Harris’ momentum a reflection of Democrat ‘relief’ replacing Biden: GOP strategist

Harris’ momentum a reflection of Democrat ‘relief’ replacing Biden: GOP strategist

Vice President Kamala Harris’ momentum could be the result of Democrats feeling relieved they are running a candidate other than President Biden rather than her strength as a candidate, a GOP strategist says. The Democratic ticket has seen a boost in several polls conducted since Biden withdrew his re-election bid, with surveys showing Harris performing better than the president against former President Trump. A GOP strategist tells Fox News that the momentum might not be the result of Harris herself, but rather the Democratic Party feeling hopeful about a replacement for Biden. “It’s mostly a reflection of the relief Democrats feel moving past the Biden campaign, which appeared doomed,” GOP strategist David Kochel told Fox News Digital.  RON DESANTIS BLASTS MAINSTREAM MEDIA FOR ‘WHITEWASHING’ KAMALA HARRIS’ RECORD: ‘BLIZZARD OF LIES’ Fox News polling found that since Biden dropped out of the race, Harris has gained a slight lead over Trump in almost every swing state. PIERS MORGAN SAYS KAMALA HARRIS WILL MAKE HISTORY IF ELECTED AS ‘LITERALLY’ THE MOST FAR-LEFT SENATOR Harris tied with Trump in Michigan, a state the former president was leading Biden by 8 points in January, according to a recent Detroit News WDIV-TV survey. Additionally, Harris received a favorability boost of nearly 10 points over the course of one week after Biden withdrew from the race, according to an ABC News/Ipsos survey.  Democrats have touted Harris’ success rate and say that she is uniting the party. “It is so remarkable how in a matter of days Harris has consolidated our big tent party, and this is something that is coming from the ground up,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told Fox News, describing a “level of energy that I haven’t seen on the campaign trail in a long time.” However, Kochel told Fox that Harris’ momentum will be tested after the Democratic National Convention in August, when she will likely be named the party’s official 2024 nominee. “If she sustains it through the convention, it will be more a reflection of her performance,” Kochel said. “We’ll know in a month what to call it.”

How long will the Kamala Harris honeymoon in the polls against Donald Trump last?

How long will the Kamala Harris honeymoon in the polls against Donald Trump last?

It is back to being a margin-of-error race for the White House. Former President Trump saw his edge over President Biden expand in the wake of last month’s disastrous debate performance by Biden, as calls grew louder from within his own party for the president to drop out of the race. However, in the eight days since Biden ended his re-election bid, and Vice President Kamala Harris quickly consolidated party support and became the Democrats’ presumptive 2024 nominee, polls indicate it is once again a margin-of-error race. More importantly, it is all tied up again in the battleground states that will likely decide the outcome of the presidential election. Fox News polls conducted after Biden’s blockbuster announcement in three of the seven crucial states – Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin – indicated Trump and Harris all knotted up. WHAT THE LATEST FOX NEWS POLLING IN THE KEY BATTLEGROUNDS SHOWS  Additionally, in Minnesota and New Hampshire – where Republicans have not won a presidential election in decades, but recent polls indicated Trump was very competitive with Biden – the latest surveys indicate the Democrats re-establishing single digit leads with Harris at the top of the ticket. 2024 SHOWDOWN: TRUMP QUICKLY MOVES TO TRY AND DEFINE HARRIS  Veteran GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio, who polls for the Trump campaign, predicted it last Tuesday as he pointed to what he called the “Harris Honeymoon.” “We will start to see public polling – particularly national public polls – where Harris is gaining on or even leading President Trump,” Fabrizio wrote in a campaign memo.  “The Democrats and the MSM [main stream media] will try and tout these polls as proof that the race has changed. But the fundamentals of the race stay the same. The Democrats deposing one Nominee for another does NOT change voters discontent over the economy, inflation, crime, the open border, housing costs not to mention concern over two foreign wars,” Fabrizio argued. THE STATE OF THE RACE WITH 100 DAYS TO GO UNTIL THE NOVEMBER ELECTION He predicted that “before long, Harris’ ‘honeymoon’ will end and voters will refocus on her role as Biden’s partner and co-pilot. As importantly, voters will also learn about Harris’ dangerously liberal record before becoming Biden’s partner.” “While the public polls may change in the short run and she may consolidate a bit more of the Democrat base, Harris can’t change who she is or what she’s done,” Fabrizio emphasized. However, veteran Democratic pollster Chris Anderson says it is too soon to make predictions. “Time will tell, but I’m not even sure she has seen her bump yet. It’s only been a week, so the reality that Harris is the nominee is still settling in, and campaign lines are still being drawn,” said Anderson, a member of the Fox News Election Decision Team and the Democratic partner on the Fox News Poll. Anderson noted that “soon [Harris} will make her VP pick, then there’s the convention. So she has an on-ramp to keep dominating new cycles. So sure, maybe the polls now reflect a bump that will quickly dissipate. Or maybe they are the start of a trend.” Get the latest updates from the 2024 campaign trail, exclusive interviews and more at our Fox News Digital election hub.

Capture of 3 Palestinian terror suspects at border comes months after officials warned of Hamas fears

Capture of 3 Palestinian terror suspects at border comes months after officials warned of Hamas fears

The reported capture of three Palestinian migrants at the southern border found to have terror ties marks the latest incident of migrants with terror links — and comes after officials told agents to be on the lookout for Hamas-tied fighters. The New York Post reported that three migrants with “possible ties to terrorist organizations” turned themselves in at the border in California, and one of the migrants had “salacious photos” on their phone, including an image of a masked man holding an AK-47 rifle.  In addition to the Palestinians, one migrant from Turkey is suspected of having ties to terror groups. PALESTINIANS WITH TERROR TIES DETAINED AFTER ILLEGALLY CROSSING SOUTHERN BORDER, AGENTS OVERWHELMED: REPORT  It is unclear which terrorist organization the migrants were allegedly affiliated with, and the outlet reported that the case was being investigated by federal authorities. The apprehensions come months after Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had issued a memo in October in San Diego, warning that those “inspired by, or reacting to, the current Israel-Hamas conflict may attempt travel to or from the area of hostilities in the Middle East via circuitous transit across the Southwest border.” DEM WHO CRITICIZED VP HARRIS’ HANDLING OF SOUTHERN BORDER ENDORSES HER FOR PRESIDENT “Foreign fighters motivated by ideology or mercenary soldiers of fortune may attempt to obfuscate travel to or from the US to or from countries in the Middle East through Mexico.” It warns of possible indicators, including military-age males, the possession of military gear, single travelers, an undetermined return plan and an association with the region. CBP had stressed at the time that it “provides frontline personnel a wide range of context for situational awareness in order to ensure they remain vigilant in fulfillment of our homeland and border security missions” “Situational awareness briefs are not threat assessments,” an official added. The number of caught illegal migrants whose names appear on the terror watchlist has significantly increased under the Biden administration, from a handful before he took office to 98 for fiscal year 2022. The number skyrocketed to 169 in fiscal year 2023, according to federal data. So far this fiscal year, there have been 93 encounters. AUTHORITIES NAB 8 SUSPECTED TERRORISTS WITH TIES TO ISIS IN MULTI-CITY STING OPERATION The TSDS contains sensitive information on terrorist identities. It initially contained only known or suspected terrorists but now also includes additional individuals who represent a “potential threat to the United States, including known affiliates of watchlisted individuals.” However, the threat of potential terrorists coming through the border has been a constant concern given the massive number of migrants coming through the southern border, with a record 2.4 million encounters in FY 23. Last month, alarm bells were sounded after DHS identified over 400 individuals brought to the U.S. from Eastern European and Central Asian countries by an ISIS-affiliated smuggling network. DHS said of the remaining 50 individuals still at large, a small number may be on the watch list, but there was no intelligence that suggests the remaining individuals pose an imminent threat. CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF THE BORDER SECURITY CRISIS Before that, eight Tajikistan nationals with ties to ISIS were busted by federal authorities in New York City, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. All eight came in via the southern border illegally, but no concerning information was flagged during processing.  FBI Director Christopher Wray has warned about potential terrorist attacks and recently said that there is an increasing concern of a potential coordinated attack in the U.S., similar to the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) attack in March at a concert hall in Russia. In March, he also warned of a “wide array” of threats at the border. “From an FBI perspective, we are seeing a wide array of very dangerous threats that emanate from the border. And that includes everything from drug trafficking — the FBI alone seized enough fentanyl in the last two years to kill 270 million people — that’s just on the fentanyl side,” he said. Victim of brutal 2008 illegal migrant attack speaks out about Harris’ record as prosecutor

Victim of brutal 2008 illegal migrant attack speaks out about Harris’ record as prosecutor

A California woman who in 2008 fell victim to a violent attack at the hands of an undocumented immigrant is speaking out against Vice President Kamala Harris, who as San Francisco District Attorney, launched a program that set the victim’s attacker free. Amanda Kiefer was walking with a group of friends in San Francisco when 20-year-old Alexander Izaguirre stole her purse and then attempted to run her down in a waiting SUV, fracturing the woman’s skull. Izaguirre, who was in the country illegally, had been arrested a few months prior to the attack on drug charges but was able to roam free thanks to a program launched by Harris, then the city’s district attorney, that allowed non-violent offenders to avoid jail and instead enter job training and eventually have their records expunged. Kiefer, who was 29 at the time of the attack, is now speaking out about the trauma for the first time in 15 years, telling ABC News that the incident was a “wake up” call for her. HARRIS FAILED TO COMBAT ‘ROOT CAUSES’ OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, FORMER BORDER PATROL UNION CHIEF SAYS “When a policy negatively affects you, you wake up,” Keifer, now 45, told the outlet. The brutal attack has re-entered the spotlight after the Republican National Committee released a two-minute campaign advertisement targeting Harris, arguing that the now-vice president and Democratic nominee for president was “liberal on illegal immigration before she ever reached the White House.” The ad highlighted the case of Kiefer, saying that Harris “allowed illegal immigrant drug dealers to enter job training” instead of being jailed. “If people who committed crimes were allowed to stay out of prison to train for jobs they couldn’t legally hold, I think most Americans would disapprove of that,” Kiefer said of the program. The ABC News report highlighted that Harris has in the past acknowledged that the program, which was called “Back on Track” and was touted as being “smart on crime,” was not perfect, telling the Los Angeles Times in 2009 that there was a “flaw in the design” of the program that allowed illegal immigrants to remain free, even though they would be unlikely to take advantage of the job training. THE MEDIA’S SUDDEN REJECTION OF KAMALA HARRIS’ ‘BORDER CZAR’ LABEL “The whole point of the program [was] … to obtain and hold down lawful employment” — and that someone in the country illegally “probably would not be able to do that, so it would go against the very spirit of the program,” Harris said at the time. “I believe we fixed it,” Harris added. “So moving forward, it is about making sure that no one enters Back on Track if they cannot hold legal employment.” The RNC ad and Kiefer speaking out on the issue comes as the Trump campaign seeks to highlight Harris’ record on the border, an issue that has been politically challenging for an administration that saw illegal crossings reach all-time highs before recent asylum restrictions helped those numbers dip to a three-year low in June. Harris was given a prominent role in helping address the crisis in the early days of the administration, being tasked by President Biden to lead an effort to address the “root causes” of illegal migration, most notably through diplomatic outreach to the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. However, critics say the vice president’s work on the issue was a failure, arguing that Harris did not do enough to prevent what would become a growing crisis. “It’s very disappointing,” Brandon Judd, who recently retired as president of the Border Patrol Union, told Fox News Digital of Harris’ border record last week. “We gave her the policies that she needed to implement. She refused to implement those.” Kiefer, meanwhile, told ABC News that the experience was a “red pill moment” for her, leading her to abandon what she said were her liberal political views from the time and embrace candidates such as former President Trump. The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital request for comment.

Cruz seeks to ‘safeguard’ schools from CCP influence, require parental review of foreign curricula

Cruz seeks to ‘safeguard’ schools from CCP influence, require parental review of foreign curricula

EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Ted Cruz will put forward a bill Monday aimed at curbing the influence of China and other malign actors in U.S. schools. Cruz, R-Texas, authored the Senate’s version of the Transparency in Reporting of Adversarial Contributions to Education (TRACE) Act.  The legislation requires schools to give parents the ability to review – or “trace” – any curriculum provided by foreign actors or purchased with foreign funding. Cruz said it is imperative that such guardrails be put in place, as American adversaries see the younger generation as a ripe target. LANDMARK BILL TARGETS HIDDEN FOREIGN FUNDS IN SCHOOLS, AS OFFICIALS WARN OF CCP INFLUENCE “The Chinese Communist Party exerts vast resources to control what Americans see, hear, and ultimately think,” Cruz said. “The CCP continues to target American educational institutions, as do other foreign adversaries. The TRACE Act will give parents the transparency they need and deserve, and help safeguard classrooms from foreign influence.” In the case of China, the CCP’s control of the social media app TikTok has long been under fire for its pattern of influencing youth.  In June, House Education Committee member Aaron Bean, R-Fla., drafted the lower chamber’s version of the first-of-its kind legislation. Bean separately added that U.S. schools are for “education, not espionage.” “We cannot allow our students – the future of our great nation – to be corrupted by foreign adversaries who are systematically and aggressively attempting to influence our nation’s K-12 schools,” he said. “That’s why it’s so important we solidify the rights of parents to know how foreign influence may be impacting their child’s classroom and take concrete steps to deter the ability of foreign nations to reach America’s youth.” The Jacksonville lawmaker went on to thank Cruz for putting forward companion legislation, expediting the process of sending the bill to President Biden’s desk, should it pass both chambers. Cruz’s bill also won the endorsement of Parents Defending Education, a grassroots group focused on blunting activist agendas in schools. “When parents send their children to school, they should have the peace of mind in knowing where the education funds are coming from,” PDEA director of federal affairs Michele Exner said Monday. POMPEO LABELS TEACHERS UNION BOSS ‘AMONG THE MOST DANGEROUS PEOPLE’ IN THE US “Unfortunately, there is alarming evidence found by our partner organization, Parents Defending Education, showing foreign nations, particularly adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party, are trying to use America’s classrooms to advance their strategic objectives at our country’s expense. We cannot allow this to happen.” The bill mandates that schools must furnish parents with information about curricula that are sourced or funded by foreign entities at no cost. It also specifies that school districts are to prominently post or disseminate a statement of parents’ rights under this policy at the beginning of each school year. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP In 2023, Oklahoma’s top elected education official called for congressional action to blunt such foreign influence. Oklahoma Superintendent of Education Ryan Walters previously called CCP influence a national security risk and noted in a recent Fox News Digital interview that schools in the Sooner State are prohibited from partnering with “antagonistic” countries. In the same way that Mao Zedong’s “Little Red Book” indoctrinated Chinese youth in the mid-20th century, similar risks are present today thorough foreign funding and “Confucius Classroom” programs, Walters said.

Elon Musk blasts Google over omission of Trump assassination search suggestions

Elon Musk blasts Google over omission of Trump assassination search suggestions

Billionaire Elon Musk suggested that Google’s omission of search functions for the assassination attempt against former President Trump may be improper. Musk took to social media to highlight that Google Search’s autocomplete feature omitted results relating to the July 13 shooting. Google has denied taking any action to limit the results. “Wow, Google has a search ban on President Donald Trump.” Musk wrote. “Election interference?” “They’re getting themselves into a lot of trouble if they interfere with the election,” he wrote in a follow-up post. NY BALLOT INITIATIVE COULD BLOCK PARENTS FROM SAY IN CHILD’S TRANS SURGERY, CRITICS WARN IN FIERY CAMPAIGN A Google spokesperson told FOX Business that there was no “manual action taken on these predictions.” META ADDING AI DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENT FOR 2024 ELECTION ADS “Our systems have protections against Autocomplete predictions associated with political violence, which were working as intended prior to this horrific event occurring,” the spokesperson wrote. “We’re working on improvements to ensure our systems are more up to date.” Screenshots from Google showed recommended search results of the failed assassination of former President Reagan and the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, whose death sparked World War I, the shooting of Bob Marley and the failed attempt on former President Ford.  GOOGLE TO REQUIRE POLITICAL ADS TO DISCLOSE USE OF AI DURING 2024 ELECTION CYCLE Even the keywords “Trump assassination attempt” yielded no additional terms from Google, according to users.  “Big Tech is trying to interfere in the election AGAIN to help Kamala Harris,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote on X. “We all know this is intentional election interference from Google. Truly despicable.” Google’s spokesperson went on to say the autocomplete feature is “just a tool to help people save time” and they can still search for anything they want.  “Following this terrible act, people turned to Google to find high quality information – we connected them with helpful results, and will continue to do so,” the company said.  Fox News’ Louis Casiano contributed to this report.

Historian who predicted almost every election since 1984 reveals who is likely to win in Trump-Harris matchup

Historian who predicted almost every election since 1984 reveals who is likely to win in Trump-Harris matchup

The “Keys to the White House” are currently favoring Vice President Kamala Harris in a hypothetical 2024 matchup against former President Trump, but a final prediction for the 2024 race is yet to be made. Allan Lichtman, an election forecaster who has correctly predicted nearly every presidential race since 1984, developed a formula that is used to make predictions about an upcoming presidential election – and in most cases, it proves to be right.  Lichtman’s “Keys to the White House” consists of 13 true or false questions that he believes establish a strong indication of who will be named the victor on the fall ballot. Each question is asked about the two dueling nominees; if “true” they are given a “key,” and if “false,” their competitor receives the point. Then, if one party’s candidate receives six or more keys, they are the predicted winner. At the beginning of the cycle, Democrats were handed one automatic “key” for President Biden’s incumbency – but the ballot has since seen a dramatic shift.  PIERS MORGAN SAYS KAMALA HARRIS WILL MAKE HISTORY IF ELECTED AS ‘LITERALLY’ THE MOST FAR-LEFT SENATOR The “keys” are as follows: – party mandate– contest– incumbency– third party– short-term economy– long-term economy– policy change, – social unrest– scandal– foreign/military failure– foreign/military success– incumbent charisma– challenger charisma Democrats, with Harris being the likely nominee, currently hold six of the 13 keys, according to Lichtman’s prediction. These include primary contest, short-term economy, long-term economy, policy change, no scandal, and no challenger charisma. HARRIS VS. TRUMP: 100 DAYS FROM ELECTION, IT’S A DRAMATICALLY ALTERED PRESIDENTIAL RACE Republicans hold three keys: winning the House majority in the 2022 midterms, the current incumbent not seeking re-election, and the current incumbent lacking charisma. There are still four more keys that have yet to be handed out.  The remaining keys include the third party factor, which Lichtman says is notable given Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s place in the race. Keys are also still in the air for having “no social unrest,” as well as “foreign military failure” and “foreign military success.” If Democrats lose three more keys, then they would be the projected “losers,” according to the election prognosticator’s formula. A final prediction has not yet been made for the 2024 race, but Lichtman told News Nation that he believes “a lot would have to go wrong for Harris to lose.” Lichtman correctly predicted Trump would win in 2016, and Biden in 2020. The historian will make his final prediction for this cycle after Democrats choose their nominee at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in August.
