Singh hails from Jabowal village in Punjab’s Kapurthala district and had traveled to the US via the infamous ‘dunki’ route in 2017, according to his family.

The scientists, as per the ICMR press note, also clarified that the influenza strains currently circulating are well matched with the vaccine strains recommended for the Northern Hemisphere.

This comes after a large number of people gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Friday to protest against caste-based reservation, demanding a complete overhaul of the system.
