The order came while court was hearing a PIL by journalist Harshita Grover seeking guidelines to regulate the clipping, editing and monetisation of court proceedings online.

CJP said the government will consult its top leadership and respond by 3:30 pm the next day. He added that if there is no meaningful progress toward resolving their demands, they will announce a nationwide protest, larger than the July 20 demonstration.

The present petition specifically concerns police surveillance and had been filed even before the police action of July 20.
