Randall Terry on destroying the Democratic Party: ‘I’m running to be margin of defeat … in the swing states’

Randall Terry is a lifelong pro-life activist who founded the Operation Rescue group, which he headed until 1991. He and the group were known for their controversial tactics targeting abortion clinics, blocking entrances and staging raucous protests as Terry and associates racked up dozens of arrests and enormous sums in civil judgments along the way. In 2024, Terry won the Constitution Party nomination for president and is running to make the sanctity of human life the focal point of his campaign, with an advertising strategy explicitly designed to boost the Trump campaign and hurt the Democrats. TRUMP, HARRIS IN DEAD HEAT IN POLL OF 7 CRITICAL BATTLEGROUND STATES “My mission is still the same, and that is to make it a criminal act to kill a human being from conception until birth. For that to happen, you have to be in the political realm. You have to be a lawmaker,” he said. “I am not going to win the presidency. I’m not running to win. I’m running to be the margin of defeat … in the swing states. Because I’m a federal candidate, I can run television ads 60 days from the election, and the TV stations are required by law to take them, so I can target Catholic and African-American voters in Wisconsin, in Michigan, in Pennsylvania.” He dismisses the argument that he is likely to serve as a spoiler, taking disproportionately more votes from Trump in the election. “My candidacy is based around the three Ds: defend children, defeat the Democrat nominee, destroy the Democrat[ic] Party. That’s the mission. And for every one voter that leaves voting for Trump, for me, there’s going to be 20 that leave the Democrats because of the way our ads are targeted, because of our messaging. So, Tom DeLay, the former House majority leader, he has thrown in with us. He’s raising money for us. And he has said every Republican in America should be giving you money. You’re the secret weapon, because we can torpedo the Democrats with this message, which ultimately is going to end up helping Trump.” WHY DO SWING STATES HOLD KEY TO WHITE HOUSE? Terry’s economic policies focus on reducing regulation and taxation and boosting energy production and independence. “The Constitution Party’s economic policy is simple: less regulation, lower taxes,” he said. “Stop putting a gun to people’s head to pay for your favorite giveaway. America had averaged a 1% tax on the entire populace up until 1913, with the exception of the Civil War when they were retiring war debt. When we had incredibly low taxes, low government regulations, we became the economic wonder of the world,” he said. “And now, with so much government regulation and so much taxes, we are driving business to foreign shores, or we’re bankrupting it. You want to have a great and free and prosperous country? Drill, baby, drill, open up the pipeline. Bring fuel here. … Make us energy independent. Become an exporter of oil and tell Saudi Arabia and Venezuela bye-bye.” Terry said he is concerned that the Ukraine conflict is serving as a distraction from the machinations of China, which he views as a far greater threat. “I think that Putin’s obsession with the ancestral territorial parts of Russia is what is driving him. And the question is, how much American treasure, how much American blood … are we prepared to be shed in these conflicts? And that, to me, is where we have real and honorable disagreements. We’re sitting by while China is ready to become literally the dominant force in the world. China is poising themselves to be the dominant force militarily and economically. … We’re sitting by while China is preparing to take over Taiwan and to become the military and economic powerhouse of the world, but we’re obsessing over Russia and Ukraine. I smell a rat.” Terry believes that the emerging Moscow-Beijing axis will enable the export of tyranny and continues to pose a significant threat to the West. He also argues that failed American policies have driven the two powerhouses together. “Historically, the Russian communists and the Chinese communists have not gotten along,” he said. “We are driving Russia into the arms of China. We have far more in common with the Russians historically with our connection to Christianity, Russian Orthodoxy,” he said, “but they are discussing, now openly, breaking the stronghold of the American dollar over oil. Once oil is no longer forced by law, by international treaties to be traded in dollars, all bets are off.” “We don’t even know what’s going to happen at that point. And if they come up with some kind of a new triumvirate or any coalition between Russia, which has massive oil fields that are untapped, China, which is a massive economic powerhouse, and then maybe Iran or some other heavy oil producing [country] … they’re going to be able to tell the West, ‘Go to hell, we’ll do whatever we want.’ And they will be exporting their political tyranny, and they will be not just in control of Hollywood but in control of small governments.”

Schumer condemns antisemitism, blames Trump while anti-Israel agitators burn US flag outside DNC

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., condemned antisemitism during his speech on the second night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), while anti-Israel agitators raged outside the arena, leading to several arrests.  Even so, Schumer’s speech chiefly took aim at former President Trump as a source of anti-Jewish rhetoric in American politics. “As the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in American history, I want my grandkids — and all grandkids — to never face discrimination because of who they are,” Schumer said. While the senator was delivering his speech, pro-Hamas rioters were burning the American flag outside the United Center in Chicago. PRO-LIFE GROUPS ANSWER PLANNED PARENTHOOD ABORTION VAN WITH OUTREACH NEAR DNC However, Schumer took aim at former President Trump in his remarks, casting the GOP presidential nominee as a significant culprit in American politics for furthering antisemitism. “But Donald Trump, this is a guy who peddles antisemitic stereotypes. He even invited a white supremacist to Mar-a-Lago. But unfortunately, his prejudice goes in all directions: he fuels Islamophobia, and issued a Muslim ban as President. Tonight folks, I am wearing this blue square, to stand up against antisemitism, to stand up to all hate,” he said.  “Our children, our grandchildren — no matter their race or creed or gender or family — deserve better than Donald Trump’s American carnage.” ANTI-ISRAEL DEMONSTRATORS BURN AMERICAN FLAG OUTSIDE CHICAGO CONSULATE ON 2ND NIGHT OF DNC Meanwhile, the backdrop of his remarks came as just under two miles from the convention center, anti-Israel demonstrators burned an American flag and chanted “Free Palestine” outside a building in Chicago that houses the Israeli consulate. Protesters were against U.S. support for Israel and other progressive causes.   Officers handcuffed at least four people from the protest and led them away after protesters charged a line of police officers, who pushed the demonstrators back.  HAMAS REFUSES TO ATTEND GAZA CEASE-FIRE TALKS AS BIDEN SAYS IT’S ‘STILL POSSIBLE’ TO REACH DEAL Israel supporters, including some relatives of people kidnapped by Hamas, gathered earlier in the day at a pro-Israel art installation not far from the consulate to call on U.S. leaders to continue backing Israel and pushing for the release of hostages.  More protests are planned throughout the week, but attendance at the main rally on Monday was far below estimates of organizers who had predicted more than 20,000 would show up. Michelle Obama’s 3rd consecutive DNC speech slamming Trump rips his ‘racist lies,’ ‘narrow view of the world’

Michelle Obama’s 3rd consecutive DNC speech slamming Trump rips his ‘racist lies,’ ‘narrow view of the world’

CHICAGO – Former first lady Michelle Obama returned to familiar ground during her Tuesday speech to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, delivering her third DNC speech in a row squarely aimed at denouncing former President Trump. In Tuesday night’s address, Obama took swipes at Trump’s inheritance of “generational wealth” and suggested that race was the reason he opposed her husband’s presidency. “For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us,” the former first lady said about Trump’s view of her husband’s political career. “See, his limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who happened to be Black.” “Wait,” Obama said, interrupting the applause from the crowd. “I want to know. I want to know — who’s going to tell him, who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those Black jobs?” Obama continued, “Look, it’s his same old con. The same old con. Doubling down on ugly misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people’s lives better.” DNC ATTENDEES REJECT POPULAR GOP ACCUSATION OF CONVENTION HYPOCRISY: ‘APPLES AND ORANGES’ Obama, taking a shot at Trump, said that Vice President Kamala Harris “understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward.” “We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth,” Obama said. “If we bankrupt the business, if we bankrupt a business or choke in a crisis, we don’t get a second, third or fourth chance. If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead. No. We don’t get to change the rules so we always win.” Obama continued, “If we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect there to be an escalator waiting to take us to the top. No. We put our heads down. We get to work. In America, we do something. And throughout her entire life, that’s what we’ve seen from Kamala Harris. The steel of her spine, the steadiness of her upbringing, the honesty of her example and, yes, the joy of her laughter and her light.” HILLARY CLINTON BLASTS TRUMP’S LEGAL WOES AMID ‘LOCK HIM UP’ CHANTS IN DNC SPEECH: ‘ONLY CARES ABOUT HIMSELF’ Slamming Trump at a Democratic convention is not new to the former first lady, who took shots at him in her speech at the 2020 convention saying that his White House operates in “chaos” and without “empathy,” while urging voters to cast their ballots for Joe Biden like their lives depended on it. Four years earlier, when Trump was squaring off against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Obama likewise took aim at the Republican challenger. “So don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great, that somehow we need to make it great again,” Obama said in her 2016 convention speech in Philadelphia.  “Because this, right now, is the greatest country on Earth.” Fox News Digital reached out to the Trump campaign for comment but did not immediately receive a response. “So, consider this to be your official ask,” Obama told delegates Tuesday in Chicago. “Michelle Obama is asking you — no, I’m telling ya’ll to do something. Because, you all, this election is going to be close in some states. Just a handful. Listen to me. A handful of votes in every precinct could decide the winner.” “So we need to vote in numbers that erase any doubt. We need to overwhelm any effort to suppress us. Our fate is in our hands. In 77 days, we have the power to turn our country away from the fear, division and smallness of the past. We have the power to marry our hope with our action. We have the power to pay forward the love, sweat and sacrifice of our mothers and fathers and all those who came before us. We did it before y’all, and we sure can do it again.”

Bus crash in Iran kills at least 28 Pakistani pilgrims travelling to Iraq

Bus crash in Iran kills at least 28 Pakistani pilgrims travelling to Iraq

Accident in central province of Yazd was blamed on a defective braking system, according to preliminary police probe. At least 28 pilgrims from Pakistan have been killed and 23 injured after their bus overturned in central Iran, according to Iranian state media. The accident took place late on Tuesday in the central province of Yazd. There were 53 passengers on board when the bus crashed en route to the holy city of Karbala in Iraq for the Arbaeen pilgrimage. A technical defect in the vehicle’s braking system caused the accident, according to a preliminary investigation by traffic police in Yazd, state media reported on Wednesday. Millions of Shia Muslims are currently taking part in the Arbaeen pilgrimage and they typically drive through Iran to reach their destination. “Unfortunately, 11 women and 17 men lost their lives in this accident. Seven of the injured people are in critical condition and six injured people have now left the hospital,” Ali Malekzadeh, the crisis management director general of Yazd, told state TV. Of the 23 people injured, six have been discharged while seven are in critical condition, he said. The Arbaeen commemoration marks the 40th day of mourning for Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and son of Imam Ali, who was killed in 680 AD on the plains of Karbala. Many pilgrims opt to walk 80km (50 miles) from the nearby city of Najaf, where Imam Ali is buried, to Karbala. Last year, some 22 million pilgrims attended the commemoration in Karbala. Iran has one of the world’s worst traffic safety records with some 17,000 deaths annually. The high death toll is blamed on a disregard for traffic laws, unsafe vehicles and inadequate emergency services in its vast rural areas. Adblock test (Why?)

Australia greenlights $19bn solar project to export power to Singapore

Australia greenlights bn solar project to export power to Singapore

Australia-Asia Power Link is slated to provide up to 15 percent of city-state’s energy needs once completed. Australia has granted environmental approval for a $19bn solar power project to export electricity to Singapore. The Australia-Asia Power Link is slated to generate 6GW of renewable energy, one-third of which would be transmitted to the Southeast Asia city-state via an undersea cable. SunCable, owned by billionaire software entrepreneur and climate activist Mike Cannon-Brookes, has said the project will supply up to 15 percent of Singapore’s energy needs once completed in the early 2030s. Australia’s Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek said on Wednesday that the 12,000-hectare (29,650-acre) solar farm in the remote Northern Territory would create 14,300 jobs and transform Australia into a “renewable energy superpower”. “This massive project is a generation-defining piece of infrastructure. It will be the largest solar precinct in the world – and heralds Australia as the world leader in green energy,” Plibersek said in a statement. Plibersek’s office said the approval came with “strict conditions” to protect the natural environment, including that the project must avoid the habitat of the greater bilby, a rabbit-like mammal considered vulnerable to extinction. SunCable Managing Director Cameron Garnsworthy said the government’s decision was a vote of confidence in the project and the company as “responsible stewards of the local Northern Territory environment”. “SunCable will now focus its efforts on the next stage of planning to advance the project towards a Final Investment Decision targeted by 2027,” Garnsworthy said in a statement. Despite winning environmental approval in Australia, the project still faces various other regulatory hurdles, including assessments by authorities in Singapore and Indonesia. The future of the project was thrown into doubt in January last year when SunCable went into voluntary administration amid a dispute between Cannon-Brookes and fellow billionaire backer Andrew Forrest over the direction of the company. Cannon-Brookes, the co-founder of US-Australian software company Atlassian, revived the bid in May after a consortium he led won control of the company’s assets. Energy is a politically fraught issue in Australia, where coal and gas remain the largest sources of electricity generation despite growing use of renewables. While the governing centre-left Labor Party and opposition centre-right Liberal Party have both committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050, the parties disagree on the steps for getting there. In June, the Liberal Party proposed constructing the country’s first nuclear power plants, which Labor Prime Minister Anthony Albanese dismissed as an uncosted “thought bubble”. “Australians have a choice between a renewable energy transition that’s already under way creating jobs and driving down prices, or paying for an expensive nuclear fantasy that may never happen,” Plibersek said.
