GOP senator rips Biden’s ‘gun-grabbing’ DOJ for taking nearly 2 years to answer for controversial policy
FIRST ON FOX: One Republican lawmaker is pulling no punches going after President Biden’s “gun-grabbing” Department of Justice (DOJ) after it took nearly two years to respond to her questions related to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive’s (ATF) controversial “knock and talk” firearm enforcement policy. Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, first wrote to the ATF in August 2022, demanding it answer for its methods in cracking down on firearm straw purchases — the illegal practice of an individual purchasing a firearm on behalf of someone else — that she worried could be infringing on Americans’ rights. In her letter, she stated that while enforcing laws against straw purchasing firearms was important, the DOJ must be clear about its methods. “For nearly two years, Biden’s ATF has failed to answer my questions; instead, they are continually harassing law-abiding gun owners in their homes,” Ernst told Fox News Digital. “Biden ATF’s ‘knock and talk’ policy is unlawful, and by stonewalling me, they continue to hide the truth, pointing the finger at so-called ‘violence’ without addressing the law-abiding Americans that I clearly asked about.” GOVERNOR WHO CLASHED WITH OBAMA OVER ATTEMPTED ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN REACTS TO SCOTUS’ TEXAS RULING “Biden’s ATF must stop bending the law to fit their gun-grabbing policies,” she added. Ernst sent her 2022 letter just one month after the ATF began its straw purchasing crackdown. In it, she detailed reports and videos that had surfaced showing ATF agents engaging in such investigations. Ernst noted that those interactions involved ATF agents knocking on the front doors of private residences and asking residents to display the recently purchased firearms to prove they did not commit a straw purchase. “In all of the ‘knock and talk’ incidents brought to my attention, none involved the presentation of a warrant,” Ernst wrote. TOP DEMOCRAT IN TIGHT SENATE RACE BACKS CITIZENSHIP, VOTING RIGHTS FOR MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS Ernst said ATF agents often arrive at the house in full gear, wearing bulletproof vests and do not inform residents at the homes that producing the firearm was optional. “The combination of these factors calls into question whether the ATF’s actions are meant to harass or coerce firearm purchasers into, at best, legally questionable ‘investigations,’” she stated. The senator requested that Attorney General Merrick Garland provide details about the ATF investigations, including how the organization establishes probable cause to conduct these visits, as well as whether they obtain a warrant. She also called on the ATF to reveal how many “knock and talks” they have conducted since the ramp-up began in late July. CONSERVATIVE GROUPS UNLEASH MASSIVE INVESTMENT FOR BATTLEGROUND STATE’S ‘LARGEST EVER’ VOTE-BY-MAIL PROGRAM The letter requested that Garland respond within 30 days. Footage from one knock and talk incident in July showed ATF agents arriving at a Delaware man’s home. The man had reportedly purchased seven firearms since January. Agents on the scene admitted to the man that they did not have a warrant. They also offered some insight into how they choose to make a visit. “The idea is that when you purchase more than two guns at a time it generates a multiple sales report, and it comes to us, and we have to check them out,” the agent said to the citizen. “That’s all that is. You did nothing wrong – absolutely zero.” The man ultimately produced one of the firearms. The agents then matched the serial number and left. Fox News Digital reached out to the DOJ for comment. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says ‘next stop’ for Haitians who land in Florida Keys may be Martha’s Vineyard
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis warned that Haitians fleeing the gang-controlled nation to South Florida could get shipped off to the destination island of Martha’s Vineyard. “We do have our transport program also that’s going to be operational,” DeSantis said Tuesday on Dana Loesch’s podcast. “Haitians land in the Florida Keys – their next stop very well may be Martha’s Vineyard.” Florida is roughly 850 miles from Haiti and has been hit by an influx of migrants showing up to the Sunshine State’s shores by boat amid the nation’s conflict. The Republican governor announced last week an increase of personnel and aircraft to the Florida coast in light of unrest in Haiti and the potential for an increase in migration via the sea from the conflict-hit country. RON DESANTIS SAYS HE STEPPED IN TO ENSURE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, ACCUSED RAPIST IS BACK IN ICE CUSTODY “The problem when you get to a situation like Florida is if they have people in our state and we wanted to fly them, say, back to Haiti, you have to get clearance to be able to do that. If you wanted to fly somebody to a South American country, wherever they’re from, it becomes a little bit more difficult because the federal government’s going to tell the host countries not to accept our planes,” DeSantis said. “It’s a little bit different for a maritime state like us,” he continued. “That’s why we’ve really got to get them before they reach the shores, and that’s why we’re working so hard to do that.” The Caribbean nation has seen a significant escalation in violence after gangs overran the capital of Port-au-Prince, resulting in the resignation of embattled Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Nashville police changes physical fitness requirements, adds ‘lactation rooms’ to hire more women
To hire more female police officers, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has abandoned its physical test requirements and replaced it with a physical “agility” test, as well as implemented lactation rooms for nursing mothers. The move is part of the department’s pledge to the national 30×30 initiative, which aims to advance women in the police force 30% by 2030. The force signed onto the initiative in 2021, and major changes have since been made. Commander Tiffany Gibson, the first female director of the Metro Police Department Training Academy, told WSMV4 the 30% goal is “definitely attainable.” CARETAKER-TURNED-SQUATTER BLOCKS FAMILY FROM $2 MILLION DREAM HOME WITH ALLEGED LEGAL LOOPHOLES Instead of a physical ability test, the academy now has an agility test designed to reflect real-world situations. The change moved away from the Cooper Standard for Law Enforcement Physical Assessment, which comprised several strength training tests such as push-ups, sit-ups, 1.5 mile and 300-meter runs measured in seconds, and a vertical jump. According to the department’s website, the new test has five events: the 99-yard obstacle course “consisting of several sharp turns, three curb height obstacles, and a 34-inch-high obstacle that must be vaulted,” a rescue simulation dragging a 100-pound “lifelike” person 32 feet, climbing a four-foot chain link fence, a 500-yard run and a climb over a four-foot wall. Last year, 11% of the department’s officers were women. This year, it increased to 13%. The department has also established lactation rooms for nursing moms in all of its precincts and flexible schedules to attract more women. Gibson told the outlet she would like to see “our own childcare facility,” as another addition to the initiative’s goals in the future. NEW LAWSUIT ALLEGES NYC MAYOR ERIC ADAMS DEMANDED SEX ACTS FROM POLICE OFFICER IN EXCHANGE FOR CAREER HELP At the time of the department’s rollout of the 30×30 pledge, Chief John Drake said in a statement it “encourages departments to remove biases, provide opportunities for women to be promoted, and improve the retention of women in law enforcement.” According to the 30×30 website, “under-representation of women in policing undermines public safety.” An MNPD spokesperson told Fox News Digital that “30×30 is an initiative to increase female representation in law enforcement. The initiative was launched by the New York School of Law’s Policing Project in 2020, which champions “transparency, racial justice, and equitable treatment” in the public safety sector. The project draws in funds from several organizations, including the Microsoft Corporation & Racial Equity Initiative, the Charles Koch Foundation, the National Urban League and others. The change in hiring requirements comes as cities across the U.S. have struggled to hire police officers in recent years. New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Seattle are experiencing severe staffing issues in the wake of the 2020 riots – which sparked from the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers – citing low morale among officers. Trump suggests he would support abortion ban at around 15 weeks of pregnancy
Former President Trump suggested Tuesday that he would support a ban on abortions at around 15 weeks of pregnancy, touting the time period as a uniting factor for the nation. “We’re going to come up with a time — and maybe we could bring the country together on that issue,” Trump said while calling into the “Sid & Friends in the Morning” radio show on WABC. “The number of weeks now, people are agreeing on 15. And I’m thinking in terms of that. And it’ll come out to something that’s very reasonable. But people are really, even hardliners are agreeing, seems to be, 15 weeks seems to be a number that people are agreeing at,” he reasoned. PRO-LIFE VOTERS REVEAL HOW THEY REALLY FEEL ABOUT TRUMP’S STANCE ON ABORTION It was the first time Trump has given a specific limit on the controversial procedure. He also criticized Democrats for not endorsing a ban that would limit abortions in states that still allow the procedure. He also seemed to suggest reluctance to a federal ban. “Everybody agrees — you’ve heard this for years — all the legal scholars on both sides agree: It’s a state issue. It shouldn’t be a federal issue, it’s a state issue,” he said. Reports previously claim Trump has discussed having a ban on abortions after 16 weeks of pregnancy with three exceptions: rape, incest and the life of the mother. Trump was vocally pro-life throughout his presidency and has taken credit for his part in overturning Roe v. Wade by appointing three U.S. Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. However, he drew backlash after telling NBC News’ Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” in September that Gov. Ron DeSantis’ six-week ban on abortion was “a terrible thing and a terrible mistake. While he has not officially announced his recommendation for abortion, his stance on the issue illustrates the changing attitudes and strategies among Republicans. “If the Republicans spoke about it correctly, it never hurt me from the standpoint of elections. It hurt a lot of Republicans,” Trump told host Howard Kurtz on “MediaBuzz” on Sunday. “But I tell people, No. 1, you have to go with your heart. You have to go with your heart. But beyond that, you also have to get elected, and if you don’t have the three exceptions, I think it’s very, very hard to get elected.” KAMALA HARRIS TORN APART BY PRO-LIFERS FOR HISTORIC TRIP TO ABORTION CLINIC: ‘NORMALIZATION OF EVIL’ Since the overturning of Roe v. Jordan opens House probe into how Haitian migrant charged with raping girl at Massachusetts shelter came to US
House Judiciary Committee Republicans are demanding that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas provide information on how a Haitian migrant charged with raping a disabled teen girl at a Massachusetts state shelter entered the United States and who sponsored him to come here. Committee Chair Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., who chairs the Subcommittee on Immigration, Integrity, Security and Enforcement, jointly penned a letter to Mayorkas on Tuesday regarding their investigation into 26-year-old Cory Alvarez. On March 13, police in Rockland, Mass., arrested Alvarez, a Haitian national, “in connection with a vicious assault on a disabled ‘15-year-old girl,’” the letter obtained by the Boston Herald reported. “According to press reports, in June 2023, Alvarez was ‘fl[own] directly from Haiti to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City’ as part of the Biden Administration’s illegal categorical parole program known as CHNV that ‘allows up to 30,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans to fly into the U.S.’ each month,” the letter says. MASSACHUSETTS GOV HEALEY’S ‘THINGS WILL HAPPEN’ COMMENT ON MIGRANT RAPE CASE SPILLS INTO NH GOV RACE “Criminal aliens exploit vulnerabilities in our nation’s immigration system to the detriment of those in the United States,” the letter says. “The Biden Administration’s border and immigration policies only increase the likelihood that criminal aliens will successfully enter and remain in the U.S. Pursuant to the Rules of the House of Representatives, the Committee on the Judiciary is authorized to conduct oversight of federal immigration policy and procedures.” Alavarez’s case recently sparked outcry in the nearby New Hampshire governor’s race, with Republican candidate Kelly Ayotte demanding her Democratic opponent, Joyce Craig, “denounce” her endorsement from Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey. Healey remarked to news cameras last week that while the 15-year-old girl’s alleged rape at a state emergency shelter for migrants is a “horrible situation,” there is vetting in place for people brought in and “it’s unfortunate from time to time things will happen.” To assist the committee with “its continued oversight of federal immigration policy and procedures,” Jordan and McClintock requested, “case history information, including, but not limited to, the alien’s immigration history, immigration benefits applications, the alien file (A-file) or consular file (including all consular notes), and immigration detention status and history.” The letter also ask that DHS provide, “Information regarding the time, date, and place of any and all of the alien’s entries into the United States.” HOUSE REPUBLICANS DEMAND DHS PROVIDE DOCS ON DEPORTATIONS OF BROTHERS OF LAKEN RILEY’S ACCUSED KILLER The letter asks Mayorkas for, “information regarding the Form I-134A, Online Request to be a Supporter and Declaration of Financial Support, on which Alvarez was listed as a beneficiary, including the I-134A itself, the supporter who filed the I-134A, and information regarding how U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ensured that the supporter continued to fulfill his or her duties pursuant to the Form I-134A requirements.” The final request is for “information regarding the alien’s processing by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials, including whether CBP officials were alerted to derogatory information about the alien and what questions were asked of the alien during the screening process.” The deadline listed is before 5 p.m. on April 2.

President Biden will reportedly call on his former running mate Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to make the argument that he’s made health care more affordable and should be re-elected. Obama and Pelosi will join Biden for a virtual rally with activists on Saturday to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamcare, Politico reported. The event is intended to showcase what Biden advisers see as one of the president’s strongest arguments for re-election, the report said. “The Affordable Care Act is so significant for both of them,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, chair of Biden’s reelection campaign, told Politico. “It really shows what it means to have leaders fighting for you and doing things people thought were impossible.” VULNERABLE DEM SENATOR BREAKS SILENCE ON BIDEN ADMIN PROVIDING VETERAN MEDICAL RESOURCES TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS According to Politico, the Obamacare anniversary event will include a digital ad blitz in swing states Biden will campaign heavily in, including, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Saturday’s appearance with Obama comes as Biden is scheduled to reunite with his predecessor and former President Bill Clinton for a swanky New York City fundraiser hosted by Stephen Colbert. The fundraiser is scheduled for March 28 in New York City and the cheapest tickets cost around $250, according to NBC News. Photos with all three presidents will cost $100,000 and those in attendance who donate $250,000 or $500,000 will be allowed to attend separate functions with the Democratic trio. Colbert, a staunch Democratic Party supporter who’s anchored “The Late Show” since 2015, is expected to host a conversation with all three presidents as over 3,000 people are set to attend.
