Biden likely to keep same routine, accomplish ‘nothing’ in waning months of presidency: insiders

President Biden’s tenure in the White House expires in January, and political insiders from both sides of the aisle believe the remaining six months of his lame-duck presidency will consist largely of the same routine and “absolutely nothing.” Biden suspended his 2024 re-election campaign on Sunday, noting in a statement that he believed it “is in the best interests of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.” Biden’s announcement, which included his “full support and endorsement” for Vice President Harris to take over as the party’s presidential nominee, led many Americans and political pundits to question what that fulfillment of duties will look like and whether the president will see through any meaningful policies or changes during his remaining months in office. Former Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, who represented Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District in the House from 2013 to 2021, said she sees little change coming Americans’ way in the next six months, insisting Biden “hasn’t been the one making decisions” on key issues all along. BIDEN’S CABINET DOUBLES DOWN ON SUPPORT FOR PRESIDENT AMID CALLS TO INVOKE 25TH AMENDMENT “Clearly, President Biden hasn’t been the one making decisions on our country’s domestic and foreign policy for the last three and a half years,” she said. “The same unelected people running the country with Biden as their figurehead will continue to do so for as long as he is in office and with Kamala Harris, if she’s elected.” “The people who’ve been actually running the country are the unelected power elite from the administrative state, national security state and military industrial complex working hand-in-glove with the propaganda media acting as their agents,” she added. “Their goal is to remain in power at any and all costs, and [they] have already shown they are willing to do whatever it takes to defeat and destroy [former President] Donald Trump, as he is the greatest threat to their power.” Biden’s unprecedented announcement came as an increasing number of Democrat lawmakers publicly called for him to step aside, with the party’s leadership reportedly engaged in efforts to convince the 81-year-old president he could not win the November general election against Trump, the 2024 GOP nominee who he defeated four years ago to win the White House. Julian Epstein, an attorney and former chief counsel to Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, told Fox News Digital he believes there is “almost nothing” Biden will be able to accomplish in the months and days before the inauguration. FOX NEWS MEDIA PROPOSES TRUMP-HARRIS DEBATE MODERATED BY MARTHA MACCALLUM, BRET BAIER “There is almost nothing that Biden can achieve in the next six months, other than treading water and maintaining the status quo,” he said. “If the White House were smart, it would double down on its support for Israel and make clear that the Democrats understand moral clarity on fighting what is in effect the Ku Klux Klan on the banks of the Mediterranean.” American Majority CEO and founder Ned Ryun echoed Epstein’s assessment, saying he believes there’s “absolutely nothing” Biden will be able to accomplish in the shadows of Harris’ presidential campaign. “First, there’s no way anyone on either side of the aisle would want to push the envelope as they have their own re-elections to worry about,” Ryan said. “[Senate Majority Leader] Chuck Schumer would never let anything overtly problematic come to the floor in the Senate because it’s a terrible map already; he doesn’t need to make it even harder for them to try and hold majority.” “So Biden will achieve precisely nothing, except via executive orders, as he’s beyond a lame-duck president and shouldn’t even still be in office,” he added. During his tenure in the White House, Biden has signed 140 executive orders, 196 presidential memoranda, 634 proclamations and 133 notices. After his announcement, Biden’s schedule was largely cleared of campaign events and speeches. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday that Biden intends to complete his term in office and “run through the finish line” in January. “We don’t see ourselves as a lame-duck president at all in this period of time,” she told reporters from the briefing room. “This is a president that has been incredibly successful, and he’s going to do everything that he can to continue to fight for the American people.” Fox News Digital’s Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

Republican AGs accuse Biden’s education secretary of ‘flagrant’ Hatch Act violations

Republican AGs accuse Biden’s education secretary of ‘flagrant’ Hatch Act violations

FIRST ON FOX: Two Republican attorneys general are reporting that Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona violated the Hatch Act in connection to recent comments about President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plans.  Attorneys General Austin Knudsen of Montana and Kris Kobach of Kansas wrote to the Hatch Act unit special counsel on Wednesday to inform the office that statements by the office and Cardona “appear to violate the Hatch Act because, among other things, the statements were on duty partisan political statements made in their respective official capacities, and the statements were for the apparent purpose of affecting the outcome of the 2024 Presidential election.”  “The violations appear to be flagrant, such that a substantial penalty is warranted,” the attorneys general wrote.  The Hatch Act is a federal law that limits political activity of federal employees.  FEDERAL APPEALS COURT BLOCKS ALL OF BIDEN’S STUDENT LOAN DEBT HANDOUT PLAN Knudsen and Kobach argue that “just ten days after the Supreme Court’s rebuke” of Biden’s student loan debt relief plan, the Department of Education “finalized a plan purporting to abolish at least $156 billion in student debt to much fanfare by President Biden and Vice President Harris.”  The Supreme Court last year struck down Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan, ruling that the administration overstepped its authority when it tried to wipe out $400 billion in debt. “The timing of the Biden-Harris Administration’s debt cancellation plans makes plain their pretextual nature. The first round of debt relief was rushed out in time for the 2022 elections in a transparent bread-and-circuses attempt to boost base turnout and, in essence, buy votes with federal funds,” the AGs wrote in their letter. TRUMP VP PICK JD VANCE SLAMMED BIDEN ADMIN’S STUDENT LOAN HANDOUT: ‘UNFAIR AND ILLEGAL’ “This second round of debt cancellation also – by remarkable coincidence – was set to take effect shortly before the 2024 election,” they said. Knudsen and Kobach said that a letter sent from Cardona on official government letterhead is in violation of the Hatch Act. “Biden and I are determined to lower costs for student loan borrowers, to make repaying student debt affordable and realistic, and to build on our separate efforts that have already provided relief to 4.75 million Americans – no matter how many times Republican elected officials try to stop us,” Cardona said in the July 15 letter. BIDEN ISSUES ANOTHER $1.2B STUDENT LOAN BAILOUT “While we disagree with the Republican elected officials’ efforts here to side with special interests and block borrowers from getting breathing room on their student loans, President Biden and our Administration will not stop fighting to make sure Americans have affordable access to the lifechanging opportunities a higher education can provide,” Cardona wrote. According to Knudsen and Kobach, “Both statements appear to violate the Hatch Act, and both flagrantly attack elected State officials on the basis of their party affiliation.” The attorneys general said Cardona “consciously chose to use government resources for political activities, including to affect the upcoming Presidential election. In view of the repeated, flagrant violations of the Hatch Act, a significant penalty is warranted.” A spokesperson for the Department of Education said in a statement to Fox News Digital, “The statements were factually accurate descriptions of the lawsuits, were for the purpose of addressing potential borrower confusion about the status of their loans in the wake of the court decisions, and did not violate the Hatch Act.”

Harris won’t say when she first learned Biden was dropping out of presidential race

Harris won’t say when she first learned Biden was dropping out of presidential race

Vice President Harris will not reveal when she first found out President Biden was ending his re-election bid. Fox News Digital made several attempts to reach Harris’ office to ask when the vice president was first notified that Biden would no longer seek re-election but did not receive a response to the question. Biden made a sudden withdrawal from the presidential race via a written statement on Sunday, despite his communication team spending the days leading up to the withdrawal being adamant that the president was staying in the race. Harris was immediately propped up by Democrats as the candidate to replace Biden at the top of the 2024 ticket, but it is unknown exactly when she found out that he would not be running after weeks of concern over his fitness to serve. BLACK LIVES MATTER SAYS DEMS ARE ‘PARTY OF HYPOCRITES’ FOR ‘INSTALLING’ HARRIS SANS ‘PUBLIC VOTING PROCESS’ After Biden dropped out, it was reported that only a handful of White House and campaign officials were notified of the president’s plan to forego his re-election, prompting questions about the administration’s communication over the situation.  Biden endorsed Harris shortly after the withdrawal announcement. The vice president did not waste any time before accepting Biden’s endorsement and stepping into his place on the ticket, visiting the revamped campaign headquarters just 24 hours after the president dropped out. HARRIS BOYCOTTS NETANYAHU, SNUBS ISRAELI LEADER’S WARTIME ADDRESS TO GIVE SORORITY SPEECH Fox News Digital also asked Harris if she was involved in any conversations to dissuade Biden from running, but she did not respond. More than 30 Democrat lawmakers called on Biden to step down as the nominee ahead of his announcement, and pressure grew for the president to forego his re-election aspirations amid reports that even his close allies were asking him to consider ending his 2024 bid.
