Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the government is planning to introduce 1,000 new trains in the coming five years and begin operations of the bullet train by 2027. He detailed an elaborate ambitious plan of the ministry to upgrade railway transportation.

“Setting aside the military threat from China, it seems to me that this is a far bigger issue than anything else. It is going to cause an existential threat to our tribes and our livelihoods. It is quite serious because China could even use this as a sort of ‘water bomb'”

A Jaguar aircraft of the IAF crashed in Rajasthan’s Churu district on Wednesday, official sources said. The aircraft crashed in an agriculture field in Bhanoda village around 1.25 pm. A court of inquiry has been formed to confirm the cause of the accident.
