Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appointed senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam in the case as a special public prosecutor. He is known for leading the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case.

The book now carries portions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the Emergency period of 1975-77. But the definition of the word Preamble and the words ‘secular’ and ‘secularism’ are no longer part of the book.

The clarification comes weeks after a CBSE circular mandated that from July, students entering Class 9 must study three languages, with at least two being Indian languages, in line with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
