A major stampede occurred amidst a heavy crowd of passengers at Bengal’s Bardhaman station on Sunday. At least 12 people were injured. All the injured have been admitted to Bardhaman Medical College Hospital.

Earlier, the West Bengal Chief Minister had questioned why the young engineering student had been out of her hostel post-midnight.

Earlier, CM Banerjee expressed shock over the gang-rape incident and reportedly advised private colleges not to allow girls to step outside at night. “I’m shocked to see the incident, but private medical colleges also should take care of their students, and especially girls,” she reportedly said.
