Earlier in the day, Vijay had met winning candidates from the TVK at his residence in Chennai to discuss cabinet formation. The developments come after Vijay stumped many as his party won 108 of the 234 seats in the recently-concluded state assembly election.

Actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026. Expressing gratitude, the party called the victory a turning point in state politics. TVK said the result signals a rejection of money-driven politics and the rise of a people-centric movement.

Tamil Nadu Congress has unanimously decided to support the TVK to form a government in the state, after the Vijay-led party fell 10 seats short of the majority mark in the 2026 Assembly elections, ANI sources said.
