would have been more likelihood of people to cheat and do illegal things, because it would have been a homegrown person versus somebody that they didn’t know.” Fox News reached out to the Harris-Walz campaign for comment. JD Vance accuses Tim Walz of ‘lying’ about military service: ‘Stolen valor garbage’

JD Vance accuses Tim Walz of ‘lying’ about military service: ‘Stolen valor garbage’

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, accused Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz of dodging his military service and misleading the country about his veteran status on Wednesday. Vance made the statement while taking questions from reporters at a campaign rally in Detroit. A reporter asked Vance about Walz’ attempt to frame him as a member of the elite who attended an Ivy League school.Yea “I came from a family where nobody in my family had ever gone to law school. I grew up in a poor family. The fact that Tim Walz wants to turn it into a bad thing, that I actually worked myself through college, through law school and made something myself –  to me, that’s the American dream. And if Tim Walz wants to insult it, I think that’s frankly pretty bizarre,” Vance said before launching into an attack on Walz. KAMALA HARRIS’ TREATMENT OF STAFF UNDER SCRUTINY AS REPORTS OF POOR OFFICE CULTURE RESURFACE “As a marine who served his country in uniform when the United States Marine Corps, when the United States of America asked me to go to Iraq to serve my country, I did it. I did what they asked me to do it, and I did it honorably,” he said. “When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, you know what he did? He dropped out of the army and allowed his unit to go without him, a fact that he’s been criticized for aggressively by a lot of the people that he served with.”  Vance continued, “I think it’s shameful to prepare your unit to go to Iraq, to make a promise that you’re going to follow through, and then to drop out right before you actually have to go.” HARRIS LAPS TRUMP IN CASH DASH THANKS TO FUNDRAISING SURGE Vance went on to highlight comments from Walz on gun control, saying the governor had used his questionable military history in an attempt to push gun restrictions. “He said, ‘We shouldn’t allow weapons that I used in war to be on America’s streets.’ Well, I wonder, Tim Walz, when were you ever in war? When was this? What was this weapon that you carried into war, given that you abandoned your unit right before they went to Iraq, and he has not spent a day in a combat zone? What bothers me about Tim Walz is the stolen Valor garbage,” Vance said. Vance also urged reporters to hold Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris accountable. Harris has not taken questions from the press in the 17 days since President Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed her. HARRIS LAPS TRUMP IN CASH DASH THANKS TO FUNDRAISING SURGE Former President Trump has accused Harris of hiding behind her teleprompter even as Biden “hid in his basement.”

With 29 days until voting starts, ‘election season’ kicks off sooner than you think

With 29 days until voting starts, ‘election season’ kicks off sooner than you think

There are 89 days until Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5. But if Americans vote like they did in the last two election cycles, most of them will have already cast a ballot before the big day. Early voting starts as soon as Sept. 6 for eligible voters, with seven battleground states sending out ballots to at least some voters the same month. It makes the next few months less a countdown to Election Day, and more the beginning of “election season.” VANCE PRAISED FOR ‘ABSOLUTE FIRE’ TAKEDOWN OF HARRIS-WALZ ‘TAG TEAM’ RIOT ENABLERS: ‘MAKE AMERICA BURN AGAIN’ States have long allowed at least some Americans to vote early, like members of the military or people with illnesses.  In some states, almost every voter casts a ballot by mail. Many states expanded eligibility in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic made it riskier to vote in-person. That year, the Fox News Voter Analysis found that 71% of voters cast their ballots before Election Day, with 30% voting early in-person and 41% voting by mail. Early voting remained popular in the midterms, with 57% of voters casting a ballot before Election Day. TIM WALZ’S SELECTION AS HARRIS RUNNING MATE DRAWS SKEPTICISM, EVEN AMONG ANTI-TRUMP FIGURES Elections officials stress that voting early is safe and secure. Recounts, investigations and lawsuits filed after the 2020 election did not reveal evidence of widespread fraud or corruption.  There are a few ways to vote before Election Day. The first is early in-person voting, where a voter casts a regular ballot in-person at a voting center before Election Day. The second is voting by mail, where the process and eligibility varies by state. Eight states vote mostly by mail, including California, Colorado, Nevada and Utah. Registered voters receive ballots and send them back. Most states allow any registered voter to request a mail ballot and send it back. This is also called mail voting, or sometimes absentee voting. Depending on the state, voters can return their ballot by mail, at a drop box, and/or at an office or facility that accepts mail ballots. In 14 states, voters must have an excuse to vote by mail, ranging from illness, age, work hours or if a voter is out of their home county on Election Day. States process and tabulate ballots at different times. Some states don’t begin counting ballots until election night, which delays the release of results. This list of early voting dates is for guidance only. For comprehensive and up-to-date information on voter eligibility, processes and deadlines, go to Vote.gov and your state’s elections website. The first voters to be sent absentee ballots will be in North Carolina, which begins mailing out ballots for eligible voters on Sept. 6. Seven more battleground states open up early voting the same month, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan and Nevada.
