Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., praised a South Carolina judge Friday after bond was denied for the 19-year-old transgender activist accused of threatening to assassinate her. She also shook the hand of the suspect’s father. Samuel Theodore Cain, who identifies as transgender and uses the name “Roxie Wolfe” online, was arrested May 15 by state agents for allegedly posting graphic threats targeting Mace and her children. Cain remains in custody, and a trial date has not been set. The judge cited the seriousness of the threats during a hearing. “Mr. Cain, I do believe that you are a credible threat, and I’m going to put you in on a no bond,” the judge said. “The only condition bond I’m going to put on you right now is no contact with the victim.” EXCLUSIVE: NANCY MACE UNLOADS AFTER ARREST OF TRANS ACTIVIST WHO ALLEGEDLY THREATENED TO ‘ASSASSINATE’ HER Mace flew in from Washington, D.C., to deliver a victim impact statement in court Friday morning and speak to reporters afterward. “I come before you today not just as a victim, but as a sitting member of the United States House of Representatives who has been the target of a direct and credible threat on her life,” she told the judge. She described how the threats forced her to change her routine, seek shelter and request increased law enforcement patrols for her home and congressional offices. “This meant I was vulnerable. My staff was vulnerable. And my children were vulnerable,” she said. “Threats like these are acts of terror meant to shake the foundations of democracy.” REP. NANCY MACE’S ALLEGED ATTACKER PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO INCIDENT ON CAPITOL GROUNDS Outside the courthouse, Mace reflected on Friday’s bond hearing and finally seeing Cain in person. “My first thought was, he’s huge,” she said. “This guy was well over 6 feet, over 200 pounds. I’m 5-foot-6, 115 pounds. He’s twice my size. It was scary. “As a mom, this was heartbreaking. All I could think about was his family. And my kids. My kids live in fear about being murdered.” She said she was surprised but thankful for the judge’s ruling. “I’ve seen how women are treated in this state. I hope this gives women hope,” she said. “If there’s a mentally ill man coming after us, we need to stand up for our rights. That’s what I saw the judge do today.” After the hearing, Mace approached Cain’s family and shook the hand of his father. “I shook the hand of a father whose son threatened to kill me, not out of forgiveness, but out of grace,” she later posted on X. “Strength is about standing your ground and we can be humble with humanity.” “I want to thank Samuel Cain’s family,” she said during her remarks for the media. “Their humility meant a lot to me. As a mom, it meant something to see them show up. We’re all human. But threats like this have to come with consequences.” Mace said the threats were discovered by Capitol Police and were serious enough that her staff and law enforcement begged her to get to a safe location. “This was serious. Nobody knew where he was,” she said. “Law enforcement told me to go inside immediately. That’s how real it was.” She described the toll the threats have taken on her daily life. “I face threats every day. This is the second person this year. But I receive death threats from trans activists and trans people every single day. And not a single U.S. attorney in the state of South Carolina or anywhere in the country has taken them seriously.” She warned that continued inaction could be deadly. “One day, someone’s going to pull the trigger. Someone’s going to get a bullet. Someone’s going to die.” She also highlighted a broader pattern of violence and called out what she sees as a lack of accountability from Democrats. “This case isn’t just about one man’s threats. It’s about a culture that tolerates violence against elected officials, especially women who speak up,” Mace said. “We do not accept terror. The normalization of threats against public servants corrodes democracy from within. “Not one Democrat has spoken up to say it’s wrong,” she added. “Only Democrats blame the victim.” On social media, Mace shared a photo of Cain in an orange jumpsuit. “This is not Roxie Wolfe, this is not a woman, and threatening my life is not a joke. Look at his smirk,” she posted. Mace ended her statement in court with a final plea for justice. “I pray this young man finds God, who alone can change hearts of stone into hearts of flesh,” she said. “Letting him walk away sends the message that threatening to kill a member of Congress is just another day without consequence. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is considering working with the producer of ‘Duck Dynasty’ on a reality show featuring immigrants vying for U.S. citizenship.  Rob Worsoff, the A&E producer who pitched the department about the show in a 35-page slide deck first reported by Daily Mail, envisioned immigrants taking part in competitions around the country for the prize of fast-tracking their citizenship process, such as digging for clams in Maine or rafting down the Arkansas River in Colorado.  The show would be called ‘The American,’ also the name of the Amtrak train that would cart them around the country.  As they travel to each state, the competitors would “learn about the history, quirks and activities of each region,” one slide seen by Fox News Digital said. “Aboard the train, we will learn who they are, where they come from, their unique backgrounds, and why they have chosen to immigrate to the United States of America,” the slide reads.  DHS seems open to the proposal.  NOEM DISMISSES JEFFRIES’ WARNINGS AS DHS CONSIDERS ARRESTS OF DEMOCRATIC LAWMAKERS AFTER ICE FACILITY CLASH “I said it may be a good idea,” Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at DHS, told Fox News Digital.  “We get hundreds of pitches for shows. We need to revive patriotism and civic duty in this country and we’re happy to review out-of-the-box pitches.”  She added on X that Sec. Kristi Noem, known for her made-for-TV moments on the job, has not yet been briefed on the idea because it’s in the early stages and has not been approved by staff.  DHS CHIEF NOEM ACCUSES LAWMAKERS OF ‘COMMITTING FELONIES’ AT NEWARK ICE FACILITY: ‘THEY SHOULD BE CENSURED’ The winner would be deemed “our newest fellow American!” though all contestants on the show would be eligible for eventual citizenship.  Other game prizes would be “iconically American,” including 1 million American Airlines points, a $10,000 Starbucks Gift Card, or a lifetime supply of 76 gasoline. Worsoff, who is Canadian, told Fox News Digital he’d pitched the idea as far back as the Obama administration, and the DHS under both President Barack Obama and Joe Biden had been receptive to it. “Both cases there was a positive response,” he said. “There was a very positive response under [DHS Sec. Alejandro] Mayorkas, then he got impeached.” “My show is very much a positive, fun inclusive show,” Worsoff added. He said years ago he’d pitched the idea for the hit reality show ‘The Biggest Loser’ and people had initially accused him of fat-shaming. “Then people watched the show they realized this is a heartwarming, kind show.”  “Nobody’s moving backwards in the [immigration] process” by being on the show, he emphasized. Worsoff told the Wall Street Journal he’d pitched the idea as far back as the Obama administration, but it never gained traction. Worsoff formerly wrote for and produced ‘Duck Dynasty,’ the reality TV show about a Louisiana family and their duck hunting activities. He also produced Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker. Worsoff, who hails from Canada, told the Daily Mail: “I’m not affiliated with any political ideology. As an immigrant myself, I am merely trying to make a show that celebrates the immigration process, celebrate what it means to be American and have a national conversation about what it means to be American, through the eyes of the people who want it most.” DHS has launched a $200 million ad campaign aimed at highlighting the administration’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis excoriated Trump administration lawyers Friday in a remarkable status hearing centered on Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the Salvadorian migrant and alleged MS-13 member who was deported from Maryland to El Salvador in March in what administration officials have acknowledged was an administrative error. The heated back-and-forth was full of eye-popping exchanges between the judge and the Justice Department, as she took umbrage with their attempts to invoke the state secrets privilege to shield details concerning Abrego Garcia from the court.  “What world are we living in,” Xinis asked in disbelief after more than two hours of proceedings. “What sort of legal world are we living in?” She sparred multiple times with DOJ lawyers over their assertion that Abrego Garcia was lawfully detained and deported.  JUSTICE KAGAN SNAPS AT TRUMP LAWYER IN MAJOR CASE: ‘EVERY COURT HAS RULED AGAINST YOU’ “He was lawfully detained? No he wasn’t!” Judge Xinis objected. “There was no order of removal, there was no warrant for removal – there was nothing.” She cut off Justice Department attorney Jonathan Guynn again when he attempted to continue with a different argument. “You didn’t even respond to what I just said,” she told him. “A DHS attorney came in at the first hearing and confirmed that there was no lawful basis to arrest Abrego Garcia.” “Why are we skipping over that – as part of the misconduct at issue, in light of the pattern I’m currently faced with on this day?” she asked, in disbelief. For at least 30 seconds, the courtroom fell completely silent.  The judge said she would issue an order later Friday outlining next steps, after the two sides huddled for a closed portion of the case.  Xinis, who, despite her mounting frustrations, seemed likely to grant the government another deadline extension, described the hours-long hearing as beating a “frustrated and dead horse.”  At one point, she rebuked the Justice Department for trying to invoke the state secrets privilege via a footnote referencing a filing in a separate case before a different court, noting that this would not pass muster in her courtroom. Most of the public hearing was marked by similar sharp exchanges over whether the Trump administration had taken any steps to comply with court orders to facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return – a point Xinis reiterated was already settled by both her court and the Supreme Court last month. At another contentious moment, she laughed in apparent disbelief at the lack of evidence and disclosures from the government. “I can’t count the number of ‘I don’t knows’ my wonderful clerks and I have heard,” she said of depositions from Trump administration officials. FEDERAL JUDGE JAMES BOASBERG FINDS PROBABLE CAUSE TO HOLD TRUMP IN CONTEMPT OVER DEPORTATION FLIGHTS Xinis told the government lawyers they had not presented her with a sufficient affidavit to invoke the state secrets privilege – which the Trump administration has asserted is necessary in this case to protect sensitive diplomatic and foreign policy matters from being made public in court.  Pointing to a prior admission from the Trump administration, Xinis also said Abrego Garcia was removed from the U.S. “without lawful authority.”  “You’ve conceded it. There’s witness testimony,” she said. Any attempt to revise this “would be exceptionally difficult.”  “Respectfully, your honor, he was removed lawfully,” Guynn replied. “No,” an incredulous Xinis shot back. “He was removed unlawfully.” “His removal from the U.S. was lawful,” the Justice Department attorney insisted.  “Well no – no it wasn’t,” Xinis said, visibly stunned.  TRUMP’S REMARKS COULD COME BACK TO BITE HIM IN ABREGO GARCIA DEPORTATION BATTLE “Because there’s actually the [Immigration and Naturalization Act], which says that if the United States elects to remove someone to a third country, there’s a process. Congress has set out that process, the executive has to follow that process.,” she said. “So it is not determined yet whether removal to a third country would be appropriate, which is why the Supreme Court ruled the way it did.” Ultimately, she said, the government will likely have extra time to file additional declarations to allow it to seek the state secrets privilege. Still, she said she “has to point out” that the unlawful removal of Abrego Garcia from the U.S. “is a foregone conclusion.” “He was removed in error. He was sent to El Salvador when there was a notice of withholding of removal, and so that was not lawful.”  Plaintiffs noted that the government had labeled 1,140 documents related to Abrego Garcia’s case as privileged – but in contrast, they were sent just 164 documents – 132 of which were photocopies of their own court filings and interrogatories sent back to them. “Your Honor, a life is in the balance,” Abrego Garcia’s lawyers said, urging the court to move faster. Xinis previously criticized the administration for failing to comply with her court’s requests for information in the case – accusing officials in a blistering eight-page order of submitting “vague, evasive and incomplete” responses that she said demonstrated “willful and bad faith refusal to comply with discovery obligations.”

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of an appeal by a group of Venezuelan migrants who asked the high court to halt their deportation under the Alien Enemies Act.  The ruling, similar to others it has made in the past on the matter, revolved around the alleged illegal immigrants not having enough time to reasonably file a challenge to their deportations. President Donald Trump has been using the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to try and speed up the deportation processes of illegal immigrants, but the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling presents another blow to those attempts after the court ruled against the Trump administration in their attempts to remove men already in immigration custody in a northern region of Texas. “Under these circumstances, notice roughly 24 hours before removal, devoid of information about how to exercise due process rights to contest that removal, surely does not pass muster. But it is not optimal for this Court, far removed from the circumstances on the ground, to determine in the first instance the precise process necessary to satisfy the Constitution in this case. We remand the case to the Fifth Circuit for that purpose,” the opinion from the court reads.  The court did not rule on whether the AEA was lawful but rather send the matter back to the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. “To be clear, we decide today only that the detainees are entitled to more notice than was given on April 18,” the Supreme Court’s ruling said.

Ex-FBI Director James Comey had another anti-Trump seashell moment prior to his Thursday Instagram post that showed seashells arranged to show the numbers “86 47,” a message that White House officials swiftly condemned as an attempt to incite a “hit” against the 47th president. Comey posted a photo of a single larger seashell that was painted blue with the words “Vote Harris” on it in October 2024. “Saw this at the beach,” the ex-FBI chief captioned the post. “Ariel understands the assignment,” he added, apparently a reference to the main character of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” Comey’s propensity to post images of political messages on the beach has gotten him into some hot water after the Secret Service said it was sending agents to investigate and interview Comey. THE ‘DANGER’ OF COMEY’S TRUMP POST CANNOT BE UNDERESTIMATED,’ TULSI GABBARD WARNS Shortly after posting the image, Comey took it down and subsequently put up a separate post acknowledging the matter.  “I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message,” Comey said in his subsequent post. “I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down.” The FBI, where Comey used to work before he was fired by Trump during his first term, had no comment on the matter, but it was also apparent that people at the top levels of the agency were aware of the post. Trump’s new FBI director, Kash Patel, acknowledged on X that agency personnel were “aware” of Comey’s post, in his own statement shared on X. TRUMP ADDRESSES COMEY’S ‘8647’ MESSAGE: ‘HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT MEANT’ “We are in communication with the Secret Service and Director Curran,” Patel said. “Primary jurisdiction is with SS on these matters and we, the FBI, will provide all necessary support.” Comey’s Thursday Instagram post was roundly criticized, including by the president, for working to stoke political violence. “There is no doubt that James Comey hated Donald Trump,” Ted Cruz said. “There is also no doubt that the extreme rhetoric from the left contributes to an atmosphere of violence.” “If a right-winger posted this against a leftist, all hell would break loose. But because it’s James Comey—the man who weaponized the FBI against President Trump—the left is silent,” Tennessee Republican Rep. Andy Ogles said. “That’s unacceptable. The Left invented the term ‘stochastic terrorism’ to go after conservatives anytime they voiced a strong opinion.” The ex-FBI chief appears to have a propensity to post his political leanings on social media. An Instagram post, as recently as March 31, included an animated image stating, “TRANS PEOPLE BELONG,” while in February Comey posted “a message from my former colleagues” that could be considered to be aimed at Republicans and President Trump. “Know that these people – some evil, most just followers too weak to stand up – will fade, but the need for your work will remain,” the post said in part. “Don’t let the darkness of bad people steal the joy of public service,” it added.

The County Board of Arlington, Virginia, voted this week to further restrict police cooperation with ICE in a move the state’s attorney general said only benefits “illegal immigrants that have committed some of the most heinous acts, whether it’s human trafficking or even acts of terrorism.”  Sections of the Arlington County Trust Policy were removed to eliminate “instances in which ACPD can initiate contact with ICE regarding immigration enforcement,” the county said on its website.  “Banning local police from alerting ICE, from terrorists, from MS-13 gang members, from human traffickers, that is not compassion. That’s actually negligence,” Arlington Attorney General Jason Miyares told Fox News after the vote.  “I want to be clear, this present policy does absolutely nothing to make Arlington safe. It makes it less safe. The only people that benefit from this are illegal immigrants that have committed some of the most heinous acts, whether it’s human trafficking or even acts of terrorism. It does not protect the community, does not protect Arlington, does not protect Virginians.”  GOV. YOUNGKIN PROPOSES WITHHOLDING STATE FUNDING FROM VIRGINIA’S ‘SANCTUARY CITIES’ A copy of the old Trust Policy, which the county said was first adopted in July 2022 to ensure residents can interact with the local government without fear of action by federal immigration authorities, outlined the instances in which the Arlington County Police Department could reach out to ICE.  It said ACPD could contact federal immigration authorities if someone was an “undocumented immigrant” who “has been identified as a gang member and is wanted or arrested for a violent felony or a criminal street gang offense,” or if they were “arrested for a terrorism or human trafficking offense,” according to a copy of the policy obtained by WJLA.  VIRGINIA GOV PROMISES ‘FULL COOPERATION’ WITH ICE TO DEPORT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS However, the updated policy no longer includes that language.  “To be clear, breaking the law is still breaking the law. This decision does not change that, and if a crime is committed, law enforcement will respond,” Takis Karantonis, the chair of the Arlington County Board, said in a statement.   “The decision to remove Section 7 and related language comes in the wake of the federal administration’s ongoing erosion of the constitutional right to due process, which every person has regardless of their status,” he added. “The rhetoric and actions of this administration have led to tremendous stress and fear in our community, and we want to make sure all residents feel safe in engaging with local government, particularly with local law enforcement.”  Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has come out against the vote, writing on X, “The Arlington County Board’s latest action to prohibit Arlington Police from any cooperation with ICE, even regarding violent MS-13 gang members who are illegally here, is dereliction of duty and a betrayal of the oath they swore to protect their constituents.  “At what point did protecting violent illegal immigrants become more important than protecting your constituents?” he added. “The Virginia Homeland Security Task Force has been working in Arlington County, catching and arresting violent criminals, including MS-13 gang members. That will continue — unabated — in Arlington and around the Commonwealth.”  Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff for policy and Homeland Security advisor said, “The Democrat Party is fully radicalized against Americans.”  When asked by Fox News Digital Friday for a reaction to the vote, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said, “These sanctuary politicians are playing Russian roulette with American lives.  “While Arlington Country sanctuary politicians work to thwart ICE, DHS will continue arresting criminal illegal aliens and getting them out of our country. Radical sanctuary politicians need to put the safety of the American people first, not criminal illegal aliens. No American wants criminal illegal aliens loose on America’s streets and neither should our leaders who represent them,” she added. “We find it extremely troubling that Arlington County leaders made the decision to prioritize politics ahead of public safety,” ICE acting Director Todd M. Lyons said in a statement to Fox News. “Prohibiting local law enforcement from alerting federal authorities to the presence of an egregious hazard to their community only emboldens criminal offenders while putting people at risk.” The agency has made 17 arrests in Arlington County so far this fiscal year, and three of those arrested were confirmed MS-13 gang members.  Fox News’ Casey Clark contributed to this report.
