Heavy rain and intense thunderstorms affected parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday, providing relief from several days of extreme heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for two days as the skies turned grey.

Tamil Nadu: Chennai witnessed thick clouds of smoke after a massive fire erupted at the Pallikaranai dumpyard on Thursday. Visuals showed thick black smoke rising into the sky from the dumpyard which could be seen from kilometres away.
