As the Maharashtra local body election result signals a win for the BJP-led Mahayuti amid ongoing counting, Eknath Shinde claimed the results are a trailer of what is in store in the municipal corporation elections on January 15.

The statement comes after the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a 27-year-old Hindu man, over allegations of insulting Islam. The incident took place in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh at a time when protests were rocking capital Dhaka and other regions over the death of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi.

Bangladesh remains on edge after the death of Osman Hadi, who was a spokesperson of the Inqilab Moncho platform. Hadi, one of the prominent figures behind the anti-government uprising of last year, was declared dead on Thursday, days after he was shot at close range on December 12.
