‘Weak-on-crime liberal’: Trump campaign hits back after Harris blames him for ‘violent crime wave’

‘Weak-on-crime liberal’: Trump campaign hits back after Harris blames him for ‘violent crime wave’

The Trump campaign blasted Vice President Kamala Harris as a “liar” and “desperate” after her campaign released a TV ad claiming former President Trump’s policies brought in a “violent crime wave,” telling Fox News Digital Harris is an “open border, weak-on-crime liberal.”  The Harris campaign, just a day after the vice president accepted the Democratic presidential nomination in Chicago, released a television ad focused on crime. The ad claims on Harris’ watch, “violent crime went down.”  “Her record as district attorney and attorney general — locking up child abusers, online predators and violent offenders and shutting down international drug cartels,” the ad says. “Under Donald Trump? A violent crime wave. And Trump ordered MAGA extremists to kill the bipartisan border security deal. “Trump just talks tough. Kamala Harris is tough.” NEW HARRIS BORDER SECURITY ADS MARK 180 FROM YEARS OF LIBERAL IMMIGRATION ADVOCACY Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt called Harris “a liar.”  “The truth is Kamala and Biden reversed every single one of President Trump’s effective immigration policies immediately upon taking office and opened the border to criminals, terrorists and drug cartels,” Leavitt told Fox News Digital. “If Ms. Border Czar Harris really wanted to secure the border, why doesn’t she go back to Washington and do it today? “She won’t, because she’s an open border, weak-on-crime liberal.” Meanwhile, the Trump campaign took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote that violent crime “isn’t down, it’s up almost 25% across 66 major U.S. cities while Kamala has presided over three of the four most murderous years in the last 25 years.” DNC ATTENDEES WEIGH IN: ARE KAMALA HARRIS’ AND JOE BIDEN’S RECORDS ONE AND THE SAME? “Under Kamala, illegals she let into the country are brutally raping and murdering our citizens,” the campaign continued, adding that, as district attorney, Harris “was known for being soft on crime, while San Francisco had the highest murder rate in a decade.” The campaign said Harris became “the model” for “Soros-backed prosecutors across the country.”  “Drug cartels haven’t been ‘shut down,’ they’ve ravaged our communities with deadly drugs flowing across the border in unprecedented numbers,” the campaign continued. “The Sinaloa Cartel has made record profit under Kamala.”  As for the bipartisan border bill, the Trump campaign said it would have “put millions of illegals on the fast track to citizenship.” Trump visited the border in Arizona Thursday.  Trump’s campaign has referenced Americans like Jocelyn Nungaray, Laken Riley and Rachel Morin, who were all allegedly killed by illegal immigrants. Two Venezuelan nationals — 21-year-old Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and 26-year-old Franklin Jose Peña Ramos — have been charged with capital murder in the death of 12-year-old Nungaray. The two men crossed illegally into the U.S. earlier this year and are accused of strangling the pre-teen to death in June. Jose Ibarra, a 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal immigrant, was charged with 22-year-old Riley’s murder. Ibarra entered the U.S. through El Paso, Texas, in 2022 and was freed on border parole. He initially lived in New York City, where he was arrested for allegedly endangering a child prior to his move to Athens, Georgia. Ibarra has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call and concealing the death of another in connection to Riley’s murder. The El Salvadoran national allegedly responsible for Morin’s death, 23-year-old Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, was also in the country illegally, and, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was caught by Border Patrol three times within a matter of days in January 2023 and February 2023 and sent back to Mexico under Title 42 each time.  He then successfully entered the U.S. as a gotaway, meaning he entered without being inspected, admitted or paroled by a U.S. immigration officer, in February 2023 near El Paso, Texas. During his visit to Arizona Thursday, Trump invited Angel Moms to share stories about victims of illegal migrant crime.  “We’ve done a lot of trips to the border over the years and told a lot of stories about border victims, including the stories of the amazing Angel Moms,” Trump said. “Time doesn’t heal all wounds, but we have never seen anything in terms of the volume and viciousness like what we are seeing now in our country. “It is an onslaught of violence.”  A Trump campaign official told Fox News Digital the campaign’s strategy will be to “continue to hammer home immigration and Kamala’s dereliction of duty at the border.”

Chicago schools’ sex ed curriculum teaches elementary school kids about gender identity, puberty blockers

Chicago schools’ sex ed curriculum teaches elementary school kids about gender identity, puberty blockers

Chicago Public Schools’ sexual education curriculum begins as soon as kindergarten, teaching kids first about human anatomy, followed by first-grade lessons on how to define “gender identity” and an introduction to puberty blockers by fifth grade. The Chicago public school system’s “Personal Health and Safety Education & Sexual Health Education Scope and Sequence” was uncovered this week by parental rights nonprofit Parents Defending Education. The group found that in a district where elementary students are struggling with academic proficiency, faculty and administrators found a link between the “health and safety” programming and the students’ learning time. “You can start to see the process where they just slowly inch the kids and nudge the kids in the direction of hardcore queer theory,” said Rhyen Staley, the Parents Defending Education researcher who uncovered the sexual education curriculum. “That’s why, by the time you get to fifth grade, you see that they are starting to teach the kids about transgenderism and puberty blockers.” Only 31% of elementary students in the Chicago public school system are considered proficient in reading, which is two percentage points below the latest national average for fourth grade students recorded by the National Center for Education Statistics in 2022. Meanwhile, just 19% of elementary Chicago Public Schools students are proficient in math, which is 17 percentage points below the national average recorded for fourth graders in 2022. DOZENS OF ILLINOIS SCHOOLS HAVE 0 STUDENTS PROFICIENT IN MATH, READING “Only one in six third graders in Chicago can read at grade level. How about the individuals in charge at CPS focus on carrying out the basic requirements of their jobs instead of using their taxpayer-funded positions to push a radical activist agenda on children as young as 4 years old?” Michele Exner, a senior adviser for Parents Defending Education, told Fox News Digital. “This shouldn’t be hard. Parents deserve to know their children are learning academics in school, not having their class time wasted with useless and divisive content.”  After learning how to identify the various female and male body parts in kindergarten, Chicago Public School students in first grade learn how to “define gender, gender identity and gender role stereotypes” and can “name at least two things they’ve been taught about gender role stereotypes, and how those things may limit people of all genders.” In second grade, students are taught “the concept of gender stereotypes” and how to “advocate for change.” By grade four, the district curriculum utilizes a “Gender Snowperson” to help students “explore the concepts of gender identity, sexual orientation, sex assigned at birth, and gender expression.” CHICAGO SCHOOLS TRAINING SAYS SEX ‘NOT ROOTED IN BIOLOGY,’ TELLS TEACHERS TO HIDE GENDER PRONOUNS FROM PARENTS  A “Gender Unicorn” is then utilized by fifth grade instructors to teach their students about “sexual orientation,” among other concepts like “gender role stereotypes and gender expression.” By the end of the lesson, fifth graders are expected to be able to define terms like “cisgender,” “non-binary” and “transgender.” The fifth-grade curriculum also includes a lesson on “changes during puberty,” which includes instruction about “puberty blocker medications that transgender young people may use.” Citing a lack of teacher comfort with instructing students on the district’s sexual education curriculum, Chicago Public Schools has reportedly begun inviting unlicensed “health educators” to do the work, according to Chalkboard News. Before Parents Defending Education uncovered Chicago Public Schools’ sexual education lessons, the district repeatedly denied requests for such materials. Among those requests was a federal Freedom of Information Act request filed by conservative digital news outlet The Daily Caller. Fox News Digital reached out to the Chicago Public Schools system for comment but did not receive a response.

Trump thanks RFK Jr for endorsement after third-party candidate suspends his campaign: ‘That’s big’

Trump thanks RFK Jr for endorsement after third-party candidate suspends his campaign: ‘That’s big’

Former President Trump on Friday, while speaking at a restaurant in Las Vegas, thanked Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. for his endorsement minutes after the third-party candidate said he was suspending his campaign because he didn’t want to “be a spoiler.”  “We just had a very nice endorsement from RFK Jr, Bobby,” Trump said at Il Toro E La Capra eatery just off the Vegas Strip, where he addressed restaurant workers and other supporters. The Republican presidential nominee said that he would be speaking more about RFK Jr.’s endorsement at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday evening, the same venue where Vice President Harris held a large rally earlier this month, and where Trump teased a “surprise guest.”  He continued, “But I just want to thank everybody, and I want to thank Bobby. That was very nice. That was really, that’s big. He’s a great guy, respected by everybody.”  ROBERT F KENNEDY JR. SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN, BACKS TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT RFK Jr. endorsed Trump just minutes before the former president began speaking in Las Vegas, saying during a scheduled press conference in Glendale that he planned to stay off the ballot in red and blue states, so people could vote for him there, but remove his name from battleground states. “Three causes drove me to enter this race in the first place. And these are the principal causes that persuaded me to leave the Democratic Party and run as an independent and now to throw my support at President Trump,” RFK Jr. said. “The causes were free speech, war in Ukraine and the war on our children.”  RFK Jr. said that the Democratic National Committee “waged continued legal war” on both Trump and himself, while also accusing the DNC of running a “sham primary” that prevented a serious primary challenge to President Biden before he secured the Democratic nomination, then dropped out in July, endorsing Harris. WILL ROBERT F KENNEDY’S LIKELY EXIT FROM 2024 RACE BOOT TRUMP OVER HARRIS? Harris’ campaign reached out to RFK Jr. supporters in a statement to Fox News on Friday.  “For any American out there who is tired of Donald Trump and looking for a new way forward, ours is a campaign for you. In order to deliver for working people and those who feel left behind, we need a leader who will fight for you, not just for themselves, and bring us together, not tear us apart. Vice President Harris wants to earn your support. Even if we do not agree on every issue, Kamala Harris knows there is more that unites us than divides us: respect for our rights, public safety, protecting our freedoms, and opportunity for all.” DNC senior advisor Mary Beth Cahill said “good riddance.”  CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “The more voters learned about RFK Jr. the less they liked him. Donald Trump isn’t earning an endorsement that’s going to help build support, he’s inheriting the baggage of a failed fringe candidate. Good riddance,” she said.

Vulnerable Ohio Dem changes tune on working ‘for Biden’ amid ‘toss-up’ re-election race

Vulnerable Ohio Dem changes tune on working ‘for Biden’ amid ‘toss-up’ re-election race

Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur appears to be changing her tune when it comes to working with President Biden during her close race for re-election. Kaptur, one of the vulnerable Democrats who did not attend the Democratic National Convention (DNC), previously said she would be honored to work with Biden but now appears to be distancing herself from his presidency.  The contrast was highlighted by the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a GOP SuperPAC that recently launched a website highlighting Kaptur’s own words from 2020 to now. “It will be my honor to not just vote for Joe Biden, but to work for him and Sen. Kamala Harris,” Kaptur said in October 2020, a video on CLF’s new site shows. ‘MUST APOLOGIZE’: VULNERABLE HOUSE DEM FACES RENEWED BACKLASH OVER COMPARISON INVOLVING 9/11 TERRORIST As she seeks re-election in Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, rated by the Cook Political Report as a “toss-up,” Kaptur recently shifted her rhetoric. BATTLEGROUND DEMOCRATS LEAVE BIDEN HIGH AND DRY AFTER ‘DISTASTROUS’ DEBATE PERFORMANCE “I don’t work for Donald Trump or Joe Biden,” Kaptur said in August 2024, just weeks after Biden withdrew from the presidential race. CLF is also running a five-figure ad, which was streamed during the DNC, highlighting the contrast. “Marcy Kaptur knows the Biden-Harris administration has hurt Ohioans, which is why she’s is trying to have them forget,” CLF spokeswoman Courtney Parella told Fox News Digital in a statement. “But voters know through Kaptur’s own words, she works for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, not Ohioans — period.” Fox News Digital reached out to Kaptur’s campaign for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

Alaska Republican drops out of multi-way House race, dealing surprise blow to Democrats nationally

Alaska Republican drops out of multi-way House race, dealing surprise blow to Democrats nationally

In what may be a surprise blow to Democratic chances of holding a key red-state seat in the U.S. House, Alaska Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom announced Friday she is suspending her campaign for Congress. Dahlstrom was in what was essentially a three-way race with incumbent Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola and Republican Nick Begich III – who comes from a prominent political family in the Last Frontier. While Dahlstrom did not immediately endorse Begich, she suggested in comments announcing her withdrawal that her reason for running was to see Peltola defeated. “I entered this race because Alaskans deserve better representation than what we have received from Mary Peltola in Washington,” Dahlstrom said in a statement. “At this time, the best thing I can do to see that goal realized is to withdraw my name from the general election ballot and end my campaign,” she said. RANKED CHOICE VOTING RANKLES ELECTION SEASON Due to the state enacting ranked choice voting by popular vote in 2020, elections in Alaska now differ from most other states in that the candidate to gain the majority of the votes is not necessarily declared the winner. That aspect was front-and-center in the first general election race Peltola won – to succeed five-decade Republican Rep. Don Young, who died in office in 2022 at 88. Peltola defeated both Begich and former Gov. Sarah Palin, who had both run as Republicans.  Though the two GOP candidates garnered more votes than Peltola, she was named the winner after the hierarchical rounds of ranked choice vote tallying concluded. Under the system, the lowest vote-getter is eliminated and that candidate’s voters’ “second-choice” votes get tallied instead, and so on. IN THE ONLY STATE BORDERING RUSSIA, ALASKA GOVERNOR SAYS DEFENSES ARE STRONG Under the more traditional electoral system, Alaska is a reliably red state, which the Cook Political Report currently placed at R+9. Republicans currently control the U.S. House by 220-211, with four vacancies. A less contested race in Alaska could give Republicans more breathing room. Republicans, including Kelly Tshibaka, who lost to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, in a ranked-choice battle, have condemned the system as “baiting the water for [political] negativity.” However, other proponents have said it helps suppress partisanship and aids more moderate candidates. Begich – whose uncle Mark was a Democratic senator and grandfather, Nick Sr., was Young’s Democratic predecessor before disappearing in a 1972 plane crash — said Dahlstrom ran a “strong campaign” and thanked her for her public service. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “Today we move forward unified in the effort to replace Mary Peltola, who has proven by her alignment with the left that she is not the moderate she claimed to be. I look forward to continuing to travel Alaska to earn your support and take Alaska’s incredible story to our nation’s capital,” Begich said.  “North, to the Future,” he added. Fox News Digital reached out to Peltola and her campaign for comment.

Judiciary Republicans tie Biden-Harris ‘open borders’ policies to brutal murder allegedly by illegal immigrant

Judiciary Republicans tie Biden-Harris ‘open borders’ policies to brutal murder allegedly by illegal immigrant

FIRST ON FOX: Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee are tying a brutal murder, allegedly committed by a Peruvian illegal immigrant, to the policies of the Biden-Harris administration – as border security remains a top issue ahead of the 2024 election “This interim staff report focuses on the case of just one criminal illegal alien, Roberto Emilio Vasquez-Santamaria, and highlights how the open-borders policies of the Biden-Harris Administration ensured his release into the United States,” the report, a copy of which was obtained by Fox News Digital, said. Vasquez-Santamaria was charged with murder after being arrested in connection with the homicide that took place last September. The Maverick County Sheriff’s office confirmed that a 40-year-old male had been killed after a struggle and found dead with blunt force injuries to the head at a house in Eagle Pass, Texas. SCATHING REPORT REVEALS BIDEN-HARRIS ADMIN HAS RELEASED DOZENS OF MIGRANTS ON TERROR WATCHLIST INTO US Fox News Digital reported at the time that he had crossed illegally into Eagle Pass in May 2023 and had been released with a notice to appear in court for removal proceedings. Sources stressed to Fox that Border Patrol itself does not determine the release policy of illegal immigrants into the interior, and that agents are carrying out policies set by the Biden administration. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that the man had been enrolled into Alternatives to Detention on May 8 with instructions to report to ICE’s office in Miami by July 3. He reported to the field office on May 15, at which point he was taken out of the ATD program. ICE says the program “allows ICE to exercise increased supervision over a subset of those on ICE’s docket, using several different monitoring technologies” and helps increase court-appearance rates. “As with any noncitizen in the United States without lawful status, ICE officers make enforcement decisions on a case-by-case basis to focus on the greatest threats to homeland security in a professional and responsible manner informed by their experience as law enforcement officers,” a spokesperson said. Republicans on the committee, led by Chairman Jim Jordan, have been seeking alien files (A files) of a number of alleged criminal illegal immigrants and say they have so far received 30, including that of the Peruvian national. The file confirmed that Vasquez-Santamaria had been released and enrolled in ATD due to an alleged lack of detention space. He had been told to check in on July 3, 2023. “According to this immigration record, Vasquez-Santamaria was also given a Notice to Appear in immigration court, with his initial appearance scheduled for June 4, 2025, in Orlando, Florida,” the Judiciary Committee report says. “Pursuant to his order of release, the alien agreed to ‘not violate any local, State, or Federal laws or ordinances,’ ‘not associate with known gang members, criminal associates, or be associated with any such activity,’ and ‘not commit any crimes.’ Just months later, Vasquez-Santamaria blatantly violated the conditions of his release.” TOP HOUSE COMMITTEE DEMANDS MAYORKAS FORK OVER DOCS AFTER BIDEN ADMIN FREEZES MIGRANT FLIGHT PROGRAM The report says the information does not include details of whether he had ever checked in with ICE, compiled with conditions or applied for any immigration benefit. “The disastrous immigration policies of the Biden-Harris Administration have had real world consequences for American citizens. The effects of those policies will be felt for years to come, with criminal aliens in American neighborhoods harming families and hurting public safety across the country,” the report says.  “The family of Vasquez-Santamaria’s victim will never be the same because the Biden-Harris Administration allowed Vasquez-Santamaria to enter the country. Tragically, the victim’s family is not alone,” it says. The report comes amid an ongoing battle between Republicans and Democrats over the crisis at the southern border. The Biden administration has accused Republicans of failing to back a bipartisan Senate deal that would have provided additional funding and mechanisms to limit entries.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE IMMIGRATION COVERAGE Administration officials have said they need reforms and additional funding to fix a “broken system.” Meanwhile, they have pointed to a sharp drop in encounters of more than 50% at the border since President Biden signed an order limiting asylum in June. But Republicans have said the drop is too little, too late and that it comes on the back of a historic border crisis that they blame on “open border” policies by the administration. As for fixes, the Judiciary Committee report called for the administration and Senate Democrats to pass a sweeping border bill passed by House Republicans last year. “In the meantime, the Committee and Subcommittee will continue to conduct vigorous oversight to inform legislative reforms to address President Biden and Vice President Harris’s dangerous immigration policies,” the report says.
