Schools across several Indian states are closed on January 10, 2026, due to severe cold-wave conditions, dense fog, extended winter vacations, and Sankranti festival holidays in southern states, as authorities prioritise student safety and follow academic calendars.

Delhi remained shrouded in dense fog and severe cold on January 10 as the IMD issued a yellow alert. Temperatures fell to 4.6 degrees, air quality slipped into the ‘very poor’ category, and foggy conditions are expected to persist through mid-January.

Following the Indore water contamination incident, the Noida Authority formed a special technical committee to inspect drinking water quality and detect leakages. The move aims to prevent similar incidents, alongside reviews of road infrastructure, sanitation, and key civic projects.
