T20 World Cup 2024: India vs Pakistan scheduled on June 9 in New York

India and Pakistan will face each other in New York in their group-stage match at the T20 World Cup 2024. The cricketing rivals have been scheduled to play at the 34,000-seat modular stadium in Long Island on June 9. Tournament co-host, the United States, will open the ninth edition of the event against its North American neighbour, Canada, on June 1 in Dallas. The defending champions, England, are in the same group as Ashes rivals Australia, and will play each other on June 8 in Barbados. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule on Friday, six months before the expanded 20-team tournament, which runs until June 29 when joint co-hosts, the West Indies, will host the final in Barbados. The top two teams from each of the four groups will progress to the Super Eight round in an event that will comprise 55 matches. “The T20 World Cup 2024 marks an exciting expansion of our sport with more teams than ever before set to compete in this event,” ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said. They were also left frustrated in the 2021 T20 World Cup, finishing just outside the qualification spot from their Super 12 group. Pakistan topped that group, beating India by 10 wickets on the way, but were knocked out at the semifinal stage by Australia. They finished fifth in the group to miss out on a place in the last four at the 2023 50-over tournament in India, where the host nation exacted revenge for the 2021 defeat. Adblock test (Why?)
Epstein allegedly invoked 5th Amendment 500 times during deposition, skirted questions about Clinton

Disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein repeatedly refused to answer questions during a deposition with Virginia Giuffre’s lawyers and invoked the Fifth Amendment 500 times, according to newly revealed court documents. Using the Constitutional amendment, which gives Americans the right to not self-incriminate themselves, Epstein refused to answer at least three questions related to former President Bill Clinton and at least one related to the Clinton Foundation, according to a batch of documents unsealed by a federal court in New York on Friday. Epstein refused to answer even simple questions aside from his own name, and also tried to use the amendment to avoid having to disclose documents in the discovery process. The questions were featured in a September 2016 motion filed by Giuffre through her legal team that requested the court compel Epstein to “produce documents and testimony in response to his repeated invocations of the Fifth Amendment at his recent deposition.” JEFFREY EPSTEIN DOCS: 3RD BATCH INCLUDES ALLEGATIONS SEX TRAFFICKER TROLLED NIGHTCLUBS FOR UNDERAGE GIRLS Additionally, the motion argued that a large sum of the questions Epstein refused to answer at the time “pose no substantial risk of incrimination.” Included in the motion was a list of some of the questions Giuffre and her team thought weren’t self-incriminating. One of those questions asked Epstein to “describe all dinners you’ve ever had with Bill Clinton,” while another asked Epstein to confirm whether Bill Clinton flew on his jet “a number of times in 2002.” Epstein was also asked during his deposition to “list every place [he] and Bill Clinton have ever been together,” to which he did not respond. Epstein was also silent when asked to describe all of his “interactions with the Clinton Foundation,” according to the unsealed motion. The Fifth Amendment is one of the 10 articles in the Bill of Rights that was ratified in 1791. The rights guaranteed in the amendment apply to every U.S. citizen or resident and are further protected in the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, according to the Supreme Court. Included in the ratified amendment were five clauses – the Due Process Clause, Takings Clause, Self Incrimination Clause, Double Jeopardy Clause, and the Grand Jury Clause. Epstein’s decision to use the Fifth Amendment numerous times during his deposition with Giuffre’s attorneys came after another batch of documents pertaining to the case were unsealed Friday evening. JEFFREY EPSTEIN LIST: 2ND BATCH OF DOCUMENTS UNSEALED IN GHISLAINE MAXWELL LAWSUIT The new release includes a deposition of Tony Figueroa, a driver for Epstein and Maxwell and former boyfriend of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that he was often tasked with driving girls to the mansion who looked like they were 16 or 17 years old. Each time he dropped them off, he said, Epstein would pay him $200 each. He also alleged that Epstein, Giuffre and Ghislaine Maxwell would “all go out to clubs to pick up girls and try to find them to bring back for Jeffrey.” Documents unsealed this week also showed a discovery request for all photos of Maxwell taken during Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. The entire former first family has now been named in the records, although none of the Clintons have been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. A spokesman for the former president earlier this week denied claims in the documents that Epstein and Clinton were close friends. Giuffre had tried to depose the former president as part of the lawsuit, but a judge denied her request. Fox News’ Michael Ruiz contributed to this report.
Defense Secretary Austin hospitalized following surgery complications

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is recovering after complications following elective surgery, and was admitted into a Washington D.C. hospital on Monday, the Pentagon said. “On the evening of January 1, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for complications following a recent elective medical procedure,” Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder Pentagon said. “He is recovering well and is expecting to resume his full duties today,” Ryder added. Ryder said that Austin was hospitalized following the surgery, but not immediately after. FBI DISMISSES WAVE OF BOMB THREATS ACROSS MULTIPLE STATE CAPITOL BUILDINGS AS HOAX The news about Austin, who has been hospitalized since Monday, was shared with the media Friday. Ryder said that the hospitalization was kept from the press due to “medical and personal privacy issues.” CONCERNS GROW OF ESCALATING CONFLICT IN MIDDLE EAST “This has been an evolving situation in which we [have] had to consider a number of factors including medical and personal privacy issues,” Ryder told Fox News. “We are now in a position to update you.” It wasn’t immediately clear what the elective medical procedure was or the date of the surgery. Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks has been filling in while on a previously scheduled leave. “At all times, the deputy secretary of defense was prepared to act for and exercise the powers of the secretary, if required,” Ryder said. The Pentagon did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Jeffrey Epstein’s employee invoked 5th at least 42 times, including questions about Bill Clinton: documents

Jeffrey Epstein‘s alleged accomplice and former employee, Nadia Marcinkova, invoked her Fifth Amendment rights at least 42 times during a 2010 deposition, including when she was asked if she had been on an airplane with the deceased financier and former President Bill Clinton, according to a third batch of court documents released Friday by a federal court. During the April 13, 2010, inquiry, Marcinkova was asked if she knew Clinton or Doug Band, who served as Clinton’s right-hand man for years after he left the White House. “Fifth,” she simply stated, according to the court documents. JEFFREY EPSTEIN LIST: 2ND BATCH OF DOCUMENTS UNSEALED IN GHISLAINE MAXWELL LAWSUIT “Have you witnessed improper sexual activity between Jeffrey Epstein and minors, while he was in the presence of Bill Clinton, she was also asked. “Fifth,” she once again replied. Other names during questioning mentioned were Jean Luc Brunel, the deceased French modeling scout, Glenn Dubin, a hedge fund manager, and Alan Dershowitz, the prominent criminal defense attorney. Marcinkova also pleaded the fifth when asked about those individuals. Clinton and Dershowitz have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing or knowing about Epstein’s sexual crimes. Marcinkova was also asked if she was aware that Epstein took flights “place to place” to engage in sexual acts with minors. Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre has said Marcinkova and former employee Sarah Kellen played key roles in the sex trafficking of minor girls by Ghislaine Maxwell, according to court documents. Kellen also invoked her Fifth Amendment rights a number of times during her March 24, 2010 deposition, such as when she was asked if she saw Dershowitz at Epstein’s home or Epstein’s relationship with magician David Copperfield. Another document released Friday contained an email from Epstein to “G Maxwell” instructing the recipient to ask the news media to investigate whether Clinton “was ever there. Challenge the press.”

Milwaukee mayor trades barbs with suburban county executive over sales taxes: ‘Go to Cracker Barrel’

The mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, traded barbs with a conservative county executive over the sales tax rates in their areas. Since the beginning of the year, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Washington County executive Josh Schoemann have tossed gibes back and forth after Schoemann invited city residents shop in his district to avoid the new taxes. “I warmly welcome all of our Milwaukee County neighbors to Washington County to shop, dine [and] keep more of your money while doing it,” Schoemann wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on December 29. WISCONSIN GOV. EVERS TO CONSIDER MEDICAL MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION PROPOSAL BY REPUBLICANS Schoemann also encouraged people online to visit “Washington County for the savings, stay for the quality of life!” “Exhibit A: In the City of Milwaukee, today you will pay an additional $60 for this bedroom set,” he wrote on January 1, linking out to an Ashley Furniture webpage. On January 2, Johnson responded to Schoemann, telling local press he thought the executive’s comments “were unfortunate, knowing that all communities need revenue.” “If folks are looking at a high-quality dinner or a theater or a fine dining experience, they can come here, or go to Cracker Barrel there,” Johnson said. “[Washington County residents] are getting a boost as this is retaining the Brewers, and it helps a lot of people,” Johnson continued. “[Schoemann] is encouraging people to go to their county; folks will pay more in gas than simply staying [in Milwaukee.]” In response, Schoemann told Fox News Digital that the “working people like those who enjoy Cracker Barrel are the same people that get hit the hardest by higher taxes.” “The Milwaukee Mayor can keep his ‘fine dining,’ I’ll stick with the folks who visit places like Cracker Barrel,” Schoemann said. Johnson’s communications director Jeff Fleming told Fox News Digital: “Perhaps Mr. Schoemann ought to review the Mayor’s comments; no one here has suggested the people of Washington County are deplorable.” “In fact, a small portion of the City of Milwaukee is located in Washington County,” Fleming said. “It is odd that a county executive would cast such aspersions on his own constituents.” “Mr. Schoemann has created a false narrative to escalate this interaction,” he added. “It’s time to drop it.” A pair of new sales taxes took effect on January 1 in the city and county of Milwaukee. The city added a two percent sales tax to their existing sales taxes while the county increased its sales tax from 0.5 percent to 0.9 percent. Now, Milwaukee city residents are paying 7.9 percent sales tax and those in the county, but not the city of Milwaukee, are paying 5.9 percent sales tax. Wisconsin also has a statewide sales tax of 5 percent. Fox News Digital reached out to Cracker Barrel’s reporter hotline for comment.
Fetterman: Harvard was always a ‘little Pinko’ but I ‘don’t recognize it’ anymore

In an interview this week, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman slammed the BDS movement and said that although Harvard University has always been a little “pinko” he doesn’t “recognize” it 25 years after he attended the school following Claudine Gay’s resignation as president. “As an alum of Harvard — look, I graduated 25 years ago, and of course it was always a little pinko,” Fetterman told Semafor this week “But now, I don’t recognize it.” Fetterman’s comment comes shortly after Harvard President Claudine Gay resigned from her position after struggling to answer a question condemning antisemitism in front of Congress and being accused of plagiarism almost 50 times. Fetterman also told Semafor that “Israel is really a beacon of the kind of values, the American values and progressive ideals, that you want to see.” FETTERMAN BELIEVED GOING PUBLIC WITH MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES WOULD ‘END’ HIS CAREER “In that region, it’s our strongest ally, and we have a very special kind of relationship. I don’t understand how anybody could vote against the Iron Dome, or want to harm Israeli businesses or the nation or anything. I’ll never understand that. Calling them ‘colonizers’— like, where does this come from? It must be TikTok or some kind of obscure classroom talk.” Fetterman also addressed calls for a “cease fire” in Israel from within his own party. “More and more of my colleagues are calling for it,” Fetterman said. “It’s so strange. Why aren’t you calling for Hamas to surrender? If Hamas surrendered, and turned over their guns, all the killing and all the misery would.” JAMES CARVILLE SCOFFS AT FETTERMAN’S CRITICISM OVER HIS BIDEN COMMENTS: ‘NEVER MET THIS MAN’ Fetterman has drawn criticism from fellow Democrats on some of his positions including Israel and immigration and he recently told NBC News that his “not a progressive.” “I just think I’m a Democrat that is very committed to choice and other things. But with Israel, I’m going to be on the right side of that. And immigration is something near and dear to me, and I think we do have to effectively address it as well,” Fetterman said.
Mayorkas acknowledges that majority of illegal immigrants released into US: ‘I know the data’

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday acknowledged that the majority of illegal immigrants encountered at the border are released into the U.S., as he also sought to highlight the number the administration has removed. Mayorkas spoke on “Special Report” on Thursday and was asked by anchor Bret Baier about Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources who have told Fox News that they are releasing over 70% of migrants crossing every day. “It would not surprise me at all. I know the data,” Mayorkas said. “And I will tell you that when individuals are released, they are released into immigration enforcement proceedings. They are on alternatives to detention. And we have returned or removed a record number of individuals. We are enforcing the laws that Congress has passed. “ MAYORKAS PUNTS ON IMPEACHMENT QUESTION, FAULTS CONGRESS AMID BORDER CRISIS Separately the secretary said that there are “well more than a million” migrants released into the U.S. annually, and argued repeatedly that it is up to Congress to provide more funding and immigration reform to fix what he has called a “broken” system. He said that the agency is limited in detention capacity by funding provided by Congress. “When somebody enters the country, we place them in immigration enforcement proceedings pursuant to immigration law, and if their claim for relief, their claim to remain in the United States succeeds, then by law they are able to stay here,” he said. The interview comes as Mayorkas is facing increasing pressure over the Biden administration’s handling of the crisis at the southern border. There were over 302,000 migrant encounters in December, after an FY 2023 that saw a record 2.4 million encounters overall. A recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) report said that the agency had removed 142,580 illegal immigrants in FY 23, up considerably from 72,177 in FY 22 and 59,011 in FY 21, but still down from the highs of 267,258 under the Trump administration in FY 19. The administration has continued to push for deeper legislative reform and funding, but Republicans have blamed the crisis on the Biden administration’s policies, including its rolling back of Trump-era policies, narrowed ICE enforcement and its expanded releases into the interior. Some have also called for Mayorkas’ impeachment and hearings on that will take place next week. EX-DHS OFFICIALS BACK JOHNSON’S AGGRESSIVE BORDER STANCE IN FUNDING FIGHT, SAY GOP MUST HAVE ‘CLEAR RESOLVE’ DHS has said that it has seen more removals since Title 42 ended in May it has removed more than 470,000 people, which is more than in the entirety of FY 2019. It has also said it is working to expand the use of expedited removal and increase deportation flights to Venezuela. But Fox has also reported that officials have told lawmakers that they are releasing over 5,000 illegal immigrants a day into the U.S. interior, and that doesn’t include the migrants being let in at ports of entry after having used the CBP One app. The comments comes as negotiations are ongoing between lawmakers and the administration over a supplemental funding request by the administration — which includes $14 billion for border funding. But Republicans have said that the package must increase limits on asylum and the administration’s use of parole, which they say attracts migrants to the border. Senate Democrats have balked at those demands, but the administration has expressed optimism about the talks. Mayorkas said the magnet was not the policies, but the broken system. “What is a magnet is the fact that the time in between an encounter of an individual at the border and their final ruling in their immigration case can sometimes take six or more years. That is a magnet, which is why precisely why I am working with Republicans and Democrats in the United States Senate to deliver a solution for the American people, to deliver a fix to an immigration system that everyone agrees is broken, and that is long overdue,” he said. Fox News’ Charles Creitz and Bill Melugin contributed to this report.
Trump fires back at Jan. 6 criticism, says Biden is a ‘true threat to democracy’

EXCLUSIVE: Former President Trump said President Biden is a “true threat to democracy,” while reacting to his opponent’s campaign speech marking three years since the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Biden delivered a campaign speech in Blue Bell, Pa. Friday, and spent the majority of the address attacking Trump, who holds a massive lead over the GOP presidential primary field. BIDEN MARKS THREE YEARS SINCE JAN. 6 BLASTING TRUMP, SAYING HE IS ‘TRYING TO STEAL HISTORY’ Biden accused Trump of “trying to steal history the same way he tried to steal the election,” while saying that the results of the 2020 election proved that he was a “loser.” But in an interview with Fox News Digital after Biden’s speech, Trump fired back. “The Democrats rigged the last election and they are trying it again,” Trump said. “But it won’t work because they have shown how bad and incompetent they are.” “Joe Biden is the worst president in the history of the United States — he is incompetent, he is crooked, and in many respects, he is Benedict Arnold,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “He is destroying our country like no one else has done before.” Trump, pointing to the crisis at the Southern Border, said the United States has “an invasion of millions of people, many from prisons, mental institutions and terrorists pouring into our country.” “He is responsible for this,” Trump said. “We are a failing nation — a nation in decline — and it is all because he is the worst president in the history of our country.” TRUMP EDGES BIDEN AGAIN IN NEW 2024 POLL, BUILDS SUPPORT WITH YOUNGER VOTERS Trump went on to tell Fox News Digital that “because of his gross incompetence, Joe Biden is a true threat to democracy.” “This is not a time for us to have a mentally challenged president,” Trump said. Trump’s comments come as Biden blasted him for “the worst dereliction of duty by a president in American history” and “an attempt to overturn a free and fair election by force and violence.” YOUNGER VOTERS HELP BOOST TRUMP’S EDGE OVER BIDEN IN LATEST FOX SURVEY But Trump pushed back, saying: “The only insurrection is the insurrection that is taking place at our border where he is allowing millions of people from parts unknown to invade our country at a level far worse than even a military invasion.” Trump has never been charged with insurrection, despite Special Counsel Jack Smith bringing charges against him related to an investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol protests and the 2020 election. Smith charged Trump with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding and conspiracy against rights. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Biden marks three years since Jan. 6 blasting Trump, saying he is ‘trying to steal history’

President Biden marked three years since the Jan. 6 Capitol riot on Friday, blasting former President Trump by saying he is “trying to steal history the same way he tried to steal the election.” Biden delivered a speech in Blue Bell, Pa. Friday to mark three years of the Capitol Riot on Jan. 6, 2021. Biden spent the majority of his address attacking his predecessor and 2024 Republican opponent — who holds a massive lead over the GOP presidential primary field. “In trying to rewrite the facts of January 6, Trump is trying to steal history the same way he tried to steal the election,” Biden said. “But he knew the truth because we saw it with our own eyes.” Referring to the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot, Biden said the “mob wasn’t a peaceful protest. It was a violent assault.” “They were insurrectionists, not patriots,” Biden said. “I’ll say what Donald Trump won’t — political violence is never, ever acceptable to the United States… Never, never, never.” He added: “It has no place in a democracy. None. You can’t be pro-insurrectionist and pro American.” Biden spent the majority of the speech trying to tie Trump to the Capitol riot. While Special Counsel Jack Smith did charge Trump out of his investigation, the former president has never been charged with insurrection. Biden said that “democracy is on the ballot” and “freedom is on the ballot” in 2024, while saying the opposite of democracy is “dictatorship.” This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
