Biden camp skipped Super Bowl interview amid Robert Hur report concerns: source

Former President Joe Biden’s campaign team allegedly opted against a Super Bowl interview last year because of special counsel Robert Hur’s report, Fox News Digital has learned. A source familiar with Anita Dunn’s interview with the House Oversight Committee told Fox News Digital the report, in which Hur described Biden as “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” factored into Biden breaking with the decades-old tradition. But a source close to Dunn told Fox News Digital she said Biden’s team decided against doing a Super Bowl interview last year because it thought the main coverage would be about what he did with classified records and not about the president’s policy decisions. The source claimed the choice was made before Hur’s report was released. Dunn sat with House investigators for just over five hours Thursday as Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., probes allegations that Biden’s inner circle worked to conceal evidence of mental decline in the former president. FAR-LEFT FIREBRAND SAYS SHE ‘NEVER HAD A CONCERN’ ABOUT BIDEN’S MENTAL STATE AS HOUSE PROBE HEATS UP The source familiar with her interview said Dunn also told committee staff that Biden’s inner circle came to a consensus he should not take a cognitive test, concluding it would offer no political benefit. It comes two days after Fox News Digital was told that ex-deputy White House chief of staff Bruce Reed, who met with House investigators Tuesday, said Biden’s White House physician Kevin O’Connor called cognitive tests “meaningless.” The source close to Dunn said Thursday that Biden’s team believed he would be able to pass a cognitive test, even if they saw no political benefit in one. Dunn also told investigators she was not aware of Biden’s stutter, which he’s said he dealt with all his life, until media coverage of it in 2020, the first source said. LONGTIME BIDEN AIDE SAYS HE STOOD TO EARN UP TO $8M HAD PRESIDENT WON RE-ELECTION “She went on to blame the media for pushing the narrative that President Biden was old,” the source said. The practice of pre-Super Bowl interviews began with former President George W. Bush opting to sit for an interview before the big game in 2004 and has followed by both former President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump, though Trump also skipped out on a Super Bowl interview in 2019. Biden sat for Super Bowl interviews in 2021 and 2022, but did not in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, talks about a pre-Super Bowl interview fell through with Fox Corp. Hur’s report was released publicly Feb. 8, 2024. The Super Bowl was played Feb. 11 that year. Hur was appointed special counsel by former Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2023 to investigate whether Biden mishandled classified documents. Hur “uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice-presidency when he was a private citizen” but said it did not “establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.” Given that Biden “would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” Hur said, “it would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.” RON KLAIN DODGES REPORTERS AFTER MARATHON GRILLING IN BIDEN COVER-UP PROBE Dunn is the tenth ex-Biden administration official to appear before the House Oversight Committee. In addition to investigating the alleged cover-up, Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., is looking into whether decisions were approved via autopen without the former president’s knowledge. Of particular interest to Comer is the myriad of clemency orders Biden signed in the latter half of his presidency, though the former president told The New York Times last month he was behind every decision. Dunn, like most who appeared before her, defended Biden’s mental acuity to committee investigators. “The president made it clear that decisions rested with him, and White House staff brought issues to him for him to decide,” Dunn said in her opening statement, obtained by Fox News Digital. “I believed strongly then, and I believe just as strongly today, that Joe Biden was an effective president who accomplished many important things for the American people.” A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee criticized Dunn after the statement came out in the media, however. “It’s no surprise Anita Dunn is telling the American people not to believe their own eyes, claiming Joe Biden was sharp and ‘fully engaged.’ This opening statement, leaked to media before Ms. Dunn even delivered it, is yet another example of the absurd lengths Biden loyalists will go to defend his failed presidency,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. Fox News Digital also reached out to a representative for Biden and to Dunn’s counsel for comment.
Dem challenger calls GOP congresswoman ‘ESL puppet’ in heated immigration post: ‘Vile extremist’

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif., responded to comments from a Democratic challenger referring to her as an “ESL puppet” in a post criticizing the Trump administration’s immigration policies. “My story is not unique. It’s the story of so many Korean Americans and immigrants across the country who are proud Americans and are making our communities better every day. I’m proud of my accent and will keep using my voice to protect the American dream for future generations,” Kim told Fox News Digital in an exclusive statement. “It’s a new low for a child of Korean immigrants to move to a district two hours away to parrot race-baiting, anti-immigrant slurs targeting a fellow Korean American. Young is the most effective federal lawmaker from California and continues to prove she’s an independent fighter for her community,” Callie Strock, campaign spokesperson for Kim added. Democrat Esther Kim Varet’s post Wednesday night included screenshots from a National Republican Campaign Committee X post that says Kim Varet is “radical,” “anti-ICE,” and “pushing fringe conspiracy theories.” It also included screenshots of various news articles about Asian immigrants facing deportation and other woes as ICE doubles down on deportation efforts. TRUMP’S IMMIGRATION RESET IS LIFTING WAGES AND FORCING REAL ECONOMIC REFORM “Remember when your own racist MAGA party couldn’t tell your much older a– apart from me [Rep. Kim]?” Kim Varet wrote. “You’re a power-hungry Korean-born immigrant that has sold your conscience to the devil – at the price of all hard-working immigrants. You don’t work hard, you and your husband are the biggest GRIFTERS representing the swamp – putrid and pussing from the rot that is your soul. “Don’t you even realize that OUR shared Korean-American community has the highest number of undocumented immigrants amongst Asians?” she added. “You don’t even speak English well enough to hold a single cohesive argument. You ESL puppet. So embarrassing. A real life Judas to our community. You sicken me [Rep. Kim].” The posts quickly caught the attention of the NRCC as it focuses on competitive House races. MOM OF MS-13 MURDER VICTIM CONFRONTS DEMOCRAT LAWMAKER’S ‘TRAP’ QUESTION AT SENATE BORDER HEARING The comments come as ICE operations continue to be a major topic of debate in the Golden State. Most Republicans argue the efforts are necessary for public safety, while others worry it’s harming immigrant communities. Californians will reject this vile extremist who has no business representing them in Congress,” NRCC spokesman Christian Martinez said in a statement Thursday. In response to the NRCC’s comments, Varet told Fox News Digital it “seems like par for the course that national Republicans can’t tell Asians apart.” IMMIGRANTS NEEDED FOR ‘REDISTRICTING PURPOSES,’ HOUSE DEM ADMITS IN VIRAL CLIP: ‘QUIET PART OUT LOUD’ California congressional seats could face redrawing for the 2026 cycle, but the fate of redistricting is still to be battled out nationwide. Still, Kim could be in yet another closely watched race after President Donald Trump won the district narrowly in 2024. Kim defeated Democrat Joe Kerr by over 40,000 votes in November. Kim Varet is one of several candidates in a wide Democratic field seeking to challenge the incumbent Republican in the general election, according to Politico. Cook Political Report ranks the race as “Lean Republican.”
Steve Bannon has two-word answer to dismiss 2028 presidential candidacy rumor

After a report by the Daily Mail cited “well-placed” sources close to Steve Bannon who claim he is gearing up for a 2028 presidential run, the former chief strategist to Donald Trump gave a two-word response. “Trump 2028,” Bannon said in response to a report he’s seeking political advice for a potential run. The report also claimed Bannon had privately disparaged Vice President JD Vance, considered the top contender to run for the presidency on the GOP’s ticket in 2028. A source in Bannon’s inner circle told the Daily Mail Bannon has repeatedly said he does not think Vance is tough enough to run in 2028. 21 DEMOCRATS WHO MAY TRY TO SUCCEED TRUMP IN THE 2028 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION However, this week, President Trump said JD Vance would most likely be his successor. He added that Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio would make a formidable ticket, noting it was “too early” to discuss the matter. “I think JD Vance would be a great nominee if he decides he wants to do that,” Rubio said during an interview with Lara Trump. SUCCEEDING TRUMP: 6 REPUBLICAN POTENTIAL PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS TO KEEP YOUR EYES ON IN 2028 Bannon’s two-word response was published by the conservative news outlet The National Pulse, which blasted the Daily Mail for the “thinly sourced story” and argued the article was an effort to drive division within the Republican Party. Bannon told Politico in March that “all I do is back President Trump and try to move the populist agenda and the America First agenda. I don’t think like a politician.” Bannon also described the notion of him running for president as “absurd.” In April, Bannon told News Nation that there are “many different alternatives” that could permit Trump to sidestep constitutional term limits, noting in another interview the same month that “we have a team” looking at those alternatives. Three days after Trump’s 2025 inauguration, Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., introduced a constitutional amendment that would allow the president to serve a third and final term. According to Congress.gov, that proposal was referred to the House Judiciary Committee but has received no further consideration thus far. The official Trump Store continues selling “TRUMP 2028” merchandise, such as a hat for $50, which has further fueled speculation about a potential Trump run for a third term.
White House launches federal security blitz as president vows to end DC ‘crime plague’

In an effort to crack down on crime in the nation’s capital, President Donald Trump is ramping up federal enforcement in Washington, D.C., and deploying additional federal law enforcement agents this week. Backed by a March executive order, the White House, respective federal agencies and local officials will work together to drive down D.C. crime. D.C. residents can expect an increase in federal enforcement starting as early as Friday, officials said. “Washington, D.C., is an amazing city, but it has sadly been plagued by petty and violent crime for far too long,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital. “President Trump is committed to making our nation’s capital safer and even more beautiful for its residents, lawmakers, and visitors from all around the world.” DC US ATTORNEY SAYS ‘ENOUGH IS ENOUGH’ AS YOUTH CRIME PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON NATION’S CAPITAL Trump on Monday threatened to federalize Washington, D.C., calling for local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be prosecuted as adults after a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee reported being violently beaten in the city by two juveniles. A White House official told Fox News Digital the effort to revitalize the capital has been an ongoing priority for the president, who established the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force through the “Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful” executive order. Federal officials will monitor D.C.’s sanctuary city status to ensure compliance with federal immigration law and support the full accreditation of the district’s forensic crime laboratory to aid local investigations. TRUMP THREATENS TO FEDERALIZE DC AFTER EX-DOGE EMPLOYEE ‘BIG BALLS’ VIOLENTLY BEATEN The task force is also providing assistance to the city’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to boost recruitment, retain officers and facilitate work with federal personnel to reduce crime. Other areas of focus include expediting the concealed carry permitting process in D.C., ending fare evasion and other crimes within the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority system and reviewing prosecutorial policies on pretrial detention to ensure suspects who pose a genuine threat to public safety are detained. WATCH: TRUMP HINTS HE WILL FEDERALIZE DC SOON, BRING IN NATIONAL GUARD AFTER ‘BIG BALLS’ ATTACK One of the most visible changes will be a heightened federal law enforcement presence in and around key locations in the city. Officials said deployments will include areas including the National Mall, Lafayette Park, Union Station, Rock Creek Park and major parkways. The task force has already made progress, using federal enforcement and the National Park Services to increase enforcement, arrest illegal immigrants and remove homeless encampments from parks and public spaces. Operational details had not been finalized as of Thursday afternoon.
ICE could get boost from National Guard if called, Iowa governor says

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Wednesday that members of the state’s National Guard have been prepped to work alongside ICE, citing a mutual aid authorization from the Pentagon reported by the Quad City Times. Reynolds, a Republican, said that no mission directive has been received from Arlington but that the Iowa National Guard stands ready to deploy members to assist in clerical and administrative functions. 200 MARINES HEAD TO FLORIDA IN SUPPORT OF ICE AS MILITARY TAKES STRONGER STANCE ON IMMIGRATION Reynolds told reporters at an appearance in Cedar Rapids that she was one of several governors privy to a recent call with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in which the idea of state militias assisting with detention and deportation operations was discussed, according to the Des Moines Register. “What we really looked at was logistics and processing is probably the way that we would look to help from a state perspective,” Reynolds said, according to the paper. NATIONAL GUARD AUTHORIZED TO DETAIN ICE ATTACKERS, DHS SAYS She added that servicemember figures and the number of states potentially involved have yet to be determined. “We have said that we would step up and help and nothing has been finalized yet. But we’re … looking into helping in some ways that we can,” she said in comments aired on KCCI. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Escucha Mi Voz, a faith-based, immigrant-led community organization, told the network that any deployment of the National Guard against the immigrant community is “morally indefensible and risks widespread violations of civil liberties and constitutional rights.” The National Guards of five other states – Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Georgia and Florida – also received directives to help ICE conduct “alien processing,” according to a memo obtained by The New York Times.
FBI agrees to help locate Texas Democrats who fled state to sabotage GOP redistricting plan, Cornyn says

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, announced Thursday that the FBI has granted his request for federal agents to help locate Texas Democratic lawmakers who fled the state to stall a GOP redistricting vote. Cornyn said the FBI agreed to assist Texas law enforcement in locating members of the Texas House of Representatives “who have fled the state in a shameful attempt to thwart the legislative process.” “I am proud to announce that Director Kash Patel has approved my request for the FBI to assist state and local law enforcement in locating runaway Texas House Democrats,” Cornyn said in a statement. “I thank President Trump and Director Patel for supporting and swiftly acting on my call for the federal government to hold these supposed lawmakers accountable for fleeing Texas. We cannot allow these rogue legislators to avoid their constitutional responsibilities.” DEM GOVERNOR DEFIES FBI: ‘UNWELCOME’ TO PURSUE TEXAS DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS The FBI declined to comment when reached by Fox News Digital. In Texas, more than 50 Democratic lawmakers fled the state earlier this month to prevent a necessary quorum in the Texas House, which requires at least 100 members of the 150-member body to be present. Democratic Govs. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Gavin Newsom of California and Kathy Hochul of New York have offered sanctuary to those Texas Democrats, championing the gridlock they’ve caused as a fight to save democracy. Cornyn sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel on Tuesday asking the bureau to help locate or arrest “potential lawbreakers” who fled in a maneuver to avoid legislative responsibilities “in violation of their oath of office.” COLBERT CONFRONTS JB PRITZKER WITH MAP SHOWING ILLINOIS GERRYMANDERING “Out-of-state actors have made public comments about protecting the Texas legislators who are currently hiding out of state from any accountability for their actions,” Cornyn wrote. “I request the FBI’s assistance, as federal resources are necessary to locate the out-of-state Texas legislators who are potentially acting in violation of the law. The FBI has tools to aid state law enforcement when parties cross state lines, including to avoid testifying or fleeing a scene of a crime.” The letter cited concerns that legislators “who solicited or accepted funds to aid in their efforts to avoid their legislative duties may be guilty of bribery or other public corruption offenses.” “Governor Abbott and Texas state law enforcement officers are doing what they can within the confines of the law, but federal help may be necessary,” Cornyn wrote. “These legislators have committed potential criminal acts in their rush to avoid their constitutional responsibilities and must be fully investigated and held accountable. I urge you to work with Texas public officials to provide them the support they need.” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott convened a special session to try to advance a congressional redistricting plan which could add five new Republican-leaning House seats before next year’s midterm elections. Abbott on Tuesday also filed an emergency petition with the state Supreme Court asking to remove State Rep. Gene Wu from office, categorizing him as the “ringleader of the derelict Democrats who fled the state to break quorum.” President Donald Trump is pushing Republican states to open the process for redistricting mid-cycle to give the GOP a better chance of maintaining control of the House. Meanwhile, Texas state Republicans voted to issue civil arrest warrants and $500 daily fines for Democratic colleagues who abandoned their duties.
DHS scoops up criminal illegal immigrant suspected of killing man on lawnmower: ‘Senseless tragedy’

FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has lodged an ICE detainer on an illegal immigrant suspected of driving drunk and killing a man using a lawnmower in Louisiana. DHS announced in a Thursday press release that a detainer has been lodged against Roberto Romero-Hernandez, who they say is a criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico, after he was arrested by the Louisiana State Police after 59-year-old Rickey G. Maddox was struck and killed by a car in Alexandria, Louisiana. Police say Romero-Hernandez was driving that car while intoxicated and without a license. “An arrest detainer was immediately issued following his arrest to ensure he is not released back into the community following any local proceedings,” DHS said. DHS SCOOPS UP TRANS ILLEGAL ALIEN CHARGED WITH HEINOUS CRIME ON CHILD IN SANCTUARY CITY: ‘WORST OF THE WORST’ Romero-Hernandez, according to local media outlets, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado on the night of Aug. 3, before he left the road on Highway 1 and struck Maddox on his 2013 Kubota lawnmower on the northbound shoulder. Maddox was taken to the hospital with severe injuries where he later died. 16 IN CUSTODY AFTER IMMIGRATION RAID AT LA HOME DEPOT, DHS SAYS “This criminal illegal alien’s reckless decision to drink and drive killed an innocent man. The senseless tragedy should have never happened because Romero-Hernandez should have never been in our country,” Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital in a statement. “Illegal aliens drinking and driving and killing American citizens happens far more often than the media wants you to know about. Just over the past two weeks, an illegal alien driving under the influence killed a mother and her 11-year-old daughter in New Jersey and two high school sweethearts in Wisconsin. Every death caused by an illegal alien is preventable.” This comes as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is facing intense criticism for its crackdown on illegal immigration and as officers are dealing with an 830% increase in assaults. While the agency has said it will not back down from arresting any immigrants who are in the country illegally, the new DHS statement says that the vast majority of those arrested thus far have criminal charges or convictions. Despite claims by some Democrats that ICE is targeting innocent immigrant communities, 70% of the agency’s arrests have been of illegal immigrants convicted or charged with crimes. The country has seen an influx of ICE detainers under the Trump administration and Fox News Digital previously reported that in the sanctuary city of New York, ICE has already issued 400% more detainers on illegal immigrants than former President Joe Biden did during his entire term. Fox News Digital’s Peter Pinedo contributed to this report
FBI ousts former acting director, agent involved in J6 prosecutions, with more expected

The FBI on Thursday is ousting at least three officials, including the former acting director and an officer involved in the January 6 investigations, Fox News has learned. Former FBI acting director, Brian Driscoll, is among those being forced out of the bureau, sources familiar with the matter told Fox News, along with Walter Giardina, a special agent at the bureau who played a role in the investigation of Trump trade advisor, Peter Navarro, and Steven Jensen, the acting director in charge of the Washington Field Office. Driscoll, for his part, served as acting director of the FBI prior to the confirmation of FBI Director Kash Patel, and Jensen played a key role in the January 6 investigations. Senior FBI officials told the agents in question that they needed to leave by Friday, with no specific reason given to them individually. One individual with knowledge of the removals described it as “retribution.” DOJ DIRECTS FBI TO FIRE 8 TOP OFFICIALS, IDENTIFY EMPLOYEES INVOLVED IN JAN. 6, HAMAS CASES FOR REVIEW The FBI did not respond to Fox News’s request for comment. Charleston bishop rebukes Trump’s ‘harsh’ deportations, cites George W Bush’s ‘acceptable’ plans

President Donald Trump received a rare rebuke from the Catholic Church after the Bishop of Charleston released a lengthy public statement condemning the U.S. immigration system, slamming the president’s mass deportation efforts while crediting former President George W. Bush‘s “acceptable” plans. Bishop Mark Brennan, who presides over the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston encompassing all of West Virginia, said America was “built on the backs of men and women who came from other countries, whether freely or in chains.” “Now we see our government adopting harsh measures to deport as many immigrants as possible, often without distinguishing between true criminals and law-abiding persons.” “A government that says it wants to help families is willing to separate immigrant parents from their children. A government that oversees the economy wants to expel millions of workers upon whom the economy depends,” Brennan went on. DEMOCRATS ATTEMPTING TO VISIT BROOKLYN ICE FACILITY REPORTEDLY TRAPPED AFTER BEING REBUFFED BY AGENTS The prelate said some parishioners have spoken to him about their support for Trump during the 2024 campaign over his pledge of a secure border that is now waning due to a “wholesale assault on the majority of immigrants…” “You expected a laser beam approach, not a floodlight,” Brennan said. The bishop compared some immigrants’ plight to Matthew 2, which describes how Mary and Joseph fled Israel with an infant Jesus Christ. “Get up and take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you. For, Herod is about to search for the child to destroy him,” that Scripture reads. “Our Church looks at the person, not his or her legal status, and, following Christ’s teaching and example, reaches out to help the immigrant,” Bishop Brennan continued. DEMS WANTED TO DRAW EVERY REPUBLICAN OUT OF MARYLAND BUT NOW LAMBAST TEXAS REDISTRICTING “A person is more important than legal status. Even prisoners in jail are fed, clothed and have their health problems addressed, at least in well-run prisons.” He went on to praise the work Catholic Charities does to help migrants, adding that illegal entry into the U.S. is on the same misdemeanor statutory level as loitering and shoplifting. Hearkening back to the 19th century, Brennan noted the Fugitive Slave Act had been used to “calm tensions” between the states and that the northern states refused to cooperate because they saw it as an unjust law. “It is Catholic teaching that an unjust law does not bind in conscience. But one must be willing to accept the consequences of civil disobedience. Martin Luther King, Jr., was willing to go to jail rather than acquiesce in unjust laws, a willingness shared by pro-life activists and people protesting nuclear arms,” Brennan added. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP The bishop, however, added that both political parties have failed to substantively address immigration reform. “Republican President George W. Bush presented an acceptable if imperfect plan to reform immigration laws, but his own party shot it down,” he said. “Democratic President Barack Obama said he would act on immigration reform but, with Democrats in control of Congress his first two years, he did not do so,” Brennan added. “Our politicians have failed us.” The White House called the statement “rife with inaccuracies and misinformation. It’s wrong and offensive to conflate ILLEGAL (sic) immigrants with legal immigrants who have followed the law and entered the country the right way.” “Anyone who has broken the law and entered the United States illegally is, by definition, not a ‘law-abiding person.’ President Trump is keeping his promise to the American people to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in history, and unlike prior failed leaders like Joe Biden, he is empowering federal law enforcement officers to do their job and enforce the law. And without laws we are not a nation at all,” said White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson.
Business owner behind mysterious ‘Remember Hiroshima’ protest doll at Disneyland’s ‘Small World’ ride revealed

Baffled Disneyland visitors at the “It’s a Small World” attraction were greeted by a protest doll holding a sign reading “Remember Hiroshima” over the weekend, sparking questions and speculation online as videos of the doll spread. Videos began circulating on TikTok and Reddit Monday showing a woman carrying a female doll holding a sign reading “Remember Hiroshima” while walking around Disneyland. Another photo online showed the doll within the “It’s a Small World” exhibit, strategically positioned next to one of the tunnels that the boat ride traffics. Speculation mounted as the videos spread and earned hundreds of thousands of views and social media users questioned the meaning of the political stunt, while others questioned how the doll made it through the park’s tight security. Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen revealed he was behind the stunt Thursday, telling Fox News Digital in a phone interview that he’s in the midst of a campaign against the U.S. government’s stockpile of powerful weapons as part of his “Up in Arms” campaign against the Pentagon’s spending budget. Cohen said that while the campaign targets current policies under the Trump administration, the matter of Pentagon spending is “disgustingly bipartisan” and stretches long past the current administration. CALIFORNIA BEACH ‘RESIST!’ PROTEST PUSHES ‘KINDNESS’ WHILE CALLING TO ‘86 47’ IN ANTI-TRUMP MESSAGE “The whole idea of the Small World exhibit is that it’s a small world after all,” Cohen told Fox News Digital in a phone interview. “You got all the children from the different countries around the world being together, loving each other. And we put a doll in there that says, ‘Remember Hiroshima.’ I mean, that’s what was supposed to happen after the bomb in Hiroshima. We were supposed to remember what we did there and say, ‘Never again.’ And we’ve, we’ve ignored that.” The political protest was launched just ahead of the 80th anniversary of the 1945 Hiroshima bombings Thursday, when an atomic bomb killed more than 100,000 people in the Japanese city during World War II. Cohen specifically took issue with the ongoing war in Gaza, which he called the “moral issue of our time,” when speaking with Fox Digital, as well as the Pentagon’s nearly $900 billion budget. “They’ve turned us all into murderers, and they’re taking our money, buying bombs with it, and giving it to Israel to slaughter people in Gaza,” he said of the war that has raged since the Biden administration. “And a whole lot of them are kids, just like that little girl that we placed in Disneyland.” Cohen said his criticisms of the U.S.’ military budget and push to build stockpiles of weapons is “disgustingly bipartisan,” stretching back long before the Trump administration. “Trump is the current president. He’s responsible, but I can tell you that all the presidents before him were responsible as well,” he said, referring to the U.S.’ nuclear weapons program across the decades. DEVELOPMENT OF NUCLEAR BOMB 24 TIMES MORE POWERFUL THAN HIROSHIMA’S IS ‘SIGNIFICANTLY AHEAD OF SCHEDULE’ Trump repeatedly has championed his “peace through strength” vision for the U.S. military, citing that a powerful U.S. military will keep other nations from sparking wars. “For at least two decades, political leaders from both parties have dragged our military into missions it was never meant to be,” Trump, for example, said during his speech to the graduating class at West Point Military Academy in May. “They sent our warriors on nation-building crusades to nations that wanted nothing to do with us, led by leaders that didn’t have a clue in distant lands, while abusing our soldiers with absurd ideological experiments here and at home.” He added that those days are over via his peace through strength mission for the military, adding at the time, “My preference will always be to make peace and to seek partnership, even with countries where our differences may be profound.” A Disneyland spokesperson told Fox Digital, when asked about the protest doll, that a cast member swiftly removed the doll from the ride attraction when it was first spotted, and reminded the guest of park rules. The activist who placed the doll within the attraction left without incident, according to Disney. Ben & Jerry’s, which Cohen and co-founder Jerry Greenfield sold in 2000, has a long history of left-wing politics and social justice activism, including rolling out ice cream flavors such as “Pecan Resist” in 2018 to protest the first Trump administration, and “Change the Whirled” in 2021 that was crafted with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who was the first sports player to popularize kneeling during the national anthem back in 2016. Cohen, specifically, also has not shied away from participating in public protests, including in May when he was detained after interrupting a Senate hearing focused on aid to Gaza. DISNEY’S ‘IT’S A SMALL WORLD’ RIDE TO GET NEW SONG LYRICS Cohen said he is just beginning a four-year campaign protesting the U.S.’ military budget in an effort to get the funds “toward the things that people really want.” “Americans are compassionate,” he said. “We don’t want to kill families just like ours in other countries, we just want a good life for ourselves and our kids. People want a decent place to live that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, good schools, affordable childcare, but they say there’s not enough money, and what they don’t say is that they’re spending it all on preparing to kill literally millions of people around the world.”
