Ilhan Omar’s daughter mocked as ‘psycho’ after college suspends her for anti-Israel demonstrations
Social media erupted Thursday evening after Isra Hirsi, the daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., revealed she had been suspended from Barnard College following her involvement in an anti-Israel protest on Columbia University’s campus in New York City. “[I’m] an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest @ColumbiaSJP, in my 3 years at @BarnardCollege i have never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings,” Hirsi, 21, wrote in a post on X. “[I] just received notice that i am 1 of 3 students suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide.” “[T]hose of us in Gaza Solidarity Encampment will not be intimidated,” she added in a follow-up post. “[W]e will stand resolute until our demands are met. our demands include divestment from companies complicit in genocide, transparency of @Columbia’s investments and FULL amnesty for all students facing repression”. Hirsi was one of several students who took part in what Barnard College referred to Thursday as an “unauthorized encampment” that was originally set up on Columbia’s campus on Wednesday. NYPD AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY REMOVE ZIP-TIED ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTERS: PRESIDENT Hirsi’s bio on X features a hammer and sickle — a Soviet-era communist symbol — as Washington Beacon contributor and political commentator Noah Pollak noted on social media. “Ilhan Omar’s psycho daughter just got suspended from Barnard over her Hamas activism, and she has a Soviet hammer & sickle emoji in her bio + pronouns. Perfection,” Pollak wrote in a post to X. Hirsi, who co-founded the U.S. Youth Climate Strike and has received fawning coverage from liberal media outlets, added the infamous symbol to her profile at some point in 2021. “Barnard College has just suspended Ilhan Omar’s daughter for her involvement in pro-Hamas and Iran protests at Columbia University,” wrote Brigitte Gabriel, the founder and chairman of ACT For America. “Supporting terrorism should be grounds for immediate expulsion! “Ilhan Omar doesn’t just hate America, she’s also teaching her kids to hate America,” Gabriel wrote in a follow-up post. “Why are we bringing people to America who hate America? This is a road to terrorism.” Emily Schrader, an Israeli-American human rights activist who campaigns against antisemitism, questioned why Hirsi is only facing a suspension and insisted that she “should be expelled.” “Ilhan Omar’s daughter suspended from Columbia for her leadership role in unsanctioned antisemitic and pro-terror protests,” Schrader wrote in a post on X. “My only question is, why only now, and why only a suspension? She should be expelled. I’ll happily pay for a ticket to Gaza for her.” COLUMBIA STUDENT ‘DEEPLY DISTURBED’ OVER ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTS: ‘SCARED’ IF THESE ARE AMERICA’S FUTURE LEADERS StopAntisemitism — a group that frequently provides its social media followers with the names, accounts and employers of those it says espouse antisemitic viewpoints — also chimed in about the news. “Seems the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree,” the group wrote in a post to X. The group also included in its post a photo of Omar and her daughter, with the caption reading, “Antisemite Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, suspended from Barnard/Columbia for radical anti-Israel protesting”. The group also responded directly to Hirsi’s initial tweet, saying, “Good news! You were told several times to leave the encampment and you didn’t. Now you’re suffering the consequences.” Brooke Goldstein, a human rights attorney who serves as the executive director of The Lawfare Project, also weighed in on Hirsi’s suspension, saying she was not surprised by the news. “Hirsi has acknowledged that she is one of the organizers of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), the hate group that has done so much damage – not just to Jewish students on campus, but to the rights of all students,” Goldstein wrote. “This may be breaking news, but somehow it is not shocking news. A lot of questions need to be answered, including by Rep. Ilhan Omar.” Hirsi was named to Forbes’ “40 Under 40 Government and Politics” list in 2020 and has been featured in New York Magazine. She was described as “saving the planet” by Vice News for her climate change work. While several right-leaning and Israeli-supporting activists took aim at Hirsi over her involvement in the protest, others, including Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., offered words of support. Tlaib, who was censured by her colleagues in the House in November for anti-Israel comments she made in the wake of the Jewish state’s war against terror group Hamas, wrote in a post to X: “From UM to Vanderbilt to USC to Columbia, students across our country are being retaliated against for using their constitutional rights to protest genocide. It’s appalling.” ANTI-ISRAEL AGITATORS OCCUPY COLUMBIA CAMPUS AS UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT FACES GRILLING FROM CONGRESS Hirsi’s suspension came after dozens of protesters camped out in tents on school grounds Wednesday, calling on the university to divest itself from companies that have ties to Israel. The encampment was set up the same day Nemat Shafik, the university’s president, testified before Congress about antisemitism on the college campus. The students from both Barnard and Columbia who set up the encampment had a “stated intention to remain,” Barnard College said in a statement about the matter. “Before noon on April 17, Columbia made multiple requests that students participating in the unauthorized encampment leave the lawn. A number of Barnard Senior Staff also went to the lawn to ask Barnard students participating in the encampment to leave and to advise Barnard students that they would be subject to sanctions at Barnard if they did not leave the encampment,” the school said Thursday. “Members of the Barnard Senior Staff provided participants in the unauthorized encampment with written warnings at approximately 7 p.m. on April 17. These written warnings stated that students would receive interim suspensions if they did not leave the encampment by 9 p.m. on April 17.” “This morning, April 18, we started to place identified Barnard students remaining in the encampment on interim suspension, and we will continue to do so,” the school added. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good, R-Va., is distancing himself from two GOP rebels’ threats to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., from power. Good told reporters on Thursday that the “appropriate” time to pick a new leader for the House GOP would be in November. Traditionally, the closed-door election to pick a new party leader takes place sometime that month following an election. The Virginia Republican was one of eight House GOP lawmakers who voted with Democrats to oust Johnson’s predecessor, ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., in October 2023. ‘DEFINITION OF INSANITY’: FRUSTRATED HOUSE REPUBLICANS BLAST GOP REBELS’ THREAT TO OUST JOHNSON “I think there’s a lot of dissatisfaction within the Republican Party. I think the speaker guarantees himself that there will be a contest for the speaker, I hope, in November. I think that’s the wise course when you’re sitting at a 216 to 213 margin,” Good said. Good has been among the most vocal critics of Johnson’s leadership, particularly when the speaker has had to reach across the aisle to pass critical legislation. But his wariness of embracing calls for Johnson’s ouster shows the overall wariness of members of Johnson’s right flank to undergo the same three weeks of chaos they did last year. When asked to clarify whether he would not support if his fellow Republicans triggered a vote for Johnson’s ouster – known as a motion to vacate – Good said, “I only know of members who have said they support a motion to vacate. JOHNSON LIKELY FORCED TO GET DEM HELP ON FOREIGN AID PLAN AS REPUBLICANS DECRY LACK OF BORDER MEASURES He reasoned that House Republicans are dealing with a slimmer majority than in October when GOP rebels ousted McCarthy, and that there were longstanding issues some members had with the former speaker and his leadership, compared to Johnson’s relative newcomer status. It comes after Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., threatened to trigger a vote for Johnson’s ouster over his foreign aid plan earlier this week if he did not willingly step aside. He’s now co-sponsoring an earlier motion to vacate resolution filed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., a fierce critic of Johnson’s leadership. Good, who does not have a close relationship with Greene since her ouster from the Freedom Caucus and her criticism of the Republicans who forced out McCarthy, would not say whether he thought Greene’s attack against Johnson was misguided. MASSIE THREATENS TO OUST SPEAKER JOHNSON IF HE DOESN’T STEP DOWN OVER FOREIGN AID PLAN “I’ll just point out that the…two members who signed on to that are members who were very critical of holding the previous speaker accountable,” Good said. “And so I think it’s a conversation for them on what’s different today, versus the actions that they were critical of a year ago.” He continued, “I would point out that the margin is so much more narrow that when they were saying a year ago that, ‘Oh, they might elected Democrat speaker,’ that was just dishonesty…It’s a much more precarious position to pursue that now.” Meanwhile, Johnson put out a statement Thursday afternoon saying he had no intention of supporting efforts to change the motion to vacate rule. “Since the beginning of the 118th Congress, the House rule allowing a Motion to Vacate from a single member has harmed this office and our House majority,” he said. “Recently, many members have encouraged me to endorse a new rule to raise this threshold. While I understand the importance of that idea, any rule change requires a majority of the full House, which we do not have. “We will continue to govern under the existing rules.”
Dem senator’s claim downplaying border crisis resurfaces after staffer killed by illegal immigrant
Sen. Catherine Cortez-Masto, D-Nev., claimed that there were “no open borders,” just two days before the migrant arrested in a deadly car accident that killed her adviser illegally entered into the U.S. In a resurfaced video from March 10, 2021, a month when Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reported over 170,000 migrant encounters at the border, Cortez Masto is seen telling MSNBC that there was “a lot of misinformation” surrounding the southern border crisis. “There’s no open border,” the Democrat Senator claimed. “As someone who was attorney general for eight years, my state worked very closely on the border with Mexico. There are no open borders.” Just two days later, on March 12, 2021, an illegal immigrant by the name of Elmer Rueda-Linares reportedly entered at or near the Rio Grande City, Texas, Port of Entry without inspection by an immigration official, ICE confirmed to Fox News Digital. That same migrant would go on to be arrested in connection with the death of one of Cortez Masto’s own senior advisers. ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ARRESTED IN CRASH THAT KILLED DEMOCRATIC SENATOR’S ADVISER Kurt Englehart, senior advisor to Cortez Masto, was killed in a car collision south of Downtown Reno, Nevada, on April 6, 2024. Rueda-Linares, the illegal migrant driving the vehicle that collided with Englehart, was arrested and charged with failing to stop at the scene of the accident. HAITIAN MIGRANT, NOW A DOUBLE HOMICIDE SUSPECT, WAS ALLOWED INTO US BY BIDEN ADMIN VIA CONTROVERSIAL APP CBP noted that encounters increased by 71 percent over February 2021 in March of that year, the same month Cortez Masto made the claim about the border. Also that month, Fox News Digital reported that CBP agents had encountered a “large group” of illegal immigrants near Las Lomas, Texas, apprehending 134 illegal immigrants who had come to the southern border from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua. When asked about the 2021 comment, a spokesperson for Cortez Masto stated that the Senator “has repeatedly pushed for additional border security funding under both the Trump and Biden administrations.” Cortez Masto signed a letter in 2020 that demanded the reversal of Trump-era border policies, “condemning the Trump Administration for its harmful policies that have dismantled the United States’ asylum system.” “Senator Cortez Masto has repeatedly pushed for additional border security funding under both the Trump and Biden administrations and voted in February for the bipartisan border security package that Donald Trump and Senate Republicans refused to consider,” Lauren Wodarski, spokesperson for Cortez Masto, told Fox News Digital in a statement. “To indicate otherwise is a distortion of her record.” In February 2021, Cortez Masto voted against an amendment that would prioritize “taking into custody aliens charged with a crime resulting in death or serious bodily injury.” Again in August 2021, Cortez Masto voted against establishing “a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to ensuring that the Department of Homeland Security, pursuant to Title 42, United States Code, conducts expulsions of illegal immigrants who may contribute to the spread of COVID-19, including any of the dangerous variants originating overseas, in order to protect the public health of the American People, save American lives, and assist in eradicating the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.” The Senator has since cosponsored pieces of legislation that seek to combat the ongoing fentanyl crisis. In 2024, Cortez Masto cosponsored the Stop Fentanyl at the Border Act “to improve border security, imposing new reporting requirements relating to border security, and enhancing criminal penalties for destroying or evading border controls,” as well as signing onto the bipartisan Fentanyl Eradication and Narcotics Deterrence (FEND) Off Fentanyl Act with GOP Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. Most recently, the Democrat voted to dismiss the articles of impeachment filed against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the southern border crisis. Republicans in the House unveiled articles of impeachment against Mayorkas in January, claiming that the Biden administration secretary has “repeatedly violated laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security.” “In large part because of his unlawful conduct, millions of aliens have illegally entered the United States on an annual basis with many unlawfully remaining in the United States,” Republicans alleged. “Alejandro N. Mayorkas knowingly made false statements to Congress that the border is ‘secure,’ that the border is ‘no less secure than it was previously,’ that the border is ‘closed,’ and that DHS has ‘operational control’ of the border.” Cortez Masto called the impeachment inquiry a “waste of time.” “There is no evidence that @SecMayorkas committed high crimes and misdemeanors, so I voted to end this waste of time,” the Senator said in an April 17 post on X. “Republicans could have made real policy changes, but they decided to play games and killed the bipartisan border package in favor of this frivolous impeachment.” During the Senate’s meeting Wednesday on the dismissal of impeachment articles against Mayrokas, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, appeared to mention the incident in which Cortez Masto’s staffer was killed as an example of ramifications of the ongoing southern border crisis. “The consequences of our open border policy can touch all of us,” Lee said. “One of our dear, respected colleagues having lost a beloved staff member in the last few days. Having lost that staff member as a consequence of the actions taken by an immigrant in this country, who was here unlawfully, who shouldn’t have been here. Anti-cop, anti-Israel rhetoric from staffers threatens Dem’s ‘moderate’ image
Texas Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred has surrounded himself with campaign staffers who have shared what appear to be deeply progressive takes on current political issues — from the war in Israel and a ban on “assault weapons” to the abolition of federal immigration authorities. The social media history of Allred’s current campaign staff sheds light on whom the Texas Senate candidate has hired to help him flip the high-profile seat from red to blue in November. Allred, who currently represents Texas’ 32nd Congressional District in the House, announced in May 2023 that he would make a run for the Senate in an attempt to unseat GOP Sen. Ted Cruz, who has represented the Lone Star State in the upper chamber since 2013. While it is unclear whether the views of campaign staff could endanger what The Austin Chronicle described as Allred’s “moderate-Dem case” against Cruz, the Texas congressman has made clear his support for “stand[ing] with our ally Israel.” TEXAS DEMOCRAT COLIN ALLRED FACES 6-FIGURE AD CAMPAIGN FOR CALLING BORDER WALL ‘RACIST’ Michelle Cedeño, the digital mobilization manager for the Texas Democrat’s campaign, has shown her support for Palestine and disdain for Israel in social media comments. She shared another X user’s post on October 11, less than a week after Hamas carried out its assault on Israel, that stated, “You can’t celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day and say Palestinians don’t have a right to their homeland.” She also retweeted a post that urged individuals not to “talk to cops” and a post from Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., that claimed Israel was led by “apartheid-in-chief [Benjamin] Netanyahu.” In February 2024, Cedeño amplified remarks made by one X user who accused Israel of committing “genocide.” Cedeño, who has been tasked with reaching millions of Texas voters and has sent multiple emails to the Allred campaign’s email list, shared numerous posts on social media in recent years that are seemingly anti-police and anti-ICE. Additionally, Cedeño previously made disparaging remarks about President Biden and an individual who now serves in his cabinet. In a January 2021 post to her Facebook page, Cedeño celebrated a news report that stated members of the Austin City Council could use some funds diverted from its police budget to purchase two hotels to use as “permanent supportive housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness.” “YES,” she wrote, sharing the article with her friends. Cedeño also shared a July 2019 then-Twitter post from United We Dream Texas that claimed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents “are cruel” and called for the agency to be abolished. She also shared a Sept. 2020 then-Twitter post that claimed ICE was performing “genocide” through acts that “inspired the Nazi regime.” Aside from her remarks about political issues, Cedeño has directly targeted Biden and Pete Buttigieg, who previously ran for president and now serves as the secretary of transportation, during the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries. SEN. TED CRUZ HAULS IN NEARLY $10 MILLION IN PAST THREE MONTHS AS HE BATTLES FOR RE-ELECTION IN TEXAS In an Oct. 2019 post, Cedeño claimed that Biden has “abusive habits” and an “over-botoxed five-head.” Regarding Buttigieg, Cedeño wrote, “F— this dude” in a Nov. 2019 post to social media and later expressed frustration when Biden appointed him to a cabinet position. “Bro can’t even take control of his police department as mayor when they murder a black man now you’re going to trust him with a WHOLE CABINET POSITION,” she wrote in a Dec. 2020 post to Facebook. James Burnett — another staffer who serves as the political coordinator for Allred’s Senate campaign, according to his LinkedIn profile — has made questionable remarks about Trump supporters and has expressed support for an “assault weapons ban.” In a Sept. 2019 post to then-Twitter, Burnett suggested that Trump supporters are “Angry White People With Guns.” In a separate post in Aug. 2020, Burnett claimed that the same Trump supporters are “racist.” “We said they were racist, we didn’t say they weren’t intelligent,” he wrote at the time. Burnett has also suggested the U.S. should “abolish the Electoral College” and took aim at officials, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, over immigration-related topics. “Not gonna sugarcoat it, F— you and your Wall,” Burnett wrote in Oct. 2020 in response to a post from then-acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan. Last November, Burnett also accused Abbott of being a “Human Trafficker” due to his efforts to bus migrants to other parts of the U.S. Burnett also disagrees with Allred over the issue of whether Texas should be considered a “non-voting state,” writing in a November 2020 post to social media that Americans “can no longer make the argument that Texas is a non-voting state anymore because Texas voted and we got our asses trounced.” TEXAS DEMOCRAT’S ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION POSITIONS COULD COME BACK TO HAUNT HIM IN BID TO OUST TED CRUZ That comment, however, stands in contrast to a comment made by Allred in a May 2023 post to social media claiming “the truth is Texas is a non-voting state.” Hannah Fishman, who serves as the digital director for Allred’s campaign, is another staffer who has shared hot takes online that are contrary to what millions of voters in Texas agree with. Amid the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue in Richmond, Virginia, Fishman wrote in a July 2020 post to then-Twitter that taxpayer dollars “still fund groups like the sons/daughters of confederate veterans and fund salaries of abusive and racist police officers,” adding that the “fight is only beginning.” Additionally, Fishman has offered support for a group that contributed to bailing out alleged violent criminals by sharing a link to the Baltimore Action Legal Team (BALT) in a June 2020 post amid nationwide Black Lives Matter protests. BALT is part of the National Bail Fund Network (NBFN), whose affiliates are “regularly paying bail/bond within the criminal legal or immigration detention systems for community members as their central action.” NBFN is also partners with Palestine Legal, an advocacy group with some members that

Harris makes third visit to key swing state this year

State financial officers put Bank of America on notice for allegedly ‘de-banking’ conservatives
FIRST ON FOX: A group of 15 financial officers representing 13 states issued a warning to Bank of America over its alleged practices of “politicized de-banking” targeting conservatives. In a letter to Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan, the officials said the bank’s practices threaten its own financial health and reputation with customers, while simultaneously harming the U.S. economy and Americans’ civil liberties. They pointed to examples of Bank of America shuttering the accounts belonging to Christian groups and leaders, and joining a net-zero climate alliance, in addition to its poor viewpoint diversity rating. “Americans should never have to worry that their personal financial decisions will be weaponized against them,” Kentucky State Auditor Allison Ball said in a statement. “This practice has become all too common, and banks must urgently course correct to uphold their fiduciary duty and safeguard the constitutional freedoms of Americans.” She blasted executives at financial institutions for taking advantage “of the divided political climate to engage in politicized de-banking.” CHRISTIAN NONPROFIT CLAIMS IT WAS ‘DEBANKED’ BY BANK OF AMERICA OVER ITS RELIGIOUS VIEWS In one example highlighted by Ball and the other 14 officials, in April 2023, Bank of America shut down the bank account belonging to Indigenous Advance Ministries, a Christian charitable organization that assists at-risk children, prisoners and sex trafficking victims in Uganda. The bank further closed the accounts of a Memphis, Tenn., church that donated to that group. Bank of America explained the action was taken because of the group’s “business type” and that its activities exceeded the “bank’s risk tolerance.” After repeated requests for clarification from Indigenous Advance Ministries, Bank of America claimed the accounts were closed because a business affiliated with the group engaged in debt collection, The Christian Post newspaper reported. GOP AGS PUT A MAJOR US BANK ON NOTICE FOR ALLEGED ‘DE-BANKING’ OF CONSERVATIVES According to the letter, in a similar action last year, Bank of America closed the account of Timothy Two Project International, which trains pastors in more than 65 countries. The bank reportedly informed Timothy Two Project International that it was “operating a business type we have chosen not to service.” And three years prior, Bank of America reportedly froze the accounts of Christian author and preacher Lance Wallnau for allegedly laundering money. It then unfroze his account after asking him “invasive” questions about his activities, the state officers wrote. The letter stated that Bank of America’s actions strongly suggest that “systemic drivers of religious and political bias may be at work within the company as a whole. The bank, though, pushed back on those accusations. “Given the large number of non-profits we serve that are affiliated with religious organizations, it’s absurd to think religious beliefs are a factor in any account closing decision,” Bank of America spokesperson Bill Halldin told Fox News Digital. “Very simply, they are not.” NIGEL FARAGE ON HIS EFFORTS TO EXPOSE ‘DE-BANKING’ The state financial officers also said Bank of America’s membership in the so-called Net-Zero Banking Alliance, a global group that coordinates actions taken by banks to push a green energy transition, may facilitate de-banking. They noted that commitments made by Bank of America through its membership could greatly harm farmers in their states since it will lead to higher prices. And the letter pointed to Bank of America’s low ranking on the Viewpoint Diversity Score Business Index, a benchmark measuring corporate respect for free speech and freedom of religion. The index found that Bank of America partners with left-wing groups like the Human Rights Campaign and the Center for American Progress when it comes to its gift-matching program, but leaves out faith-based groups, instead citing its support for “homeless shelters, soup kitchens or other social service needs.” “This pattern of internal political and religious bias at Bank of America poses risks for public funds invested in the company as well as for the millions of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits who rely on its services,” the letter to Moynihan stated. “Bank of America’s de-banking policies and practices improperly subordinate financial well-being to other factors and place the company’s business interests at risk.” The letter concluded by asking Bank of America to take a number of good faith steps to address the concerns, including eliminating viewpoint discrimination and exiting the Net-Zero Banking Alliance. “Financial institutions like Bank of America should not be allowed to restrict Americans’ access to capital based solely on their political or religious views.
