India has advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Congo, Uganda and South Sudan after the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak a global health emergency.

Counting of votes for the repolling in the 144-Falta Legislative Assembly constituency in West Bengal began on Sunday at Diamond Harbour Women’s University amid heavy security deployment outside the counting centre.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Atulkar confirmed the deployment, saying it was meant to ensure there was no crowding in the area. The Cockroach Janta Party was created as an online satire last week and has since exploded on social media, with the government cracking down on the forum.
