In the wake of the outrage over a dowry-related murder in Greater Noida, a ‘mahapanchayat’ held in Baghpat has appealed to all parents to gift weapons to their daughters during ‘kanyadaan’, instead of the traditional dowry of gold, silver, or cash.

The Maharashtra government will launch a new ferry service, called Ro-Ro (Roll-On, Roll-Off), which will connect Mumbai and Konkan. The service will start from September 1 and significantly cut down travel time.

The drive will come into effect on September 1 and will last until the end of the month. It will be implemented under the supervision of the concerned district magistrates and in coordination with the District Road Safety Committee. Read on for more details on this.
