President Donald Trump declared “HAPPY EASTER!” in a Truth Social post on Palm Sunday, which falls a week before Easter Sunday. “This Holy Week, Christians around the World remember the Crucifixion of God’s Only Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and, on Easter Sunday, we celebrate His Glorious Resurrection and proclaim, as Christians have done for nearly 2,000 years, ‘HE IS RISEN!’” the president declared in the social media post. “Through the pain and sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, we saw God’s boundless Love and Devotion to all Humanity and, in that moment of His Resurrection, History was forever changed with the Promise of Everlasting Life,” he continued. EXCLUSIVE: A panel of bicameral Democrats will release a report Monday that seeks to claim substantive cuts to Medicaid could lead to more than 100,000 beneficiaries immediately losing access to subsidized medication treatment for opioid use amid the fentanyl crisis. Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., the top Democrat on the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, told Fox News Digital both the Trump administration and Congress agree that addiction treatment is crucial in combating the fentanyl crisis.  “[A]s this new report highlights, Medicaid is what enables one million people to get medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction, the gold standard of addiction care,” Hassan said of the minority panel’s findings. “President Trump and Congressional Republicans have proposed gutting Medicaid— in order to pay for tax breaks for corporate special interests and billionaires — which would jeopardize addiction care just as our country is finally starting to see progress in addressing the fentanyl crisis.” DEMOCRATIC SEN. HASSAN SPOTLIGHTS DIFFERENCES WITH BIDEN BUT SAYS PRESIDENT ‘ALWAYS WELCOME’ IN NH Several states have laws that would go into effect and immediately halt certain Medicaid expansion subsidies if federal Medicaid funding to those states is cut. In the report, Hassan’s caucus provided footnoted figures for several states, including her home state, where Medicaid expansion would be curtailed under any Medicaid appropriation cut. Eight states would automatically terminate Medicaid expansion if its federal funding share falls below 90%. Arizona, as one other example, reportedly has a trigger law set at 80%. “President Trump and Congressional Republicans have proposed gutting Medicaid— in order to pay for tax breaks for corporate special interests and billionaires,” Hassan claimed. CDC reportedly pointed to addiction patients’ access to medication and “evidence-based treatment” contributing to the decline. Besides its high-profile immigration and trafficking enforcement endeavors, the White House last week released a dossier focusing on its drug policy priorities. One priority includes efforts to provide “treatment that leads to long-term recovery.” According to the policy outline, the Trump administration will seek to “increase the number of individuals receiving evidence-based treatment and achieving long-term recovery from addiction and substance-use disorders.” “Effective treatment and robust community-based recovery support services are key to ensuring that individuals struggling with addiction and substance-use disorders can find recovery and lead productive, healthy lives,” the White House said in the document. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “The Administration will ensure effective, timely, and evidence-based treatment is available to all Americans who need it.” The administration will also bolster overdose prevention education and meds like Naloxone (Narcan).  “We will encourage state and local efforts facilitating law-enforcement-assisted diversion to connect people who use drugs with supportive services that divert them from incarceration and reduce recidivism,” the White House said in its proposal. But, Hassan’s panel warned Trump’s well-intended plans to expand access to medication-assisted opioid treatment could face a roadblock if state trigger laws nix Medicaid coverage.

This was the deadliest attack on Ukraine this year. The Ukrainian Air Force said its units intercepted and destroyed 43 of 55 Russian drones launched at Ukraine overnight. The attacks reportedly targeted the northern, southern and central areas of Ukraine. Russian forces captured the village of Yelyzavetivka in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, Russia’s Ministry of Defence said. The Defence Ministry in Moscow said its units destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones over Russia’s Rostov region and one over the country’s Belgorod region. The Defence Ministry said Ukraine carried out two attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure over the past day despite a mutually agreed 30-day moratorium on energy strikes, according to the Interfax news agency. The US special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, also condemned the “horrifying attack” and said it “crosses any line of decency”, while Germany’s chancellor-in-waiting, Friedrich Merz, said Russia committed a “serious war crime”. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called for a “durable ceasefire”, noting a “devastating pattern of similar assaults on Ukrainian cities and towns in recent weeks”. Zelenskyy urged Trump to visit Ukraine to understand the gravity of destruction in the country at the hands of Russia. “You will understand what [Russian President Vladimir] Putin did,” he said. Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers, speaking at the annual Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye, accused each other’s countries of violating the energy strike moratorium. Police say the 24-year-old former LSU wide receiver self-inflicted a gunshot wound following a pursuit in Houston. Former Louisiana State University (LSU) receiver Kyren Lacy has died at the age of 24 in an apparent suicide in his car while being pursued by authorities in Houston, according to a Harrison County sheriff’s report released to the media. Lacy was already facing criminal charges stemming from a fatal car accident in Louisiana last December that had clouded his National Football League prospects. Harris County authorities say their pursuit of Lacy late on Saturday night ended when Lacy crashed. When officers approached the vehicle to extract Lacy, they say he had died in an apparent suicide, the report said on Sunday. Lacy was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. “We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former LSU football student-athlete Kyren Lacy,” LSU said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as his former teammates and coaches impacted by his passing.” Lacy, who led LSU in touchdowns receiving with nine last season, had declared for this month’s NFL draft. But his draft stock plummeted after his alleged involvement in an accident that killed a 78-year-old man in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. Advertisement Lacy, who was from Thibodaux, Louisiana, was allegedly driving recklessly – speeding and passing in a no-passing zone – when a motorist who was swerving to avoid Lacy’s Dodge Charger crashed head-on into another vehicle. Herman Hall of Thibodaux, who was involved in the head-on crash, died after being transported to a hospital, a state police report said. Authorities with Louisiana State Police Troop C said Lacy fled the scene of the accident without calling for help. He was booked with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle. Lacy played in 12 games for LSU last season and was second on the team in catches with 58 and yards receiving with 866. He declared for the NFL draft just days after the accident and did not play in LSU’s victory over Baylor in the Texas Bowl on December 31.
