Hunter Biden found guilty on all counts in gun trial

Wilmington, DEL. – First son Hunter Biden was found guilty on all charges in his historic criminal case focused on his purchase of a firearm in 2018. Hunter Biden faced a trial this month that lasted more than a week and included emotional testimony from members of his family, including daughter Naomi Biden, ex-wife Kathleen Buhle and sister-in-law turned girlfriend, Hallie Biden. Prosecutors worked to prove that Hunter Biden lied on a federal firearm form, known as ATF Form 4473, in October 2018 when he ticked a box labeled “No” when asked if he is an unlawful user of a firearm or addicted to controlled substances. Hunter Biden purchased the gun from a store called StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington. Hunter Biden faced charges of making a false statement in the purchase of a gun, making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federally licensed gun dealer, and possession of a gun by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance. HUNTER BIDEN TRIAL ENTERS DAY 5 AFTER TESTIMONY FROM SISTER-IN-LAW-TURNED-GIRLFRIEND: ‘PANICKED’ He pleaded not guilty in the case. Hunter Biden has a well-documented history of drug abuse, which was most notably documented in his 2021 memoir, “Beautiful Things,” which walks readers through his previous need to smoke crack cocaine every 20 minutes, how his addiction was so prolific that he referred to himself as a “crack daddy” to drug dealers, and anecdotes revolving around drug deals, such as a Washington, D.C., crack dealer Biden nicknamed “Bicycles.” His defense team, led by attorney Abbe Lowell, did not dispute Hunter Biden’s long history with substance abuse, which also includes an addiction to alcohol, instead arguing that on the day Hunter Biden purchased the Cobra Colt .38, he did not consider himself an active drug addict, citing the first son’s sting in rehab ahead of the October 2018 purchase. Prosecutors, however, argued that Hunter Biden’s addiction to crack cocaine occurred both before, during and after the purchase of the handgun. Just one day after the gun purchase, prosecutors showed the court, Hunter Biden texted Hallie Biden that he was “waiting for a dealer named Mookie.” A day after that text, he texted that he was “sleeping on a car smoking crack on 4th Street and Rodney” in Wilmington. HUNTER BIDEN TRIAL ENTERS DAY 4 AFTER WILD TESTIMONY FROM EXES ON RAMPANT DRUG USE, TRASHED HOTEL ROOMS The verdict marks an end to the whirlwind and at times emotional trial. Last week, Hunter Biden’s defense team called his daughter, Naomi Biden, to the witness stand, with the first son appearing to dab his eyes when his daughter first walked into the courtroom. The first granddaughter, who told the court she was “nervous” amid the testimony, told the court that she was aware of her father’s addiction to drugs but said she had never witnessed him use drugs, namely crack cocaine. Naomi Biden walked the court through a California trip she took in August 2018 to visit her father amid his stint at a rehab facility. She said she met with Hunter Biden, his sober coach, alongside her then-boyfriend and eventual husband, Peter Neal, for lunch at a coffee shop, noting she was proud of her father for his work on getting sober. HUNTER BIDEN TRIAL ENTERS 3RD DAY WITH CROSS-EXAMINATION OF FBI AGENT The trial also included testimony from Hallie Biden, Beau Biden’s widow, who began a romantic relationship with her brother-in-law, Hunter Biden, in 2015. Hallie Biden, who testified under immunity, walked the jury through the rise and fall of their relationship, including when she first discovered crack at her home and had to google what the substance was because she had never seen it before. Biden first introduced her to crack, which she also smoked before becoming sober in August 2018, she told the court. “It was a terrible experience I went through, and I was embarrassed and ashamed. … I regret that period of my life,” Hallie Biden told the court on Thursday about her use of crack cocaine. The widowed mother of two was joined in court by her husband, John Hopkins Anning, whom she married the weekend prior to testifying. ‘LIKE A SON’: FORMER TOP BIDEN ADVISER WITH DEEP BUSINESS TIES TO CHINA SPOTTED INSIDE HUNTER BIDEN GUN TRIAL Biden’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, also delivered short testimony toward the start of the trial. She told the court that she first discovered her then-husband’s crack cocaine addiction in 2015, when she found a crack pipe on the side porch of their home in Washington, D.C. The couple was married for more than 20 years — divorcing in 2017 — and share three adult daughters. The first son was joined in court by family, friends and Biden family allies each day in court, most notably by his stepmother, first lady Jill Biden, as well as Biden’s sister Ashley Biden and President Biden’s sister, Valerie Biden. Hunter Biden was also joined by his second wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, to whom he was drawn to like a magnet when court broke for lunch or other pauses, often taking her hand as they left court. HUNTER BIDEN’S WIFE LASHES OUT AT FORMER TRUMP AIDE DURING COURT APPEARANCE: ‘PIECE OF S—‘ Jill Biden skipped one day of the trial to fly to Normandy, France, to join President Biden for events commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day and also notably missed her former daughter-in-law Kathleen Buhle’s testimony earlier in the week. Biden was attentive and engaged throughout his trial, taking notes, examining evidence presented in court, and surveying jurors throughout the day, most notably when they walked in and out of court for breaks. The trial focused on Biden’s Oct. 12, 2018 purchase of the firearm at StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply, when prosecutors argued that Biden lied on the federal form that he was not using or addicted to drugs. The firearm remained in his possession for 11 days before
‘Ongoing chaos’: Conservative group targets vulnerable Dem senators in scathing ad about key election issue

FIRST ON FOX: A conservative activist group has released a new ad urging Senate Democrats, particularly those facing tough reelections in red states, to support a House bill aimed at preventing noncitizens from voting in U.S. elections. Building America’s Future announced in a press release that the ad is “urging Americans to tell Senate Democrats to pass HR 192 and stop illegal immigrants from voting in US elections.” “HR 192, which was advanced by the House in May, would nullify a Washington, DC law allowing noncitizens to vote in elections,” the press release states. Vulnerable Senate Democrats Sherrod Brown and John Tester are included in the ad that is running on digital platforms “as the latest spot in Building America’s Future’s ongoing ‘Chaos at the Border’ campaign.” HOUSE GOP EYES ELECTION SAFEGUARDS TO BLOCK ‘DANGEROUSLY HIGH NUMBER’ OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FROM VOTING “They’re killing Americans,” the ad says before showing a photo of Jose Ibarra, the illegal immigrant who allegedly killed Georgia nursing student Laken Riley earlier this year. “They’re targeting our military,” the ad continues with a reference to the two foreign nationals who were recently arrested after attempting to breach a Marine Corps base in Virginia. TOP DEM’S PAST PUSH FOR NONCITIZEN VOTING RIGHTS REVEALED AHEAD OF HOUSE VOTE “And now Democrats want to give illegal immigrants the right to vote in our elections. But Speaker Johnson and House Republicans are holding the line and defending democracy. Passing common sense legislation that safeguards our elections from illegals,” the ad says. “Voting is our right as Americans. Tell Senate Democrats: Pass HR 192 and keep illegals out of our elections.” The ad closes with photos of Montana Sen. John Tester and Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, who are both Democratic senators facing tough re-election campaigns in states Republicans hope they can flip to take back control of the Senate. Fox News Digital reached out to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., whose image is also featured in the ad along with Tester and Brown, but did not receive a response. Building America’s Future has previously run ads hitting Democrats on immigration, including an ad slamming President Biden over Riley’s murder that bracketed the president’s State of the Union address earlier this year.
Bragg, Colangelo to testify at House Judiciary Committee hearing one day after Trump sentencing

EXCLUSIVE: Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo have agreed to testify publicly before the House Judiciary Committee next month, Fox News Digital has learned. The hearing is expected to take place on July 12 — just a day after the scheduled sentencing hearing for former President Trump, who was found guilty in New York on all counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, had invited Bragg to testify Thursday of this week, but due to “scheduling conflicts,” the testimony needed to be postponed. MANHATTAN DA ALVIN BRAGG AGREES TO TESTIFY IN HOUSE GOP PROBE, BUT NOT ON THEIR TIMETABLE Instead, this Thursday, Jordan will host a broad oversight hearing on New York v. Trump on Capitol Hill, featuring testimony from Federal Election Commissioner Trey Trainor; Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey; and attorney Elizabeth Foley, who penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal during the six-week-long Trump trial that said the proceedings violated basic due-process principles. Fox News Digital has learned that Jordan is also planning other oversight hearings, which could come as early as later this month, orin early July. A source familiar with the planning told Fox News Digital Jordan is even considering a field hearing in New York City. Meanwhile, Fox News Digital has learned that Jordan is also weighing subpoenas for Attorney General Merrick Garland and New York Attorney General Letitia James surrounding Colangelo’s work for the Justice Department. Colangelo has been working on Trump lawsuits and prosecutions since his time in the New York attorney general’s office in 2018. At the time, Colangelo was also paid by the Democratic National Committee for “political consulting.” EX-TOP BIDEN DOJ OFFICIAL NOW PROSECUTING TRUMP WAS ONCE PAID BY DNC FOR ‘POLITICAL CONSULTING’ Colangelo left that office on Jan. 20, 2021, the first day of the Biden administration, and began serving as acting associate attorney general at the Justice Department. Colangelo then became the principal deputy associate attorney general at the Biden Justice Department, helping to oversee multiple departments, including the Civil, Civil Rights, Antitrust and Tax Divisions. NY V. TRUMP: JUDGE REVEALS FACEBOOK POST IMPLYING JUROR DISCUSSED GUILTY VERDICT BEFORE TRIAL CONCLUDED Colangelo joined Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office in December 2022. Jordan has been demanding that Garland turn over records related to Colangelo’s employment at the Justice Department, as he conducts “oversight of politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials.” Bragg charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. TRUMP TO PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL PRE-SENTENCING INTERVIEW WITH PROBATION OFFICERS Trump pleaded not guilty to all counts. The jury in New York v. Trump found the former president and presumptive Republican presidential nominee guilty on all counts. His sentencing hearing is set for July 11 — just four days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he is expected to be formally nominated as the 2024 Republican presidential nominee. Trump participated in a pre-sentencing virtual interview with New York probation officers Monday. As part of Jordan’s oversight work, he has already held a field hearing in New York on the case; subpoenaed ex-Bragg prosecutor Mark Pomerantz and released Pomerantz’s deposition before the committee. Bragg, after the verdict last month, defended his work. “I did my job. Our job is to follow the facts and the law without fear or favor. And that’s exactly what we did here,” he said. “I did my job. We did our job. Many voices out there. The only voice that matters is the voice of the jury. And the jury has spoken.”

At least 49 dead, 140 missing in migrant boat sinking off Yemen: UN

Refugees and migrants are increasingly taking the dangerous route despite instability in Yemen and the fallout of the war on Gaza. At least 49 people have been killed and 140 more are missing after a boat carrying refugees and migrants from the Horn of Africa to Yemen sank, according to the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration (IOM). The vessel that capsized on Monday was carrying some 260 people, mostly from Ethiopia and Somalia, who had set off from the northern coast of Somalia to travel 320km (200 miles) across the Gulf of Aden to reach Yemen. Refugees and migrants from the Horn of Africa and East Africa are increasingly braving the dangerous journey to reach Saudi Arabia and other Arab states of the region via Yemen. The IOM said in a statement on Tuesday that 71 people had been rescued, eight of whom were taken to hospital. At least six children and 31 women were among the dead. In April, at least 62 people died in two shipwrecks off the coast of Djibouti as they tried to reach Yemen. The IOM said at least 1,860 people have died or disappeared along the route, including 480 who drowned. More refugees and migrants are taking the route despite the devastating effects of a nearly decade-long war in Yemen, which erupted after the Houthi group rebelled and took control of large areas of the country, including the capital, Sanaa. The flow of migration has been undeterred in the aftermath of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, as well. The Iran-aligned Houthis have for months carried out attacks on commercial and military vessels in the Gulf of Aden, demanding that Israel end the war on Gaza, with the United States and the United Kingdom responding with air raids on Yemen in a stated effort to protect international interests. The number of migrants arriving in Yemen annually tripled from 2021 to 2023, soaring from about 27,000 to more than 90,000, the IOM said last month. The agency reports that about 380,000 migrants are currently in Yemen. The sinking of the boat on Monday “is another reminder of the urgent need to work together to address urgent migration challenges and ensure the safety and security of migrants along migration routes,” said IOM spokesperson Mohammedali Abunajela. Nuseirat, anatomy of Israel’s massacre in Gaza

It was hailed as a great success in Israel. A bloody, violent ambush that turned into a massacre of nearly 300 displaced people who were going about their day as best they could. Suddenly, they found themselves “descending into the depths of hell”, Al Jazeera’s Maram Humaid wrote on June 8. An Israeli raid on the Nuseirat refugee camp, ostensibly to free four Israeli captives held there, but reportedly resulted in the death of three more including one US citizen, according to the Qassam Brigades. That is, besides the at least 274 Palestinians killed. What happened in Nuseirat? How did Israel kill so many people? Here is a breakdown of the attack: What happened? The attack on Nuseirat was ostensibly to free four captives taken on October 7: Noa Argamani, 25, Almog Meir Jan, 21, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 40. It began around 11am, with what witnesses say were several civilian trucks and cars entering a neighbourhood near the camp’s market. [Al Jazeera] One was loaded with furniture to appear it was moving displaced people, while another had commercial markings on its exterior. There were what appeared to be civilian vehicles in the group, as well. To provide air cover, Israeli forces started bombing from above, hitting the busy market area the hardest, likely to spread as much panic and distress as possible, as well as to inflict maximum casualties. [Al Jazeera] Telegram channels began circulating news that bombings could be heard in the camp at around 11:35am. At a certain point, the convoy separated into two groups of vehicles. Later, investigation revealed that each group had headed towards a location where Israeli captives were held. The three male captives were at one location, where Al Jazeera believes that a witness account details how soldiers got to the house. There, heavily armed soldiers jumped out of the vehicles and ran through a cluster of makeshift tents put up by displaced people. The witness describes how everyone cowered in fear inside their flimsy shelters, little more than a piece of fabric between them and the armed soldiers. [Al Jazeera] At the end of their run, they arrived at a garden wall, through which they punched a hole to approach a quiet apartment building from the back. Al Jazeera has not been able to ascertain whether this was the only access point to this building, which is surrounded by a garden on at least two sides and likely faces onto a road. Noa Argamani was held at another location, in a building facing a narrow, tree-lined street. There, a truck pulled up, supported by soldiers who were shooting on sight, killing one person at the entrance of the building. From footage Al Jazeera has reviewed, there were no weapons to be seen near or on the killed individual. A ladder was extended from the truck to allow soldiers to clamber into an apartment through its balcony. All reports Al Jazeera has gathered indicate that Israeli soldiers were shooting people on sight in buildings they entered, as well as on the streets that the soldiers moved through. To support the operation on land, the Israeli army reportedly moved armoured vehicles in from the other side of Salah al-Din Road at the line between Nuseirat and Bureij refugee camps. At a certain point during the raid, more Israeli soldiers landed in a helicopter on Gaza’s shore, not far from the US-built pier. [Al Jazeera] Analysis would indicate that these were to provide backup, if needed and to evacuate the captives. After the four individuals were retrieved, the convoy of disguised trucks and civilian vehicles headed out of the camp towards the sea, taking the Nuseirat road. From there, the four were loaded onto the Israeli military helicopter and lifted off, leaving carnage behind as the bewildered people of Nuseirat tried to comprehend what had happened. What did the people in Nuseirat do when this horror was over? The wounded were taken to Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Balah, quickly overwhelming both medical and morgue facilities. A widely shared video on social media shows the few remaining medics in the hospital standing in the middle of countless people lying on the floor, in agony, bleeding and screaming. The medic in the middle of the shot is bereft. He can no longer move around because there are so many patients lying on every square inch of the tile floor, there is nowhere for him to put his feet. It is not clear how he continued that day, how he triaged wounds, and how he made the decision of who to allocate the nearly nonexistent hospital resources to. *الإصابات تفترش ممرات مستشفى شهداء الأقصى بعد المجزرة التي ارتكبها جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي في مخيم النصيرات في ظل تدميره للقطاع الطبي في كل مناطق قطاع غزة* pic.twitter.com/HyFRmlfux2 — Tariq Jaber (@TariqJaber14041) June 8, 2024 Translation: In light of what the Israeli occupation army has done to decimate the Gaza healthcare sector, injured people cover the corridors of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital after the massacre that the Israeli occupation army committed in the Nusierat refugee camp. Within the hour, as staff frantically tried to treat the overwhelming number of wounded, the hospital received an evacuation order from Israel’s military. The hospital was in an area previously designated by Israel’s military as a safe zone. But the operation, deemed by the Israelis and their international allies as a resounding success, not only killed numerous Palestinians, but a few hostages as well. The Qassam Brigades posted a video to its Telegram channel on Sunday that showed three unidentified corpses, their faces covered, claiming they belonged to three captives, including one who was a US citizen, whom Israel killed during its raid. Wait… Israeli soldiers snuck in how? Israeli forces were “perfidiously hiding in an aid truck”, UN Special Rapporteur of the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese said. “This is ‘humanitarian camouflage’ at another level,” she wrote on X. Israel has denied the accusation. How many people were killed or
NJ reviewing Trump golf courses’ liquor licenses after felony conviction

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control is reviewing the liquor licenses at properties owned by former President Donald Trump. The Alcoholic Beverage Control division (ABC) is considering whether Trump’s recent felony conviction violates a clause in the state law that restricts licenses based on criminal history. “ABC is reviewing the impact of President Trump’s conviction on the above referenced licenses, and declines further comment at this time,” the Attorney General Matthew Platkin’s office told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. CRUCIAL PRIMARY RACES TO BE DECIDED TUESDAY, SETTING UP FIGHT FOR BALANCE OF POWER According to New Jersey state law, “No license of any class shall be issued to any person under the age of 18 years or to any person who has been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.” Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records in a New York City court on May 30, but that appears to have had little effect on his level of support. TRUMP GOLF COURSE LIQUOR LICENSE TARGETED IN NEW JERSEY AFTER 2015 FATAL CRASH: REPORTS The liquor licenses at the Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck, Trump National Golf Club Pine Hill, and the Lamington Farm Club are all implicated in the review. Former Attorney General of New Jersey Gurbir Grewal tried to pull the liquor license from Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck in 2019, citing a fatal car accident caused by an intoxicated driver leaving the club. The case ultimately resulted in the club paying approximately $400,000 to the ABC and restricting the availability of alcohol on the premises to specific areas. Biden student loan handouts get approval from just 3 in 10 Americans

President Biden’s student loan handouts, a campaign priority for the Democrat incumbent, received approval from just 30% of Americans, according to the results of a new national poll released on Tuesday. Three in 10 U.S. adults say they approve of how Biden has handled the issue of student loan debt, while 4 in 10 disapprove, a new poll from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found. The others are neutral or say they do not know enough to say. Among those responsible for unpaid student loan debt, either for themselves or for a family member, just 36% of respondents approve of Biden’s handling of the handouts, while 34% disapprove. The results reveal a deep divide over the issue of student debt relief even as Biden is pressing ahead with a new cancelation plan in a bid to energize young adults and Black and Hispanic Americans. Those groups are more likely to prioritize student loan relief but have flagging approval for the president, according to the AP. WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BIDEN’S LATEST ATTEMPT AT STUDENT LOAN CANCELLATION After Biden’s first attempt at a widespread student loan handout was struck down by the Supreme Court last year, he proposed a more targeted plan offering relief to certain categories of borrowers. The Biden administration has separately erased student debt for about 4 million people through existing programs, the AP reported. The results showed that Americans overall had a dimmer view on the Supreme Court’s handling of student loan handouts: 15% approve of its work on the issue and around one-quarter disapprove. The poll of 1,309 adults was conducted May 16-21, 2024, using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 3.7 percentage points. Biden’s new plan would erase some or all debt for several groups: those with so much accrued interest that they owe more than they originally borrowed, those who have been repaying undergraduate loans for at least 20 years, borrowers who went to low-value college programs that leave graduates with large sums of debt compared to their earnings and those who face other kinds of financial hardship. KEVIN O’LEARY TORCHES BIDEN STUDENT LOAN HANDOUT AS ‘UNFAIR’ AND ‘UN-AMERICAN’: ‘I REALLY REALLY HATE THIS’ The poll found that none of those categories have support from a majority of Americans. Just under half supported relief for those who have made on-time payments for 20 years, and 44% support it for people who now owe more on their loan than they originally borrowed. About 4 in 10 supported it for those who went to an institution that left borrowers with large amounts of debt compared to their incomes or those facing other forms of financial hardship. About 4 in 10 adults said it is extremely or very important for the federal government to provide student debt relief. A similar share said it is not too important or not important at all, with about one-quarter in the middle, saying they believe it is somewhat important. Just 15% of Republicans said it is extremely or very important to prioritize government action on student debt, compared to 58% of Democrats. Republicans often say taxpayers should not get burdened with repaying other people’s college debt. The poll found younger adults are more likely to prioritize government action on student debt, with about half under 45 saying it is extremely or very important, compared to 3 in 10 older adults who said the same. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
