Gold Star families slam Kamala Harris for ‘playing politics’ over Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery

Gold Star families slam Kamala Harris for ‘playing politics’ over Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery

Vice President Kamala Harris was recently excoriated by Gold Star family members who accused the Democratic presidential candidate of politicizing an incident at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday. The messages were posted on former President Trump’s Instagram account. Eight videos, each featuring different parents of service members killed by ISIS-K terrorists amid the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan on Aug. 26, 2021, were published in total. The videos were released in the wake of a statement published by Harris on Saturday, where the vice president criticized Trump for taking photographs at a wreath-laying ceremony event on Monday. The Army said this week that an Arlington National Cemetery official was “abruptly pushed aside” while interacting with Trump’s staff.  “As Vice President, I have had the privilege of visiting Arlington National Cemetery several times,” Harris said. “It is not a place for politics. And yet, as was reported this week, Donald Trump’s team chose to film a video there, resulting in an altercation with cemetery staff.” TRUMP IMPERSONATES ELON MUSK TALKING ABOUT ROCKETS: ‘I’M DOING A NEW STAINLESS STEEL HUB’ “Let me be clear: the former president disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt,” she claimed, before adding that she would “never politicize” such an event. The Gold Star family members maintained that they had asked Trump for photographs, as opposed to Trump taking pictures to advance his campaign. In one video, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz called Harris’ post “heinous, vile and disgusting.” “Why did we want Trump there? It wasn’t to help his political campaign,” Mark Schmitz said in the video. “We wanted a leader. That explains why you and Joe didn’t get a call.” Darren Hoover, the father of Marine Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, said that Harris lacks “empathy and basic understanding” about Monday’s event, and stressed that Trump’s appearance was respectful. HARRIS SLAMS TRUMP OVER ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY ALTERCATION, PROMPTING FIERY RESPONSE FROM JD VANCE “In keeping with the reverence and respect that is given to all members of our military that are buried there, we invited President Trump,” he said. “We are the ones that asked for the video and the pictures to be taken at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.” Hoover also added that Trump has “been there for us from the very beginning,” and criticized Harris for “playing politics” over the incident. “You should be ashamed and embarrassed [about] your lack of empathy and decency as a human being,” the father added. “You are only in this for the power and prestige. You don’t care for our military or the citizens of this country. “You should hang your head in shame at your actions or lack thereof.” Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment.

RFK Jr. sues North Carolina to remove name from ballot before election

RFK Jr. sues North Carolina to remove name from ballot before election

A week after Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. suspended his third-party presidential campaign and endorsed former President Trump, he filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina State Board of Elections to get his name removed from the state’s ballot before November.  When he suspended his campaign, Kennedy said he planned to keep his name on the ballot in safe Democratic and Republican states but didn’t want to be a spoiler in the battleground states.  Recent polls have shown a close race between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in North Carolina.  Kennedy’s lawsuit comes not long after he had been trying to get on the North Carolina ballot over the summer by seeking signatures for his We the People party.  RFK JR. SAYS TRUMP HAS ‘CHANGED AS A PERSON’ AND ‘FOCUSED ON HIS LEGACY’ On Thursday, in a 3-2 vote, the elections board denied Kennedy’s request to have him removed there, arguing that nearly 2 million ballots have already been printed in 67 of 100 counties, and it would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to redo them with the first deadline for absentee ballots on Sept. 6.  ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR. LAMBASTS ‘DNC-ALIGNED MAINSTREAM MEDIA,’ ACCUSES THEM OF ENGINEERING HARRIS’ RISE “When we talk about printing a ballot, we are not talking about … pressing ‘copy’ on a Xerox machine. This is a much more complex and layered process,” Board Executive Director Karen Brinson Bell said. “With the November election looming and ballot deadlines fast-approaching, Kennedy has no choice but to turn to this Court for immediate relief,” his lawsuit said. It added that the election board’s decision violated his speech and state election law, The Charlotte Observer reported.  Kennedy dropped out of the race and claimed he could still become president if neither Trump nor Harris reached 270 electoral votes. On Aug. 23, he joined Trump onstage at their first rally together. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “Don’t you want a president who’s going to protect America’s freedoms and who is going to protect us against totalitarianism?” Kennedy said at a rally in Glendale, Arizona.  “Don’t you want a safe environment for your children? Don’t you want to know that the food that you’re feeding them is not filled with chemicals that are going to give them cancer and chronic disease? And don’t you want a president that’s going to make America healthy again?”  Kennedy’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.  The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Harris slams Trump over Arlington National Cemetery altercation, prompting fiery response from JD Vance

Harris slams Trump over Arlington National Cemetery altercation, prompting fiery response from JD Vance

Vice President Kamala Harris slammed former President Trump after an incident involving his staff and a cemetery official this week, prompting a critical response from Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance. On Thursday, an Army spokesperson said an Arlington National Cemetery official was “abruptly pushed aside” while interacting with Trump’s staff during a wreath-laying ceremony event Monday. The ceremony honored service members killed by ISIS-K terrorists Aug. 26, 2021, during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The U.S. Army said in a statement the employee was making sure that Trump’s team was “made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds.” Trump claimed he took photographs with families of service members who had requested them.  “[President] Joe Biden killed those young people because he was incompetent,” Trump said during a speech in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Friday. “And then they tell me that I used their graves for public relations services, and I didn’t.” TRUMP IMPERSONATES ELON MUSK TALKING ABOUT ROCKETS: ‘I’M DOING A NEW STAINLESS STEEL HUB’ In a statement posted on Facebook Saturday afternoon, Harris accused Trump’s team of disrespecting service members.  “As Vice President, I have had the privilege of visiting Arlington National Cemetery several times,” the statement from the Democratic presidential nominee said. “It is a solemn place; a place where we come together to honor American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of this nation. It is not a place for politics. “And yet, as was reported this week, Donald Trump’s team chose to film a video there, resulting in an altercation with cemetery staff,” Harris added. “Let me be clear: the former president disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt.” Harris claimed the incident was “nothing new” from Trump and accused the former president of “call[ing] our fallen service members ‘suckers’ and ‘losers’ and disparage[ing] Medal of Honor recipients.” “This is a man who is unable to comprehend anything other than service to himself,” Harris added, before promising to “never politicize” service members. TRUMP-MUSK INTERVIEW: 5 BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION TO THE US BORDER CRISIS  The statement was met with swift backlash from Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, who suggested Harris “get off social media.” “President Trump was there at the invitation of families whose loved ones died because of your incompetence,” Vance wrote on X. “Why don’t you get off social media and go launch an investigation into their unnecessary deaths?” Karoline Leavitt, who served as an assistant press secretary during the Trump administration, also criticized Harris on social media. “Kamala Harris bragged about being the last person in the room with Joe Biden when they decided on their terrible Afghanistan withdrawal plan,” Leavitt wrote. “Kamala’s stupidity led to one of the most embarrassing events in American history and 13 brave US soldiers being killed. “She has never said their names. She has never reached out to their families,” Leavitt added. “For this alone, Kamala does not deserve to be elected. Kamala has already proven that she would be a dangerously incompetent Commander in Chief.” Fox News Digital reached out to the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment. UNRWA head accuses Israel of buying Google ads to block donations to agency

UNRWA head accuses Israel of buying Google ads to block donations to agency

Commissioner-general says Israeli government has undertaken a defamation campaign against the UN agency. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has accused the Israeli government of “buying ads on Google to block users from giving donations” to the agency. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a post on X that Israel’s attempts to defame the agency both harm its reputation and put the lives of its staff at risk. “These deliberate efforts to spread misinformation should stop + be investigated,” Lazzarini wrote on Saturday, calling for more regulations for companies, including social media platforms, to combat disinformation and hate speech. The spread of misinformation & disinformation continues to be used as a weapon in the war in #Gaza. As part of its campaign to undermine & discredit @UNRWA, the Government of Israel has been buying ads on @Google to block users from giving donations to the Agency + undertake a… — Philippe Lazzarini (@UNLazzarini) August 31, 2024 “The spread of misinformation & disinformation continues to be used as a weapon in the war in Gaza,” he wrote. Israel has campaigned for years against UNRWA, the main organisation delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territory and providing services for Palestinian refugees in other countries since 1949, claiming it has connections with “terrorists” and lobbying for its closure. Last month, the UN denounced an Israeli government spokesperson after he described Lazzarini as a “terrorist sympathiser”. David Mencer had taken aim at Lazzarini in a videotaped speech, claiming the agency had been deeply infiltrated by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The UN said the comments were “reprehensible” and warned that they jeopardise Lazzarini’s safety. Earlier this year, Israel alleged that some of the agency’s staff participated in the Hamas-led October 7 attacks on Israel, leading more than a dozen international donors to suspend support. A UN-authorised independent review found that Israel had not provided credible evidence for its accusations and most donors have since reinstated funding. Israeli attacks in Gaza have frequently targeted UNRWA facilities, killing 212 of its staff members and hitting at least 70 percent of its schools, according to the organisation. At least 40,691 people have been killed and 94,060 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza, according to according to the Gaza Health Ministry. At least 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on Israel, according to an Al Jazeera tally based on official Israeli statistics. Adblock test (Why?)

First children in Gaza given polio vaccines a day before planned UN rollout

First children in Gaza given polio vaccines a day before planned UN rollout

WHO says that the official larger vaccine rollout, which aims to reach 640,000 children, will begin on Sunday. Several children in Gaza have been given polio vaccines a day before a large-scale campaign to inoculate children against the virus and a planned pause in fighting in the besieged territory, Gaza’s Health Ministry said. Reporters from The Associated Press news agency saw roughly 10 infants receiving doses of vaccine in the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on Saturday afternoon. “I was terrified and waiting for the vaccination to arrive and for everyone to receive it,” said Amal Shaheen, whose daughter received a dose. The WHO has confirmed that the official larger rollout of the vaccine will begin on Sunday. The three-day vaccination campaign aims to reach some 640,000 Palestinian children and comes after the first polio case in 25 years in Gaza was discovered this month. Reporting from Deir-el Balah, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud said the rollout was set to begin in central Gaza on Sunday. “The other days will be in Khan Younis and the last rollout will be in the northern part of the Strip,” Mahmoud added. A Palestinian child is vaccinated against polio, amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip [Mohammed Salem/Reuters] Israel has agreed to pause its military offensive in Gaza to allow health workers to administer the vaccines, UN officials have said. Rik Peeperkorn, WHO representative in the Palestinian territory, said on Thursday that the three pauses will take place from 6am to 3pm (03:00 to 12:00 GMT) and last for three days each in different areas of Gaza, beginning on Sunday. The pauses are unrelated to the continuing ceasefire negotiations. “These are very momentary pauses from morning till mid-afternoon in each area. Considering the travel logistics for people in Gaza, this is not going to be easy for them to come and go safely,” Mukesh Kapila, a former WHO official, told Al Jazeera. He added that Palestinian parents will be concerned for the safety of their children as Israeli attacks on health facilities have continued. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has deepened during Israel’s assault on the territory that began after a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, which killed at least 1,139 people. Israel’s subsequent offensive has killed at least 40,691 people in Gaza. On Saturday, the Palestinian Civil Defence agency in Gaza said at least three people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli attack in the vicinity of the al-Ahli Arab Hospital (Baptist Hospital). Al Jazeera’s Mahmoud said that in a previous attack at the hospital, hundreds of people were killed. “This is not the first time we’ve seen health facilities being directly and deliberately targeted by the Israeli military. This particular hospital was attacked in the initial weeks of this war, and hundreds of people were killed as they were in the courtyard of the hospital,” he said. The United States, Qatar and Egypt have spent months trying to mediate a ceasefire in Gaza that would also see the remaining captives released. But the talks have repeatedly bogged down as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised “total victory” over Hamas and the Palestinian group has demanded a lasting ceasefire and a full Israeli withdrawal from the territory. FIFA delays again review of Palestinian call to suspend Israel

FIFA delays again review of Palestinian call to suspend Israel

The FIFA Council has delayed making a decision on a Palestinian bid to suspend Israel from international football until October. World football’s governing body FIFA has again delayed its review on a Palestinian bid to have Israel suspended from the international arena over its war on Gaza. FIFA said late on Friday it would now consider the Palestine Football Association’s (PFA) proposals against the Israel Football Association (IFA) in October. The PFA had submitted a proposal to suspend Israel in May, with FIFA ordering an urgent legal evaluation and promising to address it at an extraordinary meeting of its council in July. FIFA said last month the legal assessment would now be shared with its council by August 31. The Zurich-based body said it had now moved the assessment back to October. “FIFA has received the independent legal assessment of the Palestine Football Association’s proposals against Israel,” FIFA said. “This assessment will be sent to the FIFA Council to review in order that the subject can be discussed at its next meeting which will take place in October.” FIFA declined to give further details of the assessment, or when in October the meeting would take place. The Palestinian proposal accuses the IFA of complicity in violations of international law by the Israeli government, discrimination against Arab players, and inclusion in its league of clubs located in Palestinian territory. The IFA has rejected the allegations. The PFA has said at least 92 Palestinian players have been killed in the war, football infrastructure has been destroyed, its leagues suspended and its national team required to play World Cup qualifiers abroad. In its proposal, the PFA wanted FIFA to adopt “appropriate sanctions” against Israeli teams, including the national side and clubs At least 40,691 people have been killed and 94,060 wounded in since Israel’s war on Gaza began on October 7. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the attacks Palestinian group Hamas led on October 7. Adblock test (Why?)

Texas state representative flips to GOP, says Democrats have plunged into ‘progressive abyss’

Texas state representative flips to GOP, says Democrats have plunged into ‘progressive abyss’

A Democratic state politician in Texas is flipping to the Republican Party for her final four months in office. State Rep. Shawn Thierry published a statement to social media on Friday decrying the Democratic Party’s march into the “progressive abyss” after she lost her primary for supporting a GOP-led bill protecting minors from gender transition procedures. “The Democratic Party has veered so far left, so deep into the progressive abyss, that it now champions policies that I cannot, in good conscience, support — policies like promoting sex changes for children during a vulnerable stage of their lives, and dismantling Title IX protections for women in sports,” Thierry wrote. TEXAS RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY BORDER SECURITY UNDER BIDEN-HARRIS ADMIN EXPRESS FEAR OF FUTURE ATTACK Thierry said because of her break with the values of her party, she will serve her final few months in office as a member of the GOP. “I now stand with the party of Lincoln, the party that fought to preserve our Union and fought to end the atrocities of slavery,” she added. Thierry lost to primary challenger Lauren Ashley Simmons during a runoff election in May.  TEXAS ANNOUNCES OVER 1M INELIGIBLE VOTERS REMOVED FROM VOTING ROLLS SINCE LAST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION A major factor in her failure within the Democratic Party is believed to have been her support for a 2023 Republican bill that barred gender transition for minors. “Mothers around our country from all backgrounds, races, and communities understand that it’s our sacred duty to preserve the innocence of our children, protect them from being sexualized, and sterilized,” Thierry wrote. “To respect universal truths, and to uphold the rights of biological women as defined by science, nature, and common sense.”  “I will not be alone; I will be with millions of courageous women and men of good conscience, who are willing to place people over political ideology,” she concluded.
