Hill aide interferes with Fox News camera crew during Tlaib interview

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal” on Thursday during fiery remarks that grew more contentious when a Capitol Hill staffer used an umbrella to obstruct a Fox News cameraman who was filming the exchange. The unidentified aide is seen in video of the encounter repeatedly opening and closing his umbrella. The action interferes with the camera shot and at one point the umbrella seemingly makes contact with the operator, who witnesses say was hit in the face and upper body. The interaction occurred as Chad Pergram, Fox News Channel’s senior congressional correspondent, was asking Tlaib about Netanyahu potentially being asked to address members of Congress. The prospects for such an invite have gained momentum in the wake of the decision by the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, who has overseen Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The move by the ICC has drawn bipartisan ire, though Tlaib has been a consistent critic of Netanyahu. “What happens if Netanyahu comes to speak?” Pergram asks Tlaib in the video as the staffer opens the umbrella, obstructing the camera’s view and forcing Pergram to move. ‘SQUAD’ MEMBER REP. TLAIB CALLS FOR NETANYAHU’S ARREST; GOP SENATORS WARN ICC OF SERIOUS REPERCUSSIONS “Ms. Tlaib, what happens if Netanyahu comes to speak? Is that a mistake by the speaker to extend this request?” Pergram continues. The staffer is then seen closing the umbrella as Pergram asks Tlaib: “Would you attend? Would you protest in any form?” Tlaib answers, slamming Netanyahu and those who would consider inviting him to speak to Congress. “I don’t know, inviting a war criminal to Congress is a sham,” Tlaib says. “It’s shameful.” As she responds, the staffer steps between the cameraman and Pergram, who is still questioning Tlaib, and opens the umbrella again. The camera then pans wildly as the umbrella makes contact with the operator. “He hit me with an umbrella,” the cameraman is heard saying in the video. “I did not hit you with an umbrella,” the staffer responds. “We have it on video, guys. He hit him with an umbrella,” Pergram tells Tlaib and the aide. “That’s assault.” Tlaib and the aide continue on, walking past Capitol police officers and up the stairs into the Capitol. Tlaib’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. Tlaib’s refusal to answer Pergram’s questions comes after House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., drafted an invitation for Netanyahu to deliver an address to Congress. Johnson told reporters Thursday that he gave Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., an ultimatum: either sign on to the drafted invitation or the House will extend the invitation on its own. ZOOM CALL REVEALS ‘SQUAD’ DEMOCRAT’S MESSAGE TO ANTI-JEWISH AGITATORS AT UNIVERSITY ENCAMPMENT “My office told Senator Schumer’s office yesterday that he needed to sign the joint letter, and if not, we were gonna proceed and invite Netanyahu just to the House, and I’ll send individual invitations to senators,” Johnson said. An outspoken critic of Israel’s war with Hamas, Tlaib called for the arrest of Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials earlier this month for what she called violations of the Genocide Convention under international law. In a May 7 press release, Tlaib called out the government of Israel for its ground operation in Rafah, also lambasting continued U.S. aid given to the Jewish State. “It’s no coincidence that immediately after our government sent the Israeli apartheid regime over $14 billion with absolutely no conditions on upholding human rights, Netanyahu began a ground invasion of Rafah to continue the genocide of Palestinians — with ammunition and bombs paid for by our tax dollars,” she said at the time. “Over 1.5 million Palestinian civilians, including over 600,000 children, are trapped in Rafah, living in makeshift tents, without food, clean water, sanitation, medicine, or any form of shelter.” Tlaib accused Israeli forces of killing over 35,000 Palestinians and displacing families in Rafah, exposing them to more “unimaginable human suffering.” She also warned her constituents in the release that many of her colleagues would express concern over the “crimes against humanity” in Rafah, even though the same colleagues voted in favor of giving Netanyahu the means to do so. “Do not be misled, they gave their consent for these atrocities, and our country is actively participating in genocide,” Tlaib said. “For months, Netanyahu made his intent to invade Rafah clear, yet the majority of my colleagues and President Biden sent more weapons to enable the massacre.” She claimed Netanyahu will only stay in power as long as fighting continues, adding that the U.S. must stop funding Israel. Turkish migrant crossing US border says Americans are ‘right’ to be concerned: ‘No security’

A Turkish migrant, who told Fox News he paid around $10,000 to a cartel on his way to the United States, selling everything he owned, said Americans should be worried about the lack of security at the southern border. The man told Fox News after crossing illegally into Jacumba, California, in San Diego County: “In fact, American people is right, completely true. Who comes into this country? They don’t know. OK, I’m good. But how if they’re not good? How if they’re killers, psychopath, else? No guarantee of that.” He added of crossing the border: “Like, no security, no security check, no background check.” JORDANIAN WHO TRIED TO BREACH MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO WAS IN US ILLEGALLY, SOURCES SAY He said he worried about who is crossing the border because “people are not normal.” He told Fox News his trek to the U.S. took him 24 days, and he traveled through Qatar, Dubai, Egypt, South Africa and Brazil before he arrived in Central America to come to the U.S. Fox News witnessed dozens of migrants, mainly from China and Turkey, crossing into Southern California on Thursday. San Diego County has become the busiest sector in the country for illegal crossings, with U.S. Customs and Broder Patrol saying 37,370 people came through in April, according to the Los Angeles Times. CBP told Fox News that 120 Chinese migrants crossed into California just on Thursday. This comes as record numbers of migrants continue to cross the border illegally, and a day after a bipartisan immigration bill failed for a second time in the Senate on a 43-50 vote after it was blocked by Republicans and a few Democrats. “We gave Republicans a second chance to show where they stand,” Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said after the vote. “Do they want to fix this so-called emergency or do they want to show blind allegiance to the former president even when they know he’s wrong?” MOST AMERICANS CALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ‘VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM,’ POLLS FINDS “Today is not a bill, today is a prop,” Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., said on the floor ahead of the vote. “Everyone sees it for what it is.” Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said in a statement earlier this week: “I will not vote for the bill coming to the Senate floor this week because it includes several provisions that will violate Americans’ shared values. These provisions would not make us safe.” Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., who along with Lankford was one of the bill’s primary authors, said the bill wouldn’t help keep the border safe. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “To use this failure as a political punching bag only punishes those who were courageous enough to do the hard work in the first place,” she said, calling the vote “political theater.” Illegal immigration has become one of the main issues going into the 2024 presidential election this fall.
AOC claims Trump’s re-election would mean higher gas prices as fuel costs hit record high under Biden

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., put former President Trump on blast, alleging that he would enable foreign energy producers to “price gouge” if he wins re-election. In an interview on Spectrum News NY1 on Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez reacted to Trump’s upcoming rally near her district and potential messaging the former president may use to appeal to the working-class borough. “I suspect there’s going to be a lot of out-of-towners there,” the Democratic representative said. “And listen, we have a big, diverse city, I’m sure someone will be showing up supportive.” WHITE HOUSE RELEASED 1M BARRELS OF GASOLINE, ATTEMPTING TO BRING PRICES DOWN Ocasio-Cortez turned the conversation to gas prices, warning voters that Trump would raise prices by enabling foreign energy producers to “price gouge.” “But even on the economic point, we just saw that the former president met with oil executives last week saying, hey, you give me $1 billion, and I’ll make sure that you get the policies that are favorable to raising gas prices and making sure that a lot of these companies continue to price gouge without proper oversight or regulation,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “And so the idea that we’d be bringing those down when he’s cashing in for those same folks that are bringing those prices up, I think is a little bit suspect,” she added. AOC’s words of warning came after AAA announced last week that gas prices were over 50% higher than when Biden was inaugurated. The national average for a gallon of gas was nearly $3.62, up from $2.39 on Jan. 20, 2021, when the president was sworn in. Gas prices for part of 2022 – a year after Biden took office- were double what they were when he was sworn in. According to AAA, the highest recorded average price for unleaded gas in the U.S. was on June 14, 2022, when a gallon cost consumers $5.016. Nationwide, gas prices currently sit at approximately $3.62 per gallon, according to statistics from AAA. FOX NEWS POLL: HIGHER PRICES AFFECTING SUMMER TRAVEL PLANS The latest Fox News survey found that over 8 in 10 (84%) voters say gas prices are a problem for their family. That includes nearly half — 49% — who say they are a “major” problem. While that’s the same as last year (49% major problem), it’s down from 67% who said the same in 2022. Those most likely to feel the pain at the pump are Republicans (92% a problem), Hispanic voters, rural voters, voters under age 30, women (88% each), and independents (85%). Democrats and voters ages 65 and over (76% each) are less likely to say gas prices are a problem. Inflation has cooled from a 40-year high of 9.1% in June 2022, but has remained persistent, with prices climbing 3.5% year-over-year in March, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The national average for a gallon of gas has also dropped from its June 2022 peak when it surpassed $5, but that’s been rising steadily since March, according to AAA. CONSERVATIVE GROUP PARTNERS WITH GAS STATIONS TO HIGHLIGHT ‘BIDEN’s WAR ON AMERICAN ENERGY’: HERE’S HOW The sticker shock at the pump should soften after the White House announced on Tuesday the release of over 1 million barrels of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve. “The Biden-Harris administration is laser-focused on lowering prices at the pump for American families, especially as drivers hit the road for summer driving season,″ Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said in a statement. Oil will be pumped from storage facilities in New Jersey and Maine, releasing 100,000 barrels at a time. Officials say the staggered release will ensure competitive pricing and effective delivery to retailers ahead of the summer holiday season. Fox News Digital has reached out to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and the Trump campaign for comment. Fox News Digital’s Megan Meyers and Timothy Nerozzi contributed to this report.
Polling guru Nate Silver offers ‘struggling’ Biden advice as polls with Trump tighten

Nate Silver, the founder of FiveThirtyEight, said that if Biden is still “struggling” by the end of the summer, he should consider dropping out of the presidential race. “If Biden is still struggling in August he needs to consider stepping aside,” the polling guru wrote on X on Thursday. “It’s not a great situation for Ds either way, but you have to do due diligence on the question. It’s an important election, obviously. It shouldn’t be taboo to talk about.” Recent polls have shown former President Trump leading in several key swing states as Biden continues to get low favorability ratings. But a new poll this week shows the race deadlocked nationally. WARNING SIGNS FOR TRUMP AND BIDEN AS THEY CAREEN TOWARDS NEXT MONTH’S FIRST PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE The Democratic president stands 48% among registered voters, with his Republican predecessor in the White House at 47%, according to a Quinnipiac University survey released on Wednesday. Biden’s one-point edge over Trump is well within the poll’s margin of error. In a likely five-candidate showdown, Biden stands at 41%, Trump at 38%, Democrat-turned-independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. grabs 14% support, with Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent progressive candidate Cornel West each at 2%. “Call them fair weather, call them unsure. A sizable block of registered voters is still juggling candidates, with Kennedy voters particularly swayable and Trump voters less inclined to bail on their candidate,” Quinnipiac University polling analyst Tim Mally highlighted. TRUMP AHEAD OF BIDEN IN THESE CRUCIAL PRESIDENTIAL BATTLEGROUND STATES A Fox News survey earlier this month showed Trump narrowly ahead of Biden (a one-point lead) in a tightened race as an uptick in economic optimism pushed approval of Biden up. Silver later added on X, “*If* Biden is still trailing Trump by >=3 points in the swing states in August—not something I take for granted—then he’ll be a pretty big underdog. It would be bananas not to consider alternatives. Sometimes all you get choose from is different types of bananas.” He added that if the first debate goes “*really* badly” for Biden and he’s polling five to six points behind Trump in swing states, “That’s a nearly unsalvageable position. You’d have to pull the emergency lever.” The two candidates have agreed to two TV debates in June and September ahead of the election on Nov. 5. Pennsylvania Rep. Dwight Evans says he’s recovering from a minor stroke

U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans of Philadelphia said Thursday that he is in a rehabilitation facility recovering from a minor stroke, and plans to return to voting in Washington in about six weeks. Evans, a Democrat serving his fourth term, said he is having difficulty with one of his legs that will impact his walking for some time and expects to leave the rehabilitation facility in about a week. PHILADELPHIA MAYOR ENDING REMOTE WORK POLICY FOR ALL FULL-TIME CITY EMPLOYEES Evans, 70, said he received the diagnosis this week for a stroke that was so minor that he didn’t realize what had happened for a few days. He said the stroke won’t affect his long-term ability to serve in Congress. He said he took some time to rest and decide how to go public with the diagnosis. “In the coming months, I want to help educate people and remove the stigma that sometimes accompanies strokes — many people can recover and continue on with their life and their work,” Evans said. Evans served for 36 years in the state House of Representatives, rising to become Appropriations Committee chairman, before winning the seat of the convicted former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah.
Blue state gov signs bill to help doctors evade neighboring state’s abortion law: ‘Oppressive and dangerous’

Abortionists in Arizona can now travel to California to evade a reinstated 160-year-old, pre-statehood law that outlaws abortions in nearly all circumstances and criminalizes abortions. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, who just returned from speaking at the Vatican Climate Summit in Rome, signed Senate Bill 233 on Thursday afternoon. “Arizona Republicans tried to turn back the clock to 1864 to impose a near-total abortion ban across their state,” Newsom said in a statement. “We refuse to stand by and acquiesce to their oppressive and dangerous attacks on women.” Newsom, who championed the bill with the state’s women’s caucus following the news of Arizona’s Supreme Court ruling, said he’s “grateful” to “provide this backstop.” “California stands ready to protect reproductive freedom,” he said. WHERE AMERICANS STAND ON ABORTION IN OUR LATEST FOX NEWS POLL SB 233, authored by Democratic state Sen. Nancy Skinner, will immediately shield Arizona abortionists from penalties in their home state and allow them to “temporarily” perform abortions on Arizonian women in the Golden State. The bill passed the state Senate this week after it had already cleared the Assembly. “With Governor Newsom’s signature on SB 233, our Arizona sisters can come to California to get the health care they need from their own doctors, who they know and rely on,” Skinner, who chairs the women’s legislative caucus, said Thursday. “And their Arizona doctors can come to California without fear of spending 2 to 5 years in prison — the penalty under Arizona’s 1864 law. Once again, California has made it crystal clear for all those who need or deliver essential reproductive care: We’ve got your back.” ARIZONA SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS NEAR-TOTAL ABORTION BAN This month, the pro-abortion governor furthered his national campaign for abortion by releasing an ad targeting Alabama Republicans opposing a bill permitting women to seek abortions out of state. The ad, which shows a police officer pulling over a woman and handing her a pregnancy test, states, “Trump Republicans want to criminalize young Alabama women who travel for reproductive care.” California was one of several blue states that expanded abortion access following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in summer 2022. In an interview with MSNBC host Jen Psaki on Sunday, Newsom cited efforts in Tennessee, Idaho and Oklahoma to restrict abortion as attacks “happening in real time,” and stated the “response must be in real time to be more assertive and proactive.” The Arizona Supreme Court issued a ruling in April reverting the state back to a pre-statehood near-total abortion ban. The law would also make it a felony for anyone who “provides, supplies or administers to a pregnant woman, or procures such woman to take any medicine, drugs or substance, or uses or employs any instrument or other means whatever, with intent thereby to procure the miscarriage of such woman, unless it is necessary to save her life,” potentially carrying a prison sentence between 2 and 5 years. LOUISANA LEGISLATURE APPROVES BILL CLASSIFYING ABORTION PILLS AS CONTROLLED DANGEOUS SUBSTANCES The law, which was codified in 1913 after Arizona became a state, includes an exception in cases where the mother’s life is at risk. Last month, the Democrat-controlled California legislature shot down a bill that would have required 7-12th-grade curriculum to incorporate details about free resources available at pro-life pregnancy care centers.
Rubio demands Columbia president refund students after takeover by ‘lawless, pro-Hamas rioters’

FIRST ON FOX: Columbia University President Minouche Shafik is being urged to refund students who were inconvenienced and lost out on education services they paid for with their tuition during the lengthy anti-Israel encampment on campus. “I write to urge you to refund Columbia students for the thousands of dollars of tuition and fees they paid Columbia University while you allowed lawless, pro-Hamas rioters to stop your institution from fulfilling its most basic obligation: providing a quality education,” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said in a letter to the university president. The anti-Israel encampment, which saw antisemitic intimidation and language and the takeover of a campus building, began in mid-April and was not cleared until the end of the month. BIDEN ADMIN SLAMMED FOR ‘DOUBLING DOWN’ ON ALLEGED GAZA REFUGEE PLANS According to the Florida senator, students are owed reimbursement for “the quality education they had paid for.” He noted that Jewish students were targeted, and the safety of all those on campus was threatened. Notably, Jewish students were even told to leave campus by a rabbi, who claimed the school was not able to keep them safe amid the chaos of the encampment, which included pro-Hamas chants and signage. SCHUMER-BACKED BORDER BILL FAILS A SECOND TIME WITH EVEN LESS DEM SUPPORT “It wasn’t until rioters stormed and occupied Columbia’s Hamilton Hall on April 30th nearly two weeks after you allowed protestors to re-occupy Columbia’s campus — that you finally invited NYPD to respond and clear the rioters,” Rubio reminded Shafik. “Yet, by this time, safety threats on campus had become so severe that you were forced to cancel Columbia’s undergraduate commencement ceremony and cancel in-person final exams,” he added. VISA BANS FOR ICC OFFICIALS URGED BY BIPARTISAN SENATORS AFTER ISRAEL ARREST WARRANT REQUESTS “Your failure to respond to illegal rioters caused many Columbia undergraduates to miss three weeks of in-person education,” the senator wrote. He said nothing would be able to “undo the damage” done when the university allowed the encampment to escalate but encouraged her to reimburse students. BIDEN OUTPACES TRUMP WITH 200 CONFIRMED JUDGES, CEMENTING IMPACT ON COURTS “Basic calculations suggest a $6,400 per student refund would offset for a three-week interruption in Columbia’s services,” he said, adding no students who participated in the encampments should be eligible. ‘Crisis to the front gates’: GOP governor rips Biden after illegal immigrants tried to breach military base

A Republican governor is demanding the Biden administration provide further details on how two illegal immigrants were nearly able to breach a Marine Corps base, citing “grave concerns” for safety in his state as migrants continue to pour through the southern border. In the May 22 letter addressed to President Biden, Virginia Gov. Youngkin detailed being “deeply concerned” over a recent attempt by illegal immigrants to breach a U.S. military site. Two Jordanians attempted to enter the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia on May 3, posing as deliverers for a company subcontracted by Amazon. The individuals, confirmed to be in the country illegally, were directed by officers to a holding area after the failed attempt to enter the base. “The federal government has not provided adequate information to Virginia on these matters, and the publicly available facts are disturbing,” Youngkin wrote. YOUNGKIN VETOES SLEW OF VIRGINIA BILLS, INCLUDING CONTRACEPTION ACCESS MEASURE “The attempted breach at Quantico, and the federal government’s silence on the immigration status of the individuals involved reiterates the gravity of your failure to secure the southern border, and to provide state governments notice of illegal migrant relocations so I can protect the safety of all Virginians,” he continued. One of the Jordanians reportedly entered the country through Mexico in April and was released on a notice to appear, while the other stayed illegally in the U.S. after their student visa expired in 2023, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials confirmed to Fox. VIRGINIA GOV GLENN YOUNGKIN CALLS OUT BIDEN FOR REFUSAL OF VSU PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: ‘HUGE SNUB’ “The Federal Government’s failure to promptly inform and collaborate with state partners on this matter is simply inexcusable and counter to the Joint Tettorism Task Force (JTTF) agreement to share information,” Youngkin said in the letter. Younkin wrote that federal partners did not get involved in the case involving the secure military base for nearly two weeks, demanding that more information be provided on the incident. In the letter, the Governor noted that this is one of at least four incidents of its kind to occur in the past month. The letter referenced similar occurrences across the country in recent months, which included a Chinese national who reportedly tried to force entry into the Marine Corps’ Air Ground Combat Center on March 27th, as well as a driver who sped into the gates of Virginia Beach’s Fort Story on April 28th. Youngkin’s letter asked the administration to provide a full briefing to him and the Public Safety and Homeland Security team on the matter. A 17-year-old Mexican national jumped a fence on Thursday, breaching Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas. Del Rio Border Patrol agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop early in the morning on Highway 90 East, when a teenager ran from the vehicle and breached the base, a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital. The teenager was later detained by Border Patrol agents. Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment. Fox News’ Griff Jenkins and Adam Shaw contributed to this report.
Biden’s abortion script flipped by businesswoman’s boost to pro-life groups

EXCLUSIVE: A number of pro-life organizations in one major swing state got a big boost on Mother’s Day as one Republican businesswoman aims to flip the script on Democrats’ abortion narrative this election year. Former U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia, a staunch proponent of policies protecting the unborn, donated nearly $150,000 to more than two dozen groups across the swing state and nationally, including adoption agencies, foster care agencies, pregnancy resource centers and religious groups. Loeffler, rumored to be a prime candidate for either governor or Senate in 2026, told Fox News Digital the donations were about providing and raising the awareness of family resources that run in stark contrast to the pro-choice message of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. EXCLUSIVE: MISSOURI AG TORCHES KANSAS CITY’S ‘RETALIATION’ AGAINST CHIEFS KICKER EXPRESSING CHRISTIAN BELIEFS “Each Mother’s Day I make donations to a list of organizations that has been growing,” Loeffler told Fox. “As a strong pro-life advocate, as a woman of faith, as someone who believes in the sanctity of life, I think this is the best investment we can make in our communities, and it’s really in stark contrast to the message that you see today on the left. “Biden and Harris are out on their — whatever tour they like to call it. Reproductive freedom doesn’t seem like the right word, but they’re out advocating for abortion across the country as their No. 1 issue and benefit of a Biden presidency. And I think there’s a better way forward for our country and for our families.” Democrats have sought to make abortion a central theme in this year’s presidential and down-ballot races as polls show the party’s chances of hanging onto the White House and Senate appear under threat. Many view abortion as an issue that would drive up voter turnout for Democrats, who are struggling with low enthusiasm among likely supporters compared to Republicans. Loeffler says Democrats are making it an issue, because, if they didn’t, they wouldn’t have anything else to stand on. BLUE STATE DEMS LOOK TO BUCK PARTY’S CRIME POLICIES, GET MAJOR BACKING FROM POLICE GROUPS IN SWING RACES “They are making it an issue because they need it as an issue. They need to mobilize their base. Their voter enthusiasm is extremely low, and they’re losing voters across all demographics, no matter how much money they spend,” Loeffler said. “They’ve had to advance more and more radical ideas, including abortion up to the moment of birth, which is really what they want. “With Bidenomics not working out, people living paycheck to paycheck in this country, consumer debt over $1 trillion, interest rates sky-high and no end in sight, they’ve shifted to abortion,” she added. “They tried threats to democracy. No one knew what that was. That didn’t work. And this is their issue.” Loeffler, although conceding a majority of Americans agreed with abortion being legal up to 15 weeks of pregnancy, argued more awareness about resources for foster children, adoptive parents, pregnancy resource centers and providing more of those resources to organizations, such as faith-based ones, would naturally shift Americans’ views on the issue. “What is needed is an education campaign on what the alternatives are — what’s out there — as opposed to the abortion industry just pushing this abortion is the only answer,” Loeffler said. “There’s so many other ways to go about strengthening our families, our communities, caring for our neighbors. And it doesn’t start with abortion. It starts with providing those resources that are needed and available.” EXPERTS REVEAL MAJOR ‘DOWNSIDE’ TO POTENTIAL TRUMP VP PICK: ‘NO WOW FACTOR’ In the meantime, she said, abortion rights should be determined at the state level, as former President Trump recently suggested. Loeffler argued people would ultimately show up to the polls and “vote their conscience” despite efforts by Democrats in some states to get abortion measures on ballots to drive turnout. However, she predicted they would find most people aren’t just single-issue voters. “We care about the direction of the economy. We care about the border being closed. We care about crime needing to go down. We care about our kids needing to be able to read by third grade. All these things, and Democrats have been left with making it a single-issue race because they’ve failed on every single other policy,” she said. “The more money the Biden-Harris campaign spends on their pro-abortion campaign, the further they fall in the polls. So, it’s going to be interesting. It’s going to be very dynamic. But I think we can be confident that the things that we are for are the advancement of the human condition and not ending the human condition.” Get the latest updates from the 2024 campaign trail, exclusive interviews and more at our Fox News Digital election hub.
Biden admin slammed for ‘doubling down’ on alleged Gaza refugee plans

FIRST ON FOX: A Republican senator is blasting President Biden’s administration for ignoring her questions and concerns over an alleged plan to consider taking in refugees from Gaza. “The Biden administration is blowing off my work to prevent an Oct. 7-related attack on our own shores, which shows just how seriously this president takes our security,” Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, told Fox News Digital. The lawmaker led a letter to Biden earlier this month, signed by 35 Republican senators, asking the commander in chief for answers after a report emerged that his administration was considering allowing some refugees from Gaza into the country. SCHUMER-BACKED BORDER BILL FAILS A SECOND TIME WITH EVEN LESS DEM SUPPORT “Instead, Biden is doubling down on his dangerous plan to welcome Hamas sympathizers to our homeland, despite the risk to American lives,” Ernst said of the administration’s response. The administration had the State Department respond to the widely signed letter. VISA BANS FOR ICC OFFICIALS URGED BY BIPARTISAN SENATORS AFTER ISRAEL ARREST WARRANT REQUESTS The response to Ernst reiterated information about the administration’s efforts to assist U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents and their families in departing from Gaza during Israel’s war with the terrorist group Hamas. The administration has already stated on several occasions that it has helped more than 1,800 individuals leave Gaza, and many of them have come to the U.S. BIDEN EPA GRANTED $50M TO ANTI-ISRAEL ‘CLIMATE JUSTICE’ GROUP The already disseminated information from the administration did not touch on the Iowa Republican’s question regarding how many refugees officials were considering allowing into the country. Ernst had also asked for details on how screenings would be implemented for potential refugees from Gaza. In response, the State Department informed her, “Any individuals from Gaza who have traveled or would travel to the United States are thoroughly vetted, as the safety and security of the American people is our top priority.” BIDEN OUTPACES TRUMP WITH 200 CONFIRMED JUDGES, CEMENTING IMPACT ON COURTS “Make no mistake, I have seen failures in the vetting process before, and I certainly don’t want to see them repeated. When Gaza’s own neighbors cannot properly vet friend or foe, there is no way our State Department can make those assessments, and they fail to provide concrete information otherwise,” Ernst told Fox News Digital. The just over one-page answer to the senator’s various questions also didn’t address her questions about logistics and discussions with surrounding countries. ‘WORSE THAN DOING NOTHING’: GOP RIPS INTO SCHUMER-BACKED BORDER BILL A State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital that interagency discussions are ongoing regarding U.S. support for Palestinians in Gaza, citing the U.S. role in humanitarian assistance globally. The spokesperson reiterated the same information regarding the 1,800 people who have been assisted in leaving Gaza already, as was relayed to the senator. The White House did not provide comment to Fox News Digital. The initial report from CBS News alleged that senior officials within several different federal agencies were engaged in conversations about what options were available to resettle Palestinians who are immediate family members of citizens or permanent U.S. residents.
