This is not ‘Netanyahu’s war’, it is Israel’s genocide

I do not blame Benjamin Netanyahu. I do not blame the Israeli prime minister for what is happening to my people. I do not blame him today, as Israeli bombs destroy every corner of Gaza, and children die under the rubble. I did not blame him back in 2013, when I had to watch the slaughter of my people in Gaza on the evening news, either. My mother did not blame him when snipers perched on rooftops shot at her as she tried to make her way to work in the West Bank. My grandfather, God rest his soul, did not blame him as he died without ever returning to the land settlers stole from him in the 1980s, either. For me, for my family, for my people, what we are witnessing in Palestine today is not “Netanyahu’s war”. It is not his occupation. He is nothing but another cog in the relentless war machine that is Israel. Yet if you were to ask senators Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren, the supposed champions of Palestinian rights and progressive humanitarianism in the United States, everything that has happened to us in the past 75 years, and everything that is happening to us today, can be blamed on one man, and one man alone: Netanyahu. Sanders insistently calls the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza “Netanyahu’s war”, and demands that the US “not give Netanyahu another nickel”. Meanwhile, Warren denounces “Netanyahu’s failed leadership” as she calls for a ceasefire. For these progressive senators, the cause of all the pain and suffering in Palestine is clear: a far-right, hawkish prime minister hell-bent on continuing a conflict that keeps him in power. Sure, Netanyahu is evil. Sure, he committed countless crimes against Palestinians and against humanity, throughout his long career. Sure, he is continuing to fuel the carnage in Gaza today in part for his own political survival. And he should be held accountable for everything he has said and done that caused harm and pain to my people. But the racism, extremism and genocidal intent that is on display in Gaza and across the occupied Palestinian territory today cannot and should not be blamed on Netanyahu alone. Blaming Israel’s blatant human rights abuses, disregard for international law, and open celebration of war crimes on Netanyahu alone is nothing but a coping mechanism for liberals like Sanders and Warren. By blaming Netanyahu for the suffering and oppression of the Palestinian people, past and present, they keep alive the lie that Israel was built on progressive ideals, rather than ethnic cleansing. By blaming Netanyahu, they whitewash their seemingly unconditional support for a state blatantly committing war crimes and crimes against humanity. By blaming Netanyahu, and casting Israel as a progressive, well-meaning state that would respect international humanitarian law but is currently taken over by a bad leader, they are absolving themselves – and the US at large – of complicity in Israel’s many war crimes. Of course, Sanders, Warren and all the others pushing this line know well that the “conflict” in Israel-Palestine would not magically disappear and Palestinians would not immediately achieve liberation and justice if Netanyahu were gone. After all, they’ve seen a similar scenario play out in the US only a few years ago. People had said if only Trump was removed from the White House, problems that he fuelled and provoked would disappear. The American democracy would be saved and everything would be just fine. But did that happen? It has been almost four years since the eventful end of Trump’s presidency, but we can still see rampant racism, inequality, gun violence and poverty across the country. These problems have not been magically fixed after Trump’s presidency, because they were not created by Trump. These were never “Trump” problems, but American ones. Furthermore, there is a very real chance that Trump will return to the White House next year because millions of Americans support him and his agenda. The same is true for Netanyahu and Israel. The suggestion that Netanyahu betrayed Israel’s progressive, democratic foundations and caused the “humanitarian catastrophe” we are witnessing in Gaza today, ignores the systemic oppression that is inherent to Israel as a settler colony. Sanders and others may want to believe the Zionist myth that Israel is an essentially progressive country with socialist foundations, built on a “land without people” by a people without land. But they cannot escape the fact that Palestine has never been a ”land without a people”. Indeed, the founding of Israel required the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who are Indigenous to the land, and the survival of Israel as a “Jewish Nation”, as stated in its Nation State Law, requires the continued oppression, disenfranchisement and abuse of Palestinians. Today, millions of Palestinians continue to live and die under Israeli occupation, and they – alongside Palestinian citizens of Israel – are subjected to what is widely described as an apartheid system. This untenable and unjust dynamic is hardly the creation of Netanyahu and his government. From the very beginning, the state of Israel tied its long-term survival to the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, complete erasure of the Palestinian identity, and the oppression of Palestinians who remained on their lands.  Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir wrote in a Washington Post op-ed that “There is no such thing as Palestinians” in 1969, decades before the beginning of Netanyahu’s reign. Sure, the Israeli left promote their agriculture-based communal living situation in “kibbutzim” as a socialist dream, and many Israelis take pride in their country’s “democracy”. But all this is true only if you ignore the humanity of Palestinians who have been ethnically cleansed from their lands to make way for the socialist kibbutzim, and who cannot participate in Israel’s democracy despite living under full Israeli control in illegally occupied territory. Before the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, Israelis protested en masse against what they deemed to be an attack on the country’s legal system and democracy by Netanyahu for months.

FIRST ON FOX: A conservative activist group is bracketing Thursday’s State of the Union with an ad slamming the Biden administration over the recent murder of 22-year-old Laken Riley in Georgia at the hands of an illegal immigrant. Building America’s Future launched a $700,000 television ad buy with two ads blasting the Biden administration on immigration that will air in key markets in battleground states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.  “Laken Riley should have been able to go on a run,” the first ad, titled “Run”, states. “In broad daylight, without being murdered by an illegal immigrant, but Joe Biden promised not to deport illegal immigrants.” The ad then shows a clip of Biden on a debate stage saying that illegal immigrants whose only crime is entering illegally should not be “the focus” of deportation. LAKEN RILEY’S PARENTS WON’T BE AT BIDEN’S STATE OF THE UNION, WILL GRIEVE LOSS FROM HOME: REP. MIKE COLLINS “Biden vowed not to detain illegal immigrants who cross the border” the ad continues, before showing another clip of Biden saying that migrants should not be detained while waiting for a hearing. “So when Jose Ibarra crossed into America illegally, he was not deported,” the ad says, referring to Riley’s alleged killer who was illegally in the country from Venezuela after being released at the border in 2022. Before being charged with felony murder, Ibarra was once arrested in New York for endangering a child, and he was cited in Georgia for misdemeanor shoplifting in October 2023 along with his brother. LAKEN RILEY MURDER EXPOSED GLARING SECURITY LAPSES ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES, NEED FOR EMERGENCY BLUE LIGHTS “He was not put in jail,” the ad says. “Biden also supported sanctuary cities.” The ad then shows Biden saying “no” when asked if illegal immigrants arrested by police should be turned over to ICE. “So when Jose Ibarra was arrested in New York City for endangering a child, the ad says. “He was freed a second time. Ibarra went to Georgia, where he beat Laken Riley to death. How many more killers has Biden set free?” The White House did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.  Building America’s Future will also run a second ad called “Healthcare for Illegal Immigrants” that focuses on the federal 340B program that the group says is vulnerable to being misused to ensure taxpayer-subsidized health care for illegal immigrants. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “The border is broken, millions illegally pouring into our country, but it’s not just the border, your tax dollars are at work for illegal immigrants,” the ad says. “The more we look, the more we find,  our police are under assault, free credit cards for illegals and free health care? They’re using a program currently under investigation called 340b to launder your money and provide free healthcare for illegal immigrants.” “The more we look the more we find. We need Republicans to stand up for us.” The ad comes as Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is facing pressure to reject signing a bill on his desk that would strengthen the 340B program which critics say would in turn subsidize illegal immigrant healthcare. Biden will deliver his State of the Union address on Thursday night as poll after poll shows that illegal immigration is the top issue with voters across the country. For the first time since Monmouth University began polling the issue in 2015, the majority of Americans now say they support a border wall.  According to the same poll, 61% of Americans say immigrants seeking political asylum at the border should be made to stay in Mexico while their claims are processed and 61% of voters say illegal immigration is a “very serious problem.” Additionally, a recent Fox News poll showed that 71% of voters think Biden has mostly failed at “improving border security.”

Denver pleads with property owners to rent to migrant ‘newcomers’

The city of Denver is shutting several of its migrant shelters and officials are asking local property owners to house some of the “newcomers” who need a place to stay. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston recently announced that the city has started to scale back its migrant services with the goal of reducing the current budget deficit by nearly $60 million and reallocating those funds back into city services. The move sees shelters being shuttered and existing shelters consolidated. Jon Ewing, with Denver Human Services, told Fox 31 that the city is looking for alternative ways to house its illegal immigrants. DENVER MAYOR BLAMES REPUBLICANS AND TRUMP FOR $5M CUTS TO PAY FOR MIGRANT CRISIS “We put out a feeler to all the landlords we have connections with,” Ewing said. “Basically said, listen, we’re going to have some newcomers who are going to need housing.” Fox 31 reports that the city recently emailed Denver rental property owners asking if they would be interested in renting to migrants who need housing. “We’ve got kind of a rent cap — $2,000,” Ewing said. He said the effort is being supported by locally operating non-profits who have already connected migrants with various forms of housing, with thousands making their way out of shelters.  “We’re at below 1,800 right now, which is the first time that number’s been that low since September,” Ewing said. That number was as high as 4,500 people as recently as January. Before, migrants were posting on social media in search of a home. “A lot of those posts have now been replaced by, hey, I now need to furnish my apartment, what do I do? And so it’s a good problem to have when that’s what you’re running into,” Ewing said. Ewing said the city has been able to get many of the migrants work permits, so they can earn an income and pay their way for accommodation. “1,300 people right now, over the last two weeks or so, that we’ve been able to help get their work permits,” Ewing said. “That’s a huge step.” 800 MIGRANT FAMILIES BEING BOOTED FROM DENVER SHELTERS AS CITY NEARS BREAKING POINT The move comes after a Massachusetts couple last month volunteered to take in illegal immigrants and was surprised when a family of four showed up at the doorstep less than an hour after signing up.Earlier this year, Johnston predicted that the migrant crisis would cost the city around $180 million. He previously told Fox News that the city was “very close” to a breaking point due to the crisis and announced the city was cutting $5 million from public services while pinning the blame on Republicans and former President Donald Trump.  The city has supported 38,861 migrants from the southern border at a cost of nearly $58 million so far, Fox 31 reported. Venezuelans make up the vast majority of those that have arrived in the city since 2023, according to the Colorado Sun. The sanctuary city has been struggling to stretch its limited resources to support the growing number of migrants there. Texas has transported thousands of migrants to sanctuary cities like Denver, to showcase the problems that border states face when migrants flood their cities.  The influx of migrants has also put the city’s health system at a breaking point with about 8,000 illegal immigrants recording about 20,000 visits to Denver Health last year, receiving services such as emergency room treatment, primary care, dental care and childbirth.  Denver passed laws to become a sanctuary city, but it doesn’t include a right-to-shelter provision, which means there is no official policy that compels the local government to provide shelter indefinitely.  Fox News’ Stepheny Price, Gabriel Hays and  Alba Cuebas-Fantauzzi contributed to this report.

As independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fights for nationwide ballot access, the chief of the Libertarian Party said it would be wise for him to run on their ticket. Angela McArdle, the chair of the Libertarian National Committee, made clear that no decision has been made about RFK Jr. joining the Libertarian Party’s 2024 ticket. But she did say such a move could be “mutually beneficial” as the party seeks a candidate who could seal ballot access in all 50 states. “I’m not allowed to actively recruit anyone for the presidential nomination,” McArdle said in an interview on “The Hill on NewsNation.” “I’m certainly friendly with his campaign, just like I am with all the other candidates’ campaigns.”  RFK JR’S CAMPAIGN SAYS HE HAS ENOUGH SIGNATURES TO GET ON BALLOT IN NEVADA Kennedy has recently floated the idea of running for president as a Libertarian. His long-shot independent campaign against President Biden and former President Trump has only garnered enough signatures for ballot access in four states, and the Libertarian Party has a demonstrated track record of getting on the ballot in all 50 states in 2016 and 2020.  In an interview on CNN in January, Kennedy said he was “looking at” the option of running as a Libertarian, adding that he has a good relationship with the party. He spoke at the California Libertarian Party Convention last month, though he has not committed to joining the Libertarian presidential primary. NIKKI HALEY TO DROP OUT OF 2024 RACE, ENDING CHALLENGE AGAINST TRUMP FOR GOP PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION: SOURCES McArdle said it would be wise for Kennedy to seek the Libertarian nomination, noting that the party has “the experience and the ground game” to get ballot access in all 50 states. She said there is no current favorite for the Libertarian nomination “and that’s not a knock against him. You know, we have a very ornery group of delegates. They’re interested in finding the best, most principled messenger, someone who represents us ideologically. And, we also have a group of people who are very focused on ballot access. And of course, having Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as our candidate would absolutely seal ballot access for us. But it’s not decided yet.” BIDEN CRUISES TOWARD LIKELY 2020 REMATCH — BUT SUFFERS DEFEAT TO LITTLE-KNOWN CANDIDATE McArdle acknowledged that RFK Jr. would not be a perfect ideological fit for the Libertarian Party, but said both sides have something to gain from his potential candidacy as a Libertarian.  “I think that if he became our nominee, there would be an understanding with us that he doesn’t 100% represent us ideologically. He is getting ballot access by using our name and branding. And in return, we are securing ballot access for the future,” she said.
