The protesters’ meeting with Nadda came on a day the CJP held a massive march towards the Parliament as the police launched a crackdown on demonstrators. Security forces used sticks, batons, and teargas shells to disperse the protesters.

Nadda said he had requested demonstrators to “assist the administration in restoring normalcy”, adding that the meeting “took place in a cordial atmosphere.”

Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, called Modi the “most anti-youth prime minister in India’s history.” This marked the Congress leader’s first reaction to Monday’s protest march — organised by the satirical group Cockroach Janta Party.
